Anna and Elsa - Just Plain Ridiculous.

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
Personally, I find it ridiculous to wait any amount of time to take pictures with people in costumes. But sadly, that's what appeals to the masses, more so than rides, I fear.

In some ways you are correct, many younger parents view the character meet & greets as their must do for the parks compared to us older parents who just want more rides. The younger parents I know spend more $$$ per day than we do but we do stay longer now. I can certainly understand a parent standing in a very long line if their children really want to. Vacations to WDW are supposed to be about the family, what everyone wants not just mom & dad and certainly not just want the little ones want. When my children were small, we would always wait to meet their "favorite" character at the time, they remember this and now my 21yo made revisiting Ariel a priority when she went with us at Christmas. Again, not my first choice of things I wanted to do but it was important to her and that is what WDW is all about to us, family making individual sacrifices so everyone gets to do what they want and get as much out of the vacation time we have together.

Character meets are just another form of entertainment, and with the money I'm paying, I definitely want to be entertained. And character meets can be very entertaining, especially if you can catch them at a slower period and they have more time for shenanigans. And who doesn't enjoy shenanigans?

Okay I hate to be a spoilsport here, but... is anyone else surprised Disney doesn't just have another "room" with the two princesses, like they do with
Mickey Mouse
? I mean it's not like they're building a third Soarin' theater for $100 million here, it's just hiring two more actresses being paid $10/hour. I would think the guest complaints that would be saved would be well worth it. I don't find the guest's excitement about the characters nearly as surprising as Disney's slow response to act on it.

That a why they are moving to Princess Hall.

We waited in it over MLK weekend and while it was a 5 hour wait due to the holiday it really was not that bad. My niece (7) wanted to see them so she agreed to stand in line with me the entire time and she did without one complaint. There were a lot of kids in line the entire wait and hardly any of them had an issue. It really did not seem like 5 hours (though it was) as a lot of people started to talk to each other about things and we got lucky being near a few groups of advanced disney go'ers like we are. Even met some wdw newbies that enjoyed learning about the parks, which drew other people into the conversations.

The move to MK is gonna be much needed as the soon coming heat would of been a major issue if left at Norway.

If people want to wait for hours in a line then it's worth it to them. That's a lot of people not waiting in other attraction lines. I'm all for it. For the parents whose kids are making them wait in a 4 hour line, as my mother in law once said about disciplining children, "Get them in the high chair, or get them in the electric chair." My answer would be no.

Kinda fun to figure that say a mom and daughter wait in line. Each paid $100 (just est.) for the day so $200 total and if they are going to be at the park for say 10 hours then a 4 hour wait is 40% of the day and represents 40% of the $200 total so $80 of expense spent toward the M&G for those 2. Now say the capicity is 50 people per hour and each of the 50 has a parent (very loose numbers) so 100 total admissions per hour times the 4 hours is 400 people in front of you if the line is 4 hours long and you are last. So 400 people devoting approx 40% of their day in line at the same time to meet the 2 princesses. So $16,000 in just gate revenue waiting to meet 2 likely $10/hour face characters. That is a nice profit margin. And maintenance costs are surely lower than Test Track.

I did the wait being told it was going to be 4 hours and it was about an hour and a half to two hours. It did it for 2 reasons one is 5 the other 4. I was a hero for a week and the wife kept brigning me a beer while I waited on line.
I retract my earlier post and I apologize for not thinking outside the box. In your case, everyone wins, and I would do it in a second!

We waited an hour for Merida, and that line was kinda crazy! I could never wait in a line for 4 hours, no matter who it was, sorry!:( I love Frozen, but I just can't imagine only going to EPCOT to wait in line for a MnG! There is so much more to see and do. I'd have to have a FP+ ! But, if your goal is to get a signature from all the princesses, then go for it! I wish they'd stay at EPCOT, and also have a place at MK.:(

I am from NYC, where people will line up for ANYTHING. They line up for a donut, I mean a cronut, for five, six, seven hours. They line up to get into new stores. They line up to get into movies the first day of release. They line up just to be in a line. I totally do not get it and I do not get why people would line up and wait five hours to meet a couple of out of work actresses dressed like movie characters. It seems like insanity to me. That said, it is your right to do so, and so by all means proceed. If anything, your kids will be happy and there will be that many people off the lines for the real rides.

As a mom, I didn't care for M&Gs til my kids began requesting them. Honestly, I have a fear of masked characters. Ridiculous, I know. Can't help it. The fear is there. Funny is I love Mickey...from afar. hahaha. Anywho. We've done the gang, the princesses, and the fairies but always with FP or GAC. My kids, girls and boy, LOVE Frozen. In fact, Tuesday, I was afraid to come home without it haha. If they asked, and I had a full cell battery with FPs, I'd do it. That said, I wouldn't be happy about it, but it's not cause of the wait. Honestly, I think Disney did a poor job portraying the sisters as face characters. Elsa's wig looks very obvious and the dress looks nothing as impressive as the animation. I feel they could have done a better job. Yesterday, the Anna in the parade was spilling out of the dress in the armpits and back. She looked squeezed in and much too old. Both of them looked too old.

I will admit this it is easier being a AP who live a 90 minute drive away also not in a rush to see everything as someone who is at WDW for a week. It was fun for me I have to admit some good folks next to me in line and we had some nice conversations not to mention a real good beer (well a few of them) from the cart to the left of the Stave Church and a sweet pretzel from Kringla.

I'm using a fastpass to meet them on my trip in may. I personally love to do M&Gs but without the fastpass I wouldn't do it. 4 hours is way too long! But 10-15 minutes in an air conditioned building to have Elsa and Anna sign my sister just like me books for me and my sister, worth it. :)

I agree, I just set up my fast pass to have my two girls meet them in May. They have seen the move about ten times now since the video came out on Tuesday. I will win major brownie points for making this happen.
