Am I the only person who is not a fan of Pool Hopping???

Let me first start by saying that I do not mean any disrespect to anyone with this thread, but I have to say that the idea of pool hopping really bothers me!!

The last thing I want when I go to my resort pool is to find the place crowded both on land and in the water.. I hate getting there and finding no chairs available or so many people in the water that you can't move without swimming into someone or getting kicked by someone as they are swimming..

Granted I always assumed this was a result of a crowded resort, but now I must ask, is this a result of pool hoppers? And if it is, I have to say I would like to see more control of the pool areas to keep them limited to those guests who are paying for the priveledge of swimming there...

Am I the only person who feels this way???

It would be very easy for me to take cash from an open register while a CMs back is turned, would that make it right for me to do it because its easy?

In my stays at WDW, I usually stay at either the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, or Contemporary. So exactly where would any jealousy come in to play there? The above comment is as ridiculous as it is stupid.

Do you consider sneaking into the pool area "staying" at the resort?

Again...that's an 'apples and oranges' kind of argument. First, there's actual thievery in your analogy of the open register. There's none with pool-hoppers. Second, with stealing from a register, it's not a victimless action, unlike pool-hopping.

I was just trying to understand, but it's taking far too much energy for a Sunday afternoon. Afterall, I don't have to understand everything. I'll just leave this argument as one of the universal mysteries. And everyone can rest assured that you will only see me at my resort pool. :)

The thievery is directed towards Disney. They are not receving compensation from you to pay for the running costs of the pool.

The victims in the pool hopping are the paying guests. You are limiting their swimming space by occupying their pool which you have not paid for.

No, we're talking about pool hopping in general. At one time, guests at any WDW hotel could use any other hotel's pool. When they started building pools with larger slides, lazy rivers, all sorts of water play things, etc certain pools became overcrowded, so WDW added a rule that limited each hotels pool to guests at that hotel. The argument is whether or not, since you aren't given the 3rd degree and ordered to produce your ID everytime you go to a pool, WDW really doesn't mean for you to follow this rule. ;) If they want people to follow it, why don't they make it harder to break? ;)

WOW! I can't believe how people here have responded to this thread. From what I gather most of you would never stop at a gas station to use thier bathrooms without buying anything.
Going into a restaurant and sitting at anouther families table and eating their food is absurd. Walking into one to use thier bathroom would have been a better comparison and it happens all the time.
Sorry to have used a restroom example twice.
NOTE: Pool hoppers please dont pi$$ in my pool :lookaroun :lookaroun

If I stop at a gas station to use their restroom, I ALWAYS buy something, even if it's just a pack of gum or a coke. I would feel bad if I used their facilities without trying to compensate them in some way. It just (as far as my conscience is concerned) wouldn't be right.

I NEVER use a bathroom in a restaurant without buying something there...same reasoning as above. Just because I'm not breaking any written rule, doesn't mean I shouldn't do the right thing. And when pool hopping...there is a written rule being broken. ;)

Heading for the great escape.
So pool hoping is akin to bank robbery to some on this board. I sure wish I lived in a place where something like this was THE problem. Just ligten up people.

I dont pool hop but yes I do speed, I can do a length in seconds. jings crivens help ma bob, shot at dawn.

Pool hoppers should just move the parks to Scotland, no tresspass law exists here, oops there, forgetting my location. Theres no legal argument then.

As for pool hoping I see that its OK to use any of the pools at Port Orleans, so pool hoppers stay there and hop legally.:D

Since there is almost no chance of anyone being punished for this, it's fine with YankeeFan.

Yankeefan,
You should always eat at home! When travelling, bring your own food!

Again, there is no thievery going on whatsoever. And, there are no victims of pool-hopping. The pool is an added amenity that not even the guests of that resort pay for.

O.K. I have read just about every posting to this thread. I'll just add my two cents. The only reason I don't care for pool-hopping is that they take up the space that is limited for guests staying at the resort. If I'm staying at the Beach Club I am sharing my space with those who are staying at the Beach Club, Beach Club Villas, Yacht Club and the Boardwalk. Now I know its a large pool but with the newly added BC Villas there are more people. Having Diseny guests (staying at the GF or Contemporary) or non-guests (off-site) from outside these particular resorts does create a problem. I don't mind sharing as long as they are all staying within the confines of these particular resorts. On any given day I might not be able to get a chair. O.K. as long as the chairs occupied are by other guests staying within these confines.

Glad to get that off my chest.;)

Absolute rubbish. The running costs of the pool, the staff wages, the laundry service, all these have to be paid for.

I know WDW is a place where magic happens, but none of the above happen by magic!!!

All of these services, and more, have to be paid for by the hotel management and the budget for those costs comes from the price paid by guests for their hotel rooms.

As a guest you are paying for this 'added amenity' even if you choose not to use it. As a non-guest who trespasses onto property you are NOT paying for it, you are stealing the service.

Again, I disagree. Disney have to pay for the pool and it's associated running costs, and guests of that resort are having restricted space available to them in the pool due to pool hopping. I don't think those 2 concepts are hard to understand. You can deny it all you like, but those are the facts.
