:p It does. Go read it for yourself.
'waiting to say I told you so in four years'
What I mean is that iit makes perfect sense to change a film about Soarin' Over California with a ride about Soarin' over the World in a park dedicated to CALIFORNIA.

They got rid of Golden Dreams to make way for LM. Talk about cheating your park's concept.

That's because Golden Dreams was not popular and not a repeat experience.

True but the park is not only aimed at California. There are rumours abound that it is going to be renamed to make it Walt Disney's Adventure. (or something along those lines) The california concept is going to leave.

While I'm not wild about the Walt Disney's Adventure rumor, I do hope they just put the California theme out of its misery because its SO limited. There's just not that much you can do with it.

Not to my understanding.

Actually, Test Track was intended to open in 1997, but didn't have its grand opening until March 1999, after Rocket Rods had opened in 1998, so it kind of goes both ways.

The California theme is not going anywhere. It is being rethought to be quite literally Walt Disney's California Adventure, starting with his arrival in California. The name will most likely not change.

The only real land that doesn't fit the California theme is a bug's land (unless you consider it a tribute to agriculture, which it originally was). Carsland is a celebration of car culture and route 66, both part of California's history. Hollywoodland is obviously still California, as are Grizzly Peak, Paradise Pier, and Pacific Wharf. It's only within each land that the theme weakens.

Yep. Though close time wise, the Rods were based on the R&D for Test Track, which began development somewhere around 1993.

The big thing here was the possessive "Disney's". Conceptually the re-designed park was supposed to be California when Walt arrived, so the new version of the partner's statue would feature a younger Walt, with a classic Mickey Mouse.

That's nice...Would be a interesting nod to what's across the esplanade...

Eh, I still think they should just can the California theme and retheme the whole park while keeping some of the current things to a theme more appealing.

I think the new partner's statue may have been cut, though I hope that's not the case. It's a perfect compliment to Disneyland. Main Street is Walt's home town as a boy, and the park itself is the ideals, dreams, and hard facts that created America seen though Walt's eyes.

Disney's California Adventure will be about Walt as a young adult and how his dreams became reality, including the theatre that would premiere his first film, and an amusement park- his inspiration for Disneyland. Within each land are characters he created, or characters created by his successors. In essence the park is a celebration of Walt Disney and his enduring legacy. It's kind of confusing, but I think it may work.

Agreed in full...The miroring effect would be perfect for Disneyland. On one side, the result. On the other- The experience that lead to it. I love it.

It is an incredible concept. I don't think the partners statue has been cut. The only thing being cut is the "Walt Disney Story" concept from the Carthay theater, that seems to be in limbo. I'm really hoping the Disney family is not asking TWDC to scale back the concept. The "Walt Disney's California Adventure" idea and the new Walt Disney Museum can and should compliment each other. I know the Disney family does not want Walt turned into a "pop icon" but I don't think the DCA concept would do that at all. Hopefully I'm wrong and DCA will be all about Walt's legacy. :)
