Oh tell the truth, you had you eyes closed the whole time:dazzle:

That's the only way M:S could possibly be boring...unless you have no sense of adventure...:lookaroun

I would agree with you, if I thought Disney would produce a new Energy pavilion that's just as amazing as the original Universe of Energy was, but there is no way the modern corporate climate would allow that.
But luckily, updating Universe of Energy is relatively easy and cheaper, so they will probably go that route, and hopefully produce a new, exciting, superb show.
Hey I just found out there is a new CES next week in Las Vegas. I think the concept of a "trade show" would be perfect for Epcot but instead dealing with energy. There are so many cool new energy technologies and Epcot would be the perfect place to showcase them. Just a thought.
:ROFLOL:Yeah, cool! They could call it Energy Exchange, and maybe have it right across from Universe of Energy at... oh... wait...
:ROFLOL:
A yeah, I meant a little more extensive than that.

No, it can just be boring..and to me it is..and I have a sense of adventure.. (M:S is in no way an adventure to me)...I just have the right kind..That's the only way M:S could possibly be boring...unless you have no sense of adventure...:lookaroun
How has it changed?
Mine was 3 days long in 1995 and it was so much fun! Many years ago, it used to be several days long. Now it is just a couple of hours. At mine almost five years ago, I had to restrain myself from making several corrections throughout the class.

Sad that they only have it be a few hours now..![]()
I say rip out Ellen, have a introductory film explaining the need for new energy..And then explain the mission: You go back in time and collect energy as you ride through time when the world was new and energy was still abundant. Then the finale would show how much energy you collected and how it will be used in the future...Informative, fun and it inspires.I would agree with you, if I thought Disney would produce a new Energy pavilion that's just as amazing as the original Universe of Energy was, but there is no way the modern corporate climate would allow that.

For me, my big issue with M:S is that it is too cut and dry.
You go through a neat queue, have a unique ride experience (Dub E, my hubby had a REALLY hard time getting over the close quarters. You are no wimp to me), and you get off and walk through a pretty sparsely themed hallway.
To me, there was nothing to sink my teeth into. For my next visit, I want to try to find out more about the ride to see if that enhances my experience. The ride portion was really cool, but I walked away shrugging my shoulders...
I am glad to hear the differing opinions to make me really want to take another spin!
Maybe Wawa should sponsor Spaceship Earth. You order a sandwich during the descent ' and then pick it up in the post show.Several pages ago, someone mentioned that touchscreens are not our future. I'd just lik to say tha touchscreens appear everywhere these days; form the menus at Pecos Bills, to the iPhone, to your desktop computer.
I'd say that these screens are indeed part of our future
Now, I say we call a vote of cloture. :cgrin:
Here's my take on Mission: Space -
It is okay for what it is. If one goes in and pretends they really are about to go on a training mission, and then while riding lets that continue, one can have a fun time. I am not a huge fan of this attraction..as it is yet another 'Disney Attraction' that has me watching video monitors in the dark ( groan..i can so that at home, thank you very much..)
BUT for what it is, it can be fun. Now this is coming from someone who has never done the 'real' version of M:S ( Orange Team). Yeah i wimp out and always go Green! I can't handle spinning sensations on most rides, so have never done M:S 'properly'.
I rememeber when M:S first opened - It was trumpeted like the best thing since sliced bread and EVERYONE wanted to ride it. At that time i was not able to take part as there was only ONE version ..the 'true' experience with all the spinning and weightless simulations. Then came all the bad press about the attraction..you know, people dying after riding it ( granted, it was primarily because Guests did not heed the slew of warning signage before boarding...). After the bad press, Disney started offering two versions of the experience- 'Orange' and 'Green' so i was finally able to try M:S out.
My first ride...i remember it well. I think the real buzz about the whole thing was NOT the actual ride experience, but moreso the 'build-up' beforehand. The Pre-Show does a very good job of making it seem much more serious then it is..but this is good considering the themeing ( i mean, we are supposed to be training to be astronaunts in space!). SO that was pretty intense my first time through. It left me second guessing if i made the right choice. The knees....they were a knockin' before the loading doors while that countdown was happening!
The ride itself was neat...the simulation ( though the tamer version ) was pretty cool and i enjoyed it. I have a overactive imagination anyway and could easily pretend i was 'shooting into space'. That was the neat part. I always liked attractions that ask the Guest to partake in the 'let's pretend' aspect. The motion simualtion and sudden bounces were novel as they helped 'sell' the realisim of the situation.
Okay....so i liked it! Now comes the part i was not overly keen with: the EXIT! Here we get out of our ride 'boxes' after experiencing a rough landing on Mars...walk down a corridor ( are we at a Mars space station??) and come into a game room basically...then the standard gift shop. Awwww....what a letdown! It would have been better i think if the theming of actually 'arriving' on Mars was played up more when exiting. I suppose one could say 'well, the corridor/game area can be thought of as the Mars station'. Yeah, i guess you could....but it always left me with a cold first impression. I did'nt feel that the first time and i certainly do not after several others pass throughs.
Anyway, just thought i would share my thoughts on my first-time experience with Mission: Space.
Now getting back to the topic.........SSE!
So.......has it been decided then? HAS Disney given up on the finale?

Universe of Energy said:The Universe we know is one of dynamic forces, its heartbeat sending a constant flow of energy coursing through the vastness. This energy is never destroyed, nor is new energy ever created. But energy is perceived in different forms.
Sorry! I meant more readily available!:dazzle: Easier to see! :zipit:WHAT?! :fork:
Anytime! Have a good trip!Hey no problem...i just went back abotu four pages ( or was it five) and people were still talking about M:S and what to do with the ol' WOL Pavillion! I was wondering what the verdict ended up being for poor ol' SSE. Thanks for letting me know!
I'm back On Property in two weeks....i will let you guys know if i see any new additions in the decent.
( hope so....hope so....oh gee i hope so.....)
