Another Disney Parks "New Years Eve Announcement" 2012

My take is that no "fan" will ever be satisfied, no matter what they announce. The general public won't know or care how "disappointing" the announcement will be.

My take is you've got an issue with fans who are critical, since you seem to only care that Disney is your MAGICal place, so you wrongly assume that what makes MOST fans happy also won't make MOST guests of all stripes happy.

Bad logic, my frozen friend. You make Disney's most loyal, tough, critical fans happy and you will satisfy 99% of the folks who walk thru your new RFID entryports!

And not surprisingly, you've entirely misread what I wrote. I was actually including myself amongst the fans who would likely be disappointed at some level or other by whatever Disney may announce. I was quite disappointed by the announced expansion of Fantasmic! seating by adding more benches. I've been generally pleased with most of what is FLE, but that's not exactly high praise given I'm unlikely to visit more than a few times before it gets relegated to a "kids only" portion of the park. I expect a few rounds of the rides once the train coaster has opened and a bit of shopping and FLE will have seen the last of me.

Most of the critical fans don't bother me in the slightest, I agree there are aspects of Disney's operations that have criticism due. I tend to get on your case not because of your criticisms of Disney, but rather because of your arrogant treatment of other posters who disagree with you or find your caustic "wit" less than appealing. I've pretty much given up on you, you honestly believe your over-the-top arrogance is the only way to stir up the masses enough to get Disney's attention. I categorically disagree and neither of us is going to convince the other.

The general public who hear the announcement, whatever it may turn out to be will likely take it or leave it. It may sway some who were on the fence about visiting toward a visit, but the overall impact will probably not be significant unless a lot of we "loyal" fans genuinely buy in, which would probably take much more than a "more benches" announcement.

Another dud announcement... :)
I love the pessimism here! Things were not always that way. I guess this is the natural result of being strung along the coaster of Infinite Letdown's Wild Ride! I can dig it, but I hold out hope of a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow shinin' at the end of ev'ry day...

It's better to expect something pathetic than to have hope because Disney will not disappoint when you expect absolutely nothing...

That's logical, but you're also lowering your standards. We should expect nothing less than the cutting edge Disney built its reputation upon!

I wasnt disappointed with last years announcement. I didnt get to partake in any the activities, i still enjoyed the 24 hours in the park concept. While last years announcement was primarily about "One More Day", they also announced their weekly trip giveaway. One entry per day was permitted and then once per week they held a drawing for a trip to either Disneyland or WDW. I was sure!!! I was going to win one go those trips. Oh we'll. I will be watching to see what this years announcement is all about.

I hope there will be a big announcement, I'm not so sure there will be. I am honestly waiting for uni to announce Potter 2. Then, and only then do I think Disney will pull out the "Potter Swatter"

I'm not even going to tune in this year to hear about the announcement. Last years was so disappointing that I don't see a reason to waste my time.

Who knows....maybe ill actually be pleasantly surprised.

Yep, that will be called the "Extra Magical Minute" where something magical will happen for one minute each day. Things like FP++ to the bathrooms, or extra napkins with your meal. Wait for the truly magical Disney moment.

When they give us something cutting edge, then we'll start expecting it again.... Until then, it's only meet and greets, broken AA's, more princess crap, and complete and utter garbage...

Monty, I have neither the time nor the desire to discuss my alleged 'arrogance' or my 'wit' ... I know what works and why (both here and in regions beyond). ... So all I'll say is Merry Christmas!

HP 2.0 has already been announced, just not the details. Universal should be doing everything it can to downplay HP 2.0. They definitely want to avoid making a big deal out of it at this point.

Getting people excited about HP 2.0 now means people will delay their Universal vacation until it opens in 2014. Undoubtedly, Universal is desperate not to have HP 2.0 adversely impact attendance before HP 2.0 opens.

UNI absolutely doesn't want to talk Potter 2.0 now ... not with so much opening first, starting with next year's huge Transformers debut. Let people ponder and wonder and talk. They don't have to announce anything because they have the buzz. ... Disney does not.

So is it safe to assume that because it is being announced on network television, it will be something marketing related that includes BOTH coasts? So I am crossing off any major WDW addition or announcement off the list. I really don't know what it could be except for another push for Limited Time Magic. I think Disney realizes that the only people who even know about it are fans. This could give it more exposure to the general public. Not that anyone in the general public cares anyways...
