At Knott's now, a Bluegrass band will perform at 5, 6:30 and 7:30. Scheduled Fridays through Sunday. TGI Fridays and the Chicken Dinner Restaurant are open offering patio/outdoor service. Starbucks, Cable Car Kitchen, Doughknott's and Chicken to Go are all open, as is every gift shop.

Happy 4th!

Any chance the band is the 'Billies?

The Laughing Place in the movie is a state of mind, not an actual thing, and Kingdom of the Dinosaurs was a sterile retheme, not an actually good attraction. (My opinion, YMMV. 😃 Sorry—Gotta get this back on track as a Knotts post😃)

Kingdom was a great attraction that got me to love Knotts more than Disney for a period of time. My friends and I still quote the attraction to this day. Berry Tales was hokey as heck. I still remember those horrible figures from the fun house. Pure nightmare fuel.

Hokey is Good. Teenage Girls loved it, and as a Teenage Boy, I liked to ride next to a teenage girl.

Good times in my life back then.

Kingdom of the Dinosaurs was a let down from Bear-y Tales.

Then the Knott's staff thought they had something better than Midway Mania in the Iron Reef. Alas, the Haunt aka Entertainment group went dark, which limited its appeal.

Knott's demographic has shifted more to Family who love Camp Snoopy.

So when they needed to retrieve Iron Reeg, Bear-y Tales was the clear winner
Since most of the changes were Digital, cost effective was what sold the project to Cedar Fair.

If re-approved, Fort Knott's or Fort Calico is the teenage version of Camp Snoopy that will be Family Friendly.

But interesting to see a significant Local market share opting for Knott's over the DLR.

And yes, Disney's price point has helped that shift.

But so did bring in more live entertainment and atmosphere, things Disney has been cutting.

Kingdom of the Dinosaur was AWESOME sir. I disagree with you on that. Glad you are getting our Bear-Y Tales back but in a couple of years when it is pulling the same amount of lines as Iron Reef does... DINOS need to return properly.

Beary tales fits the theme of the park better than some random Dino ride. The bear's are making jam and jelly from Boysenberrys. That is unique to Knotts.

Once again, Cedar Fair tried Dinosaurs Alive at many of its parks, and closed them, basically due to lack of interest.

The Discovery Cube in Santa Ana tried a Dinosaur display a couple of years ago, and it didn't make a big jump in attendance.

Here is the Entertainment selling pitch for Iron Reef, interesting to listen to after the ride has closed.

But it doesn't really make sense in that area. Kingdom of the Dinosaurs fit perfectly with the Roarin' 20's Section. Beary Tales felt like a wannabe Disney ride without the money or creativity to create an original set of characters. With Knotts being partnered with Peanuts, a Peanuts dark ride would make far more sense than Beary Tales. Beary Tales always reminded me of The Orange Show in Texas, a sad art exhibit of junk and wind up toys that the owner thought would rival Disneyland. He died alone and heartbroken.
