I think The Land is the best, current example because of Soarin'. However, I think WOL did a better job and is slightly better than the current version of The Land. :animwink:

*loves the AE idea jt04*

Thank you! :)

Once they update the soarin' movie and if it relates to "The Land" theme in some way then it will have my vote. I'd also like to see a new 3d film in the circle of life.

I keep reading about new 3d technology that is emerging and it seems to me it would be great if WDW installed in the Land to revitalize that theater. Just a thought.

If you did all of the above and depending on waits, you could spend between 3-6 hours in the pavilion. That's more along the lines of the late, great EPCOT Center.
Sigh. Too true. Get in the (continuously moving) lines with no FP. You could figure on 30-40 minutes for each Omni including riding. Earthstation was a great place to sit for 10 minutes. Play on WorldKey. Spend 15 minutes waiting for Energy, then 45 - 50 minutes riding. Horizons could take up 40 minues. Motion, an hour or two if you wandered the (much bigger display and much smaller showroom) Transcenter. Imagination again could take 2 hours plus with the longer ride, lavish Imageworks and Magic Eye Theatre. The Land... 90 minutes to 2 hours. The Living Seas - half a day if you wanted to see and read everything. Now there`s an interesting concept. Reading! Life came along and swallowed up another half day if you wandered all the displays as well as the 3 attractions. And then Communicore. You could honestly spend a day meandering through both buildings. In natural light too.

In 1987 and 1990 I spent 2 days in EPCOT Center and only saw the highlights. In 1993 I had more time but still missed so much. At its pinnacle I dare say you could take 5 days in the park and still miss the finer details. Nowerdays its SSE to M:S to Soarin' to TT to Ice Cream. How many guests even realise that big fountain performs a show I wonder.

I don't think that every pvilion should have a food service location. The only pavilions where a restaurant would make sense are The Land, Seas and WoL.

The Land would serve food grown from the earth. (not Mars, that's for Mission:Space :lookaroun)
The Seas would serve seafood, although it is ironic that the theme of the pavilion is somewhat thrown away in the Coral Reef.
WoL would serve "healthy" foods, or those which benefit us.

Each of these pavilions has(d) some sort of food service location and that is enough for FW. Now, with the closure of WoL, there are two table service and one food court in FW West. Whenever WoL is replaced, I would like to see another food service location in there. It makes it a bit easier for guests coming out of TT who find themselves low on fuel, who wish to get something to eat.

Don`t forget FW east also had Odyssey, west also had Sunrise Terrace. Perfectly balanced. How they thought loosing Odyssey and Sunrise could be compensated by adding an upper level to Electric Umbrella I`ve no idea. Now Pure and Simple has gone Umbrella is like a riot in the middle of the day. Yes it was July, yes it was busy, but more than once last year I didn`t think I was in Disney when I saw the mess that was the Umbrellas ordering and serving area.

You are right for now. But if they go back to the roots of Epcot, each pavilion will be so immersive (as Martin detailed so well a couple posts above) that rather than leaving the pavilion to find refreshments an option will be available in every pavilion for at least a light snack.

It amazes me that Disney does not complete FW as they must know that with a bit of effort the EPCOT parking lot could be full nearly everyday. I just shake my head in disbelief at the missed opportunity that the park is right now.

But someday someone will realize it and fix the place. I do believe that. I also believe someone is moving things in the right direction but just does not have the budget necessary---for now.

From SSE, to JII, to The Land, to Soarin, to The Seas to the Food.

I love this thread....:D

Shall we hit up WS next?

Are we actually finished discussing FW?

I thought of a way they could build a full service restaurant at Imagination. Tear down the theater and increase it's "footprint" and replace with a two story building. Put a small attraction or exhibit on the first floor and a resaturant (with plenty of windows) on the second floor.

I laugh when people say this thread is "off topic". It really depends on what your definition of "Spaceship Earth" is afterall.:p

Now I wonder if Disney has plans to add a new pavilion to WS?

Interesting thoughts on the JII Restaurant...I still vote for Merf's Coffeehouse/Starbucks, though.:p

And I would LOVE for at least ONE new Pav in WS. It's possible.

I just get stuck on the Starbucks as it does not seem "imaginative".

Hey just to finish the restaurant idea for Imagination. :D

Why not an Imagineering theme where the "Lunch with an Imagineer" program moves over from DHS to EPCOT. They could have two or three "shows" a day where people have reserved seating for the meal.
Guaranteed to be sold out everytime. And a smaller restaurant would make the experience more personal. Of course the downstairs could be a permanent "Blue Sky Cellar".:king:

Someone mentioned putting a BSC in Odyssey put I think Odyssey would be better used as part of an expanded "Transportation" Pavilion. :)
