mismanagement has been prevalent at Disney for the last ten years so it shouldn't be too surprising.

Do you EVER have anything positive to contribute?

Are you ALWAYS a negative Nancy?

If you despise Disney SO MUCH, why do you keep coming back here?

Another long T/A?

More proof why WDI needs to take control of creative developments and also to screen third party vendors like Kuka :lookaroun.

They have to put an end to these type of failures. And I think they have. You won't see any more knee-jerk tech rushed into the parks IMO.
Looking forward it's "Quality over Quantity". Walt would be proud!

This is strange. If the money was there before, when they were working on it, then why didn't they just finish the damn thing, instead of pussyfooting around. They could have finish the descent in a week if they had of set their mind to it.

Instead they have wasted their time and Siemens money and not finished the descent. So now Siemens has pulled the funding because Disney was wasting their time and Siemens money.

Disney supposedly has something set up behind the curtains and if they haven't come down yet I am assuming that whatever it is Martin has been hinting at must not work right or isn't fully finished. Why would Disney T/A something that isn't finished?

I would love to see a table service restaurant in America with a similar menu to the Blue Bayou at Disneyland. Although the New Orleans theming doesn't seemingly meche with the American Adventure building, the food or BBQ would be a much better offering than the other American fair at the quick service location.

As for the "other areas of Future World" that is receiving Siemens money, I was under the impression that their sponsorship only includes Illuminations and Spaceship Earth, have they sponsored anything else?

Right.
Hey there! Thought I'd share a bit of news/views from the park from June 6th:

- Most topiary from the F&G Festival has been removed. Walls are up over in Germany and Morocco, and shrub walls are also in place over by the East entrance to MouseGear and along the Rose Garden path as F&G displays are removed. The flower mural on the West shore has been removed, but the East mural on the Odyssey side is still there, looking very much dead now. The sooner its gone the better. The floating garden is still floating, and a few temporary tents are still up as well along World Showcase Promenade.

- Full entrance plaza BGM is back, as has been reported.

- Outside BGM around SSE seemed a tad louder (as did most BGM around the park). Its almost loud enough. Almost.

- Fountain of Nations isn't in as good a shape as I originally thought. Main super shooter (the one in the middle thats supposed to go up to 150 feet) is not working at all. Also, a number of the other 80 foot shooters are still crooked, the secondary arch nozzles are crooked/at the wrong angle, and the front three fans still don't go off during performances. Not good at all. :brick:

- Mission:SPACE audio was fine in the two capsules I rode in.

- Brake test TVs in Test Track weren't working. The non-ABS test had no TV, and the ABS TV (which was a new flat panel) was on but not working; probably still programing it to the right video signal. Still, bad show Disney! Also, thermal camera/screen just after the outside loop was not working. On the plus side, the brake test comparison screens were working, and those usually never work, so that was nice to see.

- Japan is now free of tarps. The pagoda looks very nice now. China still has some tarps up behind Lotus Blossom Cafe.

- IllumiNations was, for the most part, good. Perimeter wall luches were not working (why I do not know, there was no wind to speak of so that wasnt the reason). The Earth Globe was fine; all continents fully lit and functioning and torch came on perfectly. Chaos was good, as was Adventure for the most part. The waterfalls in Home are still a bit off, and the blue star fireworks in Celebration weren't together (as usual :brick:). Also, Torch #1 did not light at the beginning of We Go On like it should have; it did light just before the torch in the Earth Globe lit though. So, not too bad, but still room for improvement. I have video if anyone wants it; just give a shout and I'll upload it.

Thats all I can think of right now. The bad weather slipped just to the north and south of Epcot so while it was mostly cloudy for the day, there was only about 15 mins or so of rain for the whole day. Overall, it was a great day. :)

Nice report!

Glad the BGM is louder...But it still needs to be louder IN the attraction. Any intel on that?

FoN is so problematic...Maybe it needs a 3rd shift touch up.

RoE sounds pretty good! Glad that the barge is OK...Care to post the vid?:D

Walt wouldn't be to proud of a half done attraction though...:(
Not exactly.
Siemens provides a set amount of money each year as part of the sponsorship. A portion of that was allocated for the continued work on the descent. That money has run out for this year. (I hear.)
So...the work on the descent has stopped, and will resume at at later date, probably soon after the next Siemens check rolls in. In the meantime, WDI and management have turned their attention to other areas of FW.
(This is the vague information I got up there a week or so ago...if anyone knows different, please feel free....)

Ah. Makes sense, but it's insane how long this is taking. Are Triangular screens that hard to install ?

But they still should finish SEE by shutting down the whole thing for as long as it is required to do the job.

Exactly and that is why I used the term "looking forward". Bold new vision and all that.

Read my lips......No new Test Tracks, No new descent fiascos,
No new Yeti type failures and no new taxes.........oh wait.....:lookaroun.....nevermind the last one.

The EU is hip and cool!

I doubt that it's a technology issue. I think they have just been lollygagging around.

I highly doubt that we are going to be seeing any cutting edge technology that took two years to complete.

Are you disputing the average guest does not enjoy the descent?

Whooooole 'nother thread, Animaniac.:D That was a brand new attraction. Guests didn't know what to expect.

With SSE, though...We KNOW it's not done. Matterhorn was new and plussing it later on was more beneficial.

Right...I can install a TV hooked up to a mainframe in a day.

But to play devil's advocate...Perhaps there is something more to this than music and some screens? Maybe there is something behind the curtains...?

I think it's more curtains. And behind those? More curtains.

Pretty spooky.

I think you misread; Siemens will be putting what money it can into SSE and nowhere else - aside from contractural obligations with RoE. It`s Mouse Money that is going elsewhere.

So, with Mouse Money going elsewhere, come the new fiscal year, SSE gets it's descent, and then what? All Mouse Money goes to something new?
