American Idol: Season 8!

Adam really should have been in the bottom three. America is voting based on personal favorites rather than who actually has the best performance. Of course, then again, maybe some people thought he had a good performance. I'm pretty sure Johnny Cash is turning over in his grave.
And this is not different from any other year. Don't worry...the cream will rise to the top. Alexis did NOT do a good job last night and she was really even worse tonight in her re-sing. America got it right.

The judges are only going to save the person who they feel are worthy of the top 5. Alexis may have lasted a few more rounds but not into the top 5.

I liked Alexis, but I'm not too sad to see her go. I think America got it right. I really do hope Megean goes soon, I can't stand those ugly tatoos.

I have to admit the tatoo covering the entire arm is a distracting and not pretty. She really is pretty, don't know why she had a rebel side in her

It's a singing contest! Tattoos shouldn't make a difference. I think Megan Joy has a very nice voice and certainly a unique style. I don't think she'll ever be a "pop" star, but she'd do very well on the folk circuit.

And Adam's rendition may have offended country fans, but all I heard were some really phenomenal vocals. Johnny Cash wouldn't roll over in his grave, he actually was a really classy guy, he'd accept that there are other ways to deliver a song.

My only surprise was that Lil wasn't in the bottom three... I guess she got her wish, people forgot last night's performance.

But the tattoos do make a difference, unfortunately! Yes, it is a singing contest, but there is so much more that goes into it than just their singing when people vote. They're also voting on personalities, lifestyles, looks, etc. The point I'm trying to make is to cover up the tattoos so that they don't work against her. She can tatt her whole body if she wants and be the greatest singer in the whole world, but it ain't gonna help her cause.

And, if Lil wins, I'm gonna buy her CD and send it to you!

Lifesyles. I was just thinking today, I wonder which Idol will end up on Sober living or Celeb Rehab. For those that don't know, two past Idol have ended up here :lookaroun

I agree, she has a really pretty face. I'd consider her one of the best looking girls in the competition if it weren't for that tattoo. I mean its one thing to have a big visible tattoo, but its another to have what looks like a tattoo artist puked on your arm.

Agreed, Monty. I heard the same vocals you did. I'd never pay money for that style of concert, but there is no denying that Adam has a phenominal voice. That performance totally blew me away, for that reason.

I don't know entirely what it is, but her singing doesn't do a thing for me. In most part because she is over-the-top "loud and proud" but doesn't hold a candle to the truly loud and proud: Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. Her "soft" singing and stuff in lower registers is off-key and horrible. OK, maybe I do know what it is!

Send the CD, I'll hang it from my rear view mirror... I've been known to like shiny things! :lookaroun

No, she really didn't.

I think they are saving it for another instance like Chris D.

No disputing Johnny was classy. I can't even dispute that Adam has the potential to do great things. However, I think he is so bent on being different and pushing limits he loses some of what makes him great. I would like to have seen him do something more upbeat and fun or something more along the lines of a serious ballad. Even though Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts are not in the Grand Ole Opry, I think Adam could have done one of their songs very well. Maybe not even a fun one. Perhaps "What Hurts the Most" would have been good. Again, I understand those are not valid choices for him because of the night's theme, but I can't think of anyone in the Grand Ole Opry right now that would be in the same realm of music as RF and KU. I'd like to hear him do a ballad. I think he would do a great job with something deep like that.

I agree that Lil should've been in the bottom three. She is a classic case of being voted for because she's a favorite. I honestly thought we should've seen a bottom four or five this week. Some people just really didn't have their game on this week.

The judges decided not to use their save because it improves the TV ratings not to use it so early. They must build suspense ... the desperate idol with the lowest vote total singing for their lives while the judges huddle ... the more weeks they can drag this out, the higher the ratings!

There was no way they were going to use the save now.

No, they said the save was intended for situations like Daughtry being voted off... So think in terms of an entire audience expressing shock and/or outrage at a particular performer being voted off. Then you might see the save used. They would never waste is on anyone who has already been in the bottom three on previous shows or someone who no-one is terribly surprised to see leaving.

At this point the only two I could see them saving if voted off would be Danny or Matt and I'm not entirely sure they'd save Matt. Sadly, if "Little" as Simon calls her were voted out they'd probably save her, despite her lack of talent.

I think you're right that they're "milking" the save process for more drama, but anyone who is honest can't think Alexis had even a glimmer of hope... Her arrangement and presentation of Jolene were horrendous the first time, even if she sang twenty times better it still wouldn't have helped. She probably didn't help herself by singing directly to the judges instead of playing to the audience, looked like begging to me.

Completely agree. I couldn't believe she even had a prayer of hope for the save.

Just for the record, I think Lil is quite talented. Not talented enough to win, but she does have a great voice.
I enjoy when she's belting out R&B, but anything quiet/soft/melodic or anything in lower register just doesn't work for me.
