Another 24 Hours of Disney Event?

A one day ticket that has never been used is good forever.
Thanks. Also, I've been going to WDW at least every year since I was like five. When I went to UCF, I had a year's pass. Not much has changed, really, since 2006. I've seen Soaring at DCA. I haven't seen EE yet but Yeti doesn't work. Haven't seen Stitch, but I've seen all THREE versions of Alien Encounter. Haven't seen TSM and FLE. I can't wait to see what they did to HM. After riding the classics at DL, I really don't want to ride WDW's (minus Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion) again unless they really bring them up to the same level the DL varieties are.

I read your first post. And I read the entire first page. That's all a thread from 12/06 is going to get from me.

I respect your opinion and your right to spend your money any way you see fit when it comes to vacation time.

But I'll also say that you aren't accomplishing anything beyond staying away from a place you used to enjoy (and might again) because Disney doesn't care. They believe there's an unending supply of guests who have never been and will be wowed by the World in its current state. So far, they've sorta been right ... or right enough that the numbers look good ... or good enough.

I know I go to WDW far less now than I did in 2006. But I've also been to every Disney resort in the world (multiple times) since 2006 and taken a few Disney cruises since ... but I still spend time at WDW because I still enjoy it, it will always be my home resort and because of the friends I have in O-Town.

Are you planning on returning to WDW?

YES, I've been planning on returning for a while now. I live in West Palm Beach now, not Central Florida like years ago. It's a two and a half hour drive from here. That's why the 24 hour thing looks great because I won't have to worry about sleeping arrangements. Just drive up, spend the day-night there, drive back. I also want to see the other three parks, though. I guess I'll save those for another time.

Oh, about what you said. Don't ever start believing their reasoning. No company is immune to customer abandonment. Look at MySpace. KMart.

Let me get this straight (no fanboi jokes, please) ... but DLR is hosting this on the SAME night as what is supposed to be an exclusive private event for high school seniors?!?!

Yup. You can tell people who work in cubicles and have no experience with working in theme parks made that decision.

Al Lutz is saying May 24th. ... April 24th would make a whole lot more sense. I think that's what it has to be and he has it wrong. They aren't going to pull a stunt like this on the first holiday weekend of summer?!!

Al Lutz was quite clear that it was a bi-coastal event happening May 24th and 25th.

Perhaps they announce the 24 hour party officially on April 24th, a month beforehand, during the summer media kickoff event that day?

Isn't that the Friday before Memorial Day Monday and Star Wars weekend at WDW??

Why would they do it again? Did it seriously make the Parks that much money??

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a deliberate attempt to combat Sea World's opening of Antartica. At least for the 24 hour event in Florida.

They open Antartica that same day.

Ouch. :( It's a shame that this may actually be effective. SeaWorld spends hundreds of millions to bring one of the most innovative ride technologies ever created to the United States, and there's a good chance Disney will upstage it in news coverage by extending operating hours for a day. Poor SeaWorld.

I understand that's business and WDW can do whatever they choose.

I feel word of mouth will spread on Antarctica. WDW will continue to lose market share to the boy wizard and starting soon, to the marine life.

I'm unsure how I feel about this. The parks being open for 24 hours would be more special and exciting if it only happened once every four years, but you can't deny that this fits in brilliantly with Limited Time Magic (much more than the Dapper Dans singing boyband tunes, that's for sure!). I don't arrive for my College Program until the week after, but I'm not sure how I'd feel if I was made to work at this event... It would be exciting to be at the Magic Kingdom at 3am, but with all the chaos reported last year I wouldn't find it that fun if I was squashed or pushed about. The parks are open reasonable hours for a reason, and I think they should always expect crazy times when they go against this logic.

If the 24th May is Memorial Day, it makes little sense to have the parks open 24 hours. They are bound to have a lot of guests anyway, they do not need any more perks to get people through the turnstiles (or whatever the tap-in things are called!). February was a perfect time of year for One More Disney Day because it was non-peak. September or any time after Labour day would be a great time of year, I think...

I thought for 2013 DL changed Grad Nite to be a mix in event with a normal park ticket, and only have some exclusive activities for the wristbands-dance party, photo ops, etc. so no longer a true hard ticket
