All EPCOT Center, All the Time- Part II

Yeah, I got confirmation on some of the 'rumors' floating around. Neato stuff is coming to the World and the waters are definitely no longer stagnant. The only thing I didn't get today was time frames. I'll see what I can get out of my source... :D

If you knew another division of your company was going to design/fund/build something, why would you bother going through the same trouble?
That would be a poor business practice.

Agreed but Disney could at least be a little more creative like with Expedition Everest. You don't see that at Tokyo. (but if you did the Yeti would probably work)

Isn't that probably true. :brick: But yes, exciting news for Soarin', assuming it is true, which it seems like it is so far. But if DCA is getting Soarin' in 2013... man, thats a long way away. I hope ours comes sooner... :(

It's fine that they are doing it. But it's the fact that they are never willing to shell out the money to be the first ones to get something. They have to be the ones to wait and get it cheap, instead of having initiative and doing it on there own.

Sorry, but being as cheap as possible is also a poor business practice when you are supposed to be the world's #1 vacation destination.

Yes, but remember Tokyo is not owned by the Walt Disney Company, so it is not as if it is just a different part of the company is paying for it.

It doesn't matter. If company A is willing to give me (company B) the resources to build a product similar to what company A is marketing, then I'd take it. Is it cheaper? Yes! That's the whole point, to do things as cheaply as possible. Of course some things can be done too cheaply, so one must be careful.
WDW did all the R&D for Tower of Terror, Test Track, Star Tours II...
DL did it for Soarin', etc.
TDL did it for Pooh.

The first to do something will always more than the second guy.
Kind of like brand name drugs and generic drugs. Are generics always as good? No, but they can be.

Right...And remember, didn't attractions premiere at WDW?

As anyone who reads my posts knows I'm a huge "original attractions" guy. It's why I feel in love with the parks and it is what I feel is sorely lacking presently. With that said, I'm not upset with management waiting for Tokyo's Soarin film. It does make sense. But it would be nice for WDW to be the trend setter on some things in the future though  It doesn't look like that is going to be the case any time soon.

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Tower of Terror are both attractions that started out here and were cloned later on. Our Buzz Lightyear is the ORIGINAL shooting gallery ride, which is why it's not as high tech as the later versions of it. Our Tower is also the only one that goes forward...

The Test Track ride system, which originated here, was already used for Journey To The Center of the Earth and will be used for Radiator Springs Racers. There are still original attractions that have appeared in Florida, just none within the past several years.

Weren't the Rocket Rods the first generation of the Test Track/Jourey to the Center of the Earth/Radiator Springs Racers ride system?
