I don't think they wanted to lower expectations, or else they wouldn't have ever installed the descent as-is to begin with.

So they've been doing work, leaving boxes of stuff laying near the descent (That I've seen personally) and moved all of these black curtains around for what? nothing?

Not for nothing, but I think fan expectations might be a tad high for this "completed" descent. The focus is still going to be on the screens I bet. And that means fundamentally the descent we have now isn't going to change much.

Glad you have joined us. Resistence was futile.

Because they've been told different. I'm not questioning the validity of our sources. I am, however, beginning to question their sources on this matter.

Sources are not always correct. So this is wise. ;)

Here's a "What If"

Remember when we were first hearing about this refurb of SSE and how it was going to have an amazing ending where we saw ourselves in the "future".

What if what we saw as the highly disappointing ending was not supposed to be the real one, maybe that was supposed to be a temporary fill-in all along while they were going to quickly open the real descent with some real technology around you and some things on the screens, but for some reason (budget cuts, etc.) this was delayed and we've been waiting for the slow transformation ever since.

Yes, it's a stretch and it feels like more than Disney is really striving for these days, but who knows?

This isn't a what if. It's what we've been discussing for 18 months. Never have I seen Disney "plus" a ride piece meal over 18 months. Even in this economy, I don't think they'd do it. Which is precisely why, I think the descent has been done for quite some time.

i will second this. almost daily(i try to go at least every other day when i dont work) there are boxes along the side of SSE. last time i checked it wasnt a Quick service food and beverage attraction so those arent french fry boxes

Where at SSE? They could simply be a drop off point for anything. Perhaps even the VIP lounge????

And to add on to that....

I don't question Martin or Lee. They've been very good at this game for a long time. But sometimes wrong info is sent down the chains. It happens.

^ It`s not just info; I was shown myself last July what was added, what was lurking in the dark, what infrastructure was added and where. I know that ride enough to know what wasn`t there for the Irons version.

I`m not trying to convince anyone, least myself - I`m just saying I`ve physically seen installed items as well as been told by others what they are for.

Thanks. Appreciate that. My info on SSE is nowhere near as solid as Martin's, but I really will be surprised if I've been lied to.

And seriously...if it is a hoax...and if Ashton Kutcher pops out with a big grin...I'm gonna give him a serious beatin'.

I've seen the triangles. Five rides in one trip. Two rides they were on, and the three other rides two days later they were off. Why? I have no idea. I agree, there's stuff there, I just don't think it's as elaborate as we're hoping. :(

No problem. ;)

I'll pose this question. Have either of you been given info on a refurb, and seen it take this long to finish since it's re-opening? I've never recalled it occuring.

Ummm....nope, can't think of one.
Seriously, between this descent nonsense and the ups and dows (hah!) over at Space Mtn....my hair is getting grayer by the day.

Up to now? No. Last November I was told the descent could be done by February, then over Christmas I was told elements may not be ready until April. And now it is April. I`m waiting as much as the next person.

I think the problem with fan expectations of the descent is the length of time it has taken to complete it. I think had the triangles been installed, and an instrumental version of Tomorrow's Child played in the background as you did the vision of your future than this thread would be 250 pages shorter.

Well it is just now April, isnt there a chance (even if a small one) the switch might be flipped to on, at least we will have traingles that glow correctly in unison if nothing else? Theres two to four weeks left in the month for that to happen. I 99.99% though do not forsee Tomorrows Child coming in any form. But would at least like to see all the triangles working, they couldnt have just added them to sit there black as ugly panels. Now as for the curtains.....I guess this is the route of Imagineering these days, which is very sad.

My impressions were that most people were discussing some atmospheric elements around the descent that would be in addition to the screens now, my What If is a lot different than that.

Just rode SSE today 4/3, and again since I was on last a couple weeks ago theres nothing new as such to report, but I think more triangles have been added in there yet again!!! Especially that big space where the three come to a point where the glitter city use to be, that whole area is now filled with them!! Some glowing, some edges glowing, some not on at all, and I could have sworn there are also many more right over head above the line of vehicles as you keep going down.

So I dont know. I think at this point those black sheets are not coming down (boooooooooo to you Imagineering and Siemens) but I do think there is more to come with these dumb triangles, hopefully they will all eventually glow and be turned on but um why is it just the edges on most of them? Why dont they have the entire panel glowing? Its strange and a half baked implemented idea for sure. Its clear a job has not been finished but at the same time its like they tried and gave up.
