Was it gaudy? Yep.

Did it have odd theme? Yep.

Was it "Disney"?

To me, yes.

We were always very comfortable there. Frankly, I liked it MUCH better than my room at POFQ, which was run down and disgusting. Then again, I believe CBR had just moved to these designs recently in 2010...so...maybe that was it.

POFQ, while a similar "style", just felt run down and cheap. Along the lines of Pop. At least as far as the room goes (the resort is still amazing outside of the room experience I had).

The Nemo and Pirate rooms were added in 2010, and the Port Orleans Princess rooms in 2012, but the regular rooms didn't get refurbished at the time so if you got a themed - sorry, 'decorated' room - it would have been quite nice but an old room would have seemed a bit ropey. It sounds like you had a refurbed room at CBR but a 'pre-furb' room at POFQ.

I think soon all the CBR rooms will have been refurbished, as they're turning a section of it into DVC so want to make sure it all looks appealing to the gullible saps falling for the timeshare sales pitch. If that ploy works, I'm sure they'll try the same with a chunk of Port Orleans.

I'm sorry, what?

Rumours have been going around for a while that the next phase of DVC is converting existing regular room inventory into DVC rooms. First up is Wilderness Lodge, but the plan is then to attack Caribbean Beach. They've done a lot of work at the high end of the market, with things like the Poly Pizza-Huts and the Grand Floridian Villas, so making a cheaper DVC block might help them rope in more customers who might be scared off by the price points at the Deluxe options.

As with all DVC though, nothing is confirmed in advance - all my knowledge on this comes from rumours I've read on these boards, so it might never happen.

I knew about Wilderness Lodge, but I had no clue about Caribbean Beach. Ugh. The DVC monster still needs fed.

That is NOT the menu they post online.

And it is NOT the restaurant that is open...even though the site says it is.

And is an example of how they manipulate the stuff I said earlier...in another thread.

Tomorrowland Terrace should hardly be considered a food option, and yet, the site says it's open all the time. When in fact, it is not.

I go to the World about once a month, for about the past three years straight. I have never seen the Terrace open. I have sat at the tables though for a rest. Now, granted I never go during the Summer (june to mid-august) and late winter (back half of decemeber). This is due to our seasonal pass blackout dates and common sense.

There's also Astro-Orbitor, which is really the only other Dumbo clone you need considering the elevation gimmick makes it stand out from the others a lot more distinctly.
Plus Astro seems like it spins a bit faster too. Maybe it is just me but I kinda felt like I was in a mini Gravatron type ride last month. Maybe it was just because it came out of the nice refurb, had some extra spin or something. But I was continually pressed up against the side of the rocket ship as it went around. Maybe it is just the fact that you are squeezed into a little rocket too. :cautious:

So I saw it reported on another site that it is confirmed that the 'Skipper's Cantina' is coming to Adventureland and it will be a restaurant themed to the nearby Jungle Cruise. The back story will be that the boat skippers needed to open the restaurant to supplement their poor income they receive from the Jungle Navigation Company.

One interesting point that was made is that this is a significant concept in that it is a restaurant themed to an original WDW ride and NOT a movie.

That...could actually be kinda cool.

Wonder if everything will taste like chicken?

I was wondering on what the food will be like. Also, will there be drinks? Only wondering because of BOG, doesn't matter to me either way. I belive this to be true, as I have been hearing about it for the last year. I really like the concept, fingers crossed they do a good job... Don't let us down Mickey;)

It is not based on a film, but it is the same unimaginative nonsense of having to be "Disney."

I kinda get what you are saying, but I think that having theming that connects things within a theme park land is a good think. Adventureland tends to have an issue of having too many unrelated motifs.

What do you mean? Agrabah fits perfectly!

Agrabah=desert=sand=beaches=Polynesia= Tiki room.

It's all there in perfect harmony!
