What should the next WS country be?

I think a Brazil pavilion would be cool with an amazon river boat ride or a EMV truck ride like DINOSAUR in the rain forest or a EMV boat ride through the amazon.

How bout a South America-land at AK with the ride you mention?

As for WS, How about India?

Okay, since we're talking about World Showcase expansions and additions, anyone wonder if some of the ideas of WESTCOT would ever be possible in World Showcase at Epcot? Specifically, Im wondering if it would be possible to put themed hotel buildings behind some of the pavilions, and possibly have some pathways connecting them. Along the paths, there could be a few shops or restaurants for both guests staying in the rooms there and park guests at Epcot for the day. Then, possibly throw in some new pavilions and attractions as well and you have basically a new World Showcase. There is room, in some cases, a LOT of room behind most of the pavilions. All along the back side of WS there is additional space just waiting to be utilized. A few pavilions, like Japan and Germany might need to be re-worked a bit to effectively build something like this, but imagine being able to walk back into a second area of detail away from WS lagoon, and then follow a path all along the back to more shops, retaurants, and attractions. :D

Of course, all this would be depending on how much time and money Disney wanted to invest in a park that, despite what some of us may think, is on a pretty solid foundation of attractions. But one never knows. I just think it would be a great way to breathe new life into WS in a truly innovative way that would get people excited (after all, who hasn't ever wondered what it would be like to stay "inside the park"?).

Any thoughts? some renderings and layouts and more details would help, but its just an idea I've thought about only in the last few days.

The hotel idea would be cool but there are already 5 hotels within walking distance to Epcot.

Simple solution. Build the hotels in Epcot and then we can tear down the Swan and Dolphin. Clear sightlines restored and hotel rooms saved! :p :lookaroun

Relax, I'm just kidding about the Swan and Dolphin. Yes, that is the one glaring flaw with the idea, that there are plenty of hotels around Epcot as it is. Still, it would be an interesting thought, because the space is there.

Well I could be done if you charge more than a deluxe rate and offer the guest that stay there EMH at Epcot daily.

Hm, thats true, but that really starts running up the price! The other thing to consider is that with the current number of pavilions, there would be room for about 7 individual building wings ranging from about 40 rooms at the smallest (such as a UK hotel) to 80 rooms (such as the plots behind Morocco and Italy), each wing capacity depending on the length and height of the building. The reason for the limit is to ensure that the hotels don't ruin the perspectives of the pavilions. So, that would be somewhere in the region of 280-560 rooms total with the current World Showcase configuration. Of course, with more pavilions, the more space there becomes for rooms. So with that in mind, I suppose the price would have to be fairly high, and of course, the mere exclusivity of staying within the park would probably be enough for people to spend an extra $100+ a night.

I think we`d get the Med and Persian before any hotels in the park. South and West of WS you have canals, east the support area. Plus there isn`t as much room back there as you think to have onstage AND offstage areas.

On the topic of WS, there were some things meant for current countries, like that Rhine River attraction or the alternate AA.
But what about these:

United Kingdom

  • Audio-Animatronic show based on The Christmas Carol
  • Boat ride showcasing its landmarks
  • Crystal Palace-like Restaurant where the British Invasion stage is
Italy

  • A Roman ruins, "set for October 1983"
  • Pinocchio's Tuscany Village
  • Boat ride showcasing its landmarks
Canada

  • River Raft Ride featuring Brother Bear (covers Soarin' building nicely)
Morocco

  • Magic Carpets attraction

Note the common idea of either character integration or a boat ride. Like Meet the World attraction won't fit in Japan!

For countries I would like to see, in no particular order:

Russia - Sleigh Ride attraction sounds awesome
Iran -
Even with all the events over there now!
Argentina -
Spain is really an alternate, modern Mexico IMO
Greece -
Mythology will work wonders
Israel
- Just because the dining sounds appeasing
Australia - If DAK won't take it first... :lookaroun

I like that idea of a "in park" hotel in some countries like In DisneySea Toyko

Oh, I know, I'm just speculating. There would have to be some reworking of some of the current pavilion layouts. You're probably (what am I saying, you ARE ) much more aware and in the know as far as backstage operations and uses. I'm only going by whats on Google Earth and Bing maps, and I just see seemingly mostly empty space.

With that said, would it be possible to move any backstage buildings and storage areas to the open/future pavilion plots between the curent pavilions? There has to be some space to move things around...

So would Egypt. That could be done amazingly.

I still would like to see Greece, complete with a Greek Mythology darkride/thrill ride hybrid.
This.:D

It would be awesome, but very improbable...I could see it being done on WS East, though....Maybe with some ally ways and a river of sorts...

No it's just that I always felt DAK was are only chance at getting a hotel in a park. They built AKL and it wasn't in the park, and I don't think they will build a second hotel near DAK.

Ah, I see. Yes, AK would have been a great candidate for an in-park hotel...
