Am I Remembering This Correctly?

This was about 15 years ago. I was at the Epcot bus station at the end of the night. At the area for All Star Music, instead of a regular Disney bus, they were herding people into this big trailer that was being pulled by a truck. I haven't seen this since. Does anyone else remember this?

Yes - I remember that well. We never used it, but I remember seeing it back in the 90's. We used to call it the cattle car.

Back in 1999 when we stayed at the ASM we were coming out of Epcot at close and we were walking to the bus stop and there was a LONG line..when we got up to the front of the line was when we found out that the line was our line for the bus. That is the night we found out about taxi's. We got back to the resort and the kids wanted to swin and i need to do laundry and it was only about 9:45 so that is what we did. It was 11:00 when we finished and was heading back to our room and there were still droves of people coming in and you could tell they had just gotten off the bus from Epoct. Tried, sleeping kids carring the masks they had made in the countries. OMG is all i could think..they had been in line waiting for a bus for almost 2 hours. We have never been back and will never go back to a value resort because of it. And we now take taxi's all the time. I plan on taxi money when i plan spending cash!!!! Having those trucks that night would have been GREAT!!!!!!

I have always wanted to do a photo essay of before and after shots. A morning shot of mom, dad and the kids entering the park, then the evening shot of mom, dad and the kids returning to the hotel. :D

You are remembering correctly, though I don't know what happened to that "bus" nor did I ever have a chance to ride it.

LMAO you would see a drastic difference to say the least. We just got back from our trip and at the end of the day we were usually dragging, hobbling, limping (due to blisters) back to our room to collapse. We usually looked like we just got done running a marathon, and on top of that my wife and I were extra sore from carrying our sleepy 3yr old son around.

I gotta say, my arms are a bit more tone now after carrying my son around for 7 days. LOL!!

That's a great idea.

I always dedicate a page in our photoalbums of what our kids look like at the end of each day. We call it the "Baked Baby" page. What's interesting is we pack pajamas for the kids and I don't think they've worn them in all the trips we've made. We carry them right from the car straight to bed.

This type of truck also bused people around Fort Wilderness in the mid 90's. The guy driving was always smoking cigarettes during our stay (in the separate cab). My friend and I spent most of one of our days driving around Fort Wilderness in our golf cart. The golf cart wires became disconnected from the batteries and we were stranded on side of the road. The driver of the truck on the way back from dropping off people stopped to help us and bummed a cigarette off of us. He fixed the battery issue for us and we chatted for a while. He said it happened all the time. I think we were 18 at the time, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

Are they waiting at the gates (like they do at the airport for people to look for a ride) or do you have to phone ahead for a cab?

I've been putting a lot of thought into cabbing it here and there if I need to do so.

Also, what is a typical fare? I do realize that fares vary depening on time and destination. If I'm only traveling on Disney property, how much thereabout per person?

I have actually rode on one of those. The inside is set up just like a bus, but a bit more room. They are nice, I think they ran them on high volume days

Not old, just vintage.
I've ridden the trailer/bus. I wish they would use them more frequently because they definitely can pack a lot more people in than they can on a bus.

I never rode on one of those, but back in the day when we were leaving the Studios, they had a "double bus" (basically two buses hooked together with a pivoting joint in the middle). The entire line was able to fit in it, much to the relief of all of the tired people waiting! We all dubbed it the "Super Bus" - I only saw it once after that.
