Adults at Character Dining

I am doing some advance planning for my next big Disney trip and though I have been to Disney countless times, I have never had a chance to do character dining. I am a total Disney nerd and I would love the chance to see more characters. However, my husband and I have not started a family yet so we would be there by ourselves.

I expect that it will be mostly families there, but do you ever see people without children in those restaurants? The character dining places we want to go to are Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, Cinderella's Royal Table at MK (kind of a character experience), and Crystal Palace Buffet at MK. Any advice would be appreciated....I just don't want us to look like creepy child predators. Thanks!

My boyfriend and I (mid 20s in age) did Crystal Palace on two different trips and on our trip last year we did Chef Mickey's. All three times we didn't feel out of place at all. Then again we both are big kids. LOL

IMO character dining is the best way to meet characters without having to wait in all those long lines.

I don't think it is weird at all and I don't think anyone will either. My DH and I go (32 and 38 - no kids yet) to the character dining places all the time!! They are fun and yummy!! We've done almost all of them and on our next trip doing 3 or 4. It's totally normal!

DH and I (both over 50) go to at least two character meals per trip. We don't feel funny, out of place or anything else. We enjoy the food and still enjoy getting our pictures taken with the characters.

My husband and I are both 54 and are going alone this Dec without the grandson and his parents. I am definately going to Tuskers for breakfast with the characters.I saw many people without kids.Besides this is the best food when it comes to Character breakfast.. We might also go back to Crystal Palace, and 1900 park faire. We ate late breakfast so that we could go all day and then eat counter service later and not miss any parades fireworks etc, I do not care who looks at us as they are so busy with their kids and the characters who's gonna talk.... Disney is for old people too I saw them last trip. In their 70's and older. After all it is the happiest place on earth when you get to forget you have a real life you have to go back to..

My DH & I (26 & 27) have done almost every character dining experience by ourselves, and had a blast! We saw other adults/couples at Crystal Palace & CRT. Chef Mickey's was a while back, I'm not completely sure about that one. Akershus at Norway was the only one where we were literally the only people w/out kids, but we still were comfortable. The characters treat you just like kids, and it's lots of fun.

Crystal Palace was our favorite of all of them! Delicious :)

Thank you guys, that puts my fears at ease. I just did not want to have people pointing and staring as hubby and I dined. Would be a little awkward. I will definitely go ahead with my plans. :)

Before having a baby, Slappette & I did plenty of character meals. It's your vacation, your money, ain't no law against it. Do what makes you happy.

My husband and I did 1900 Park Fare and the old character breakfast at the Studios in 1996 on our honeymoon. We had a blast. I didn't feel out of place or even think about it.

Disney is definately a great place to let out your "inner child", after all they need some play time too!:animwink:

My DH and I (29 and 31) do mostly charachter dining everytime I am there. The charachters do not discriminate by age and they spend just as much time taking pictures with me as they do the kids! I have NEVER EVER gotten a weird look!

Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace are not a problem...

But I would not DARE venture into Cinderella's Royal Table without a little girl(princess/high maintenance child)...lol... I don't think I'd want to venture in either way... but yeah...

I'm 33 and have done many character meals solo and with my 45 year old DH.
I've never had a problem and never been the only couple there without kids. The characters have funny things to say to adults and are happy to pose for pictures.

I think no matter who or what you are, it would be a shame NOT to go to the character breakfast's. Meaning they serve the best breakfast foods. If you miss out on this fearing people staring then you missed some good food with entertainment.. As far as CRT, lotta money for not so much food, if we are alone. When our new grandaughter soon to be born reaches the age to take her around 4 then I will have saved enough money up for all of us to eat at CRT. Probably be about $60.00 per person by then if not more..ha ha:lol:

I've been to Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace solo and then Chef Mickey's with a friend. I seriously thought I would be so awkward being by myself but the CMs and the characters go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. GO! Go and have fun.

No matter how weird you think you look or seem, you're never out of place at Disney!

My boyfriend and I are doing the character breakfast at Crystal Palace and never give it a second thought. It'll be so fun-we're so excited!

Glad to see you are going ahead with your plans for character dining. You will enjoy it and not feel out of place at all.

Me (58), my husband (64) and my sister (62) LOVE character meals. We never had children but don't feel we shouldn't meet the characters because of that. We're willing to stand in line just like everyone else to get that special picture.:sohappy:

We had 5 adults(just us big kids) for dinner at the Crystal Palace last Wednesday, and we all had our pictures taken with all of the characters. We do this every year, and we have never given it a second thought.

I love doing character dining, usually solo (I just need 4 more meals to have done them all). And I also have seen other parties of adults at character meals. It's a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it to others.

Yep. Count me as another adult who digs character meals (especially breakfast!)

My mother and I do all the stuff the kids do...wave napkins, shout, dance near the table, parade around the dining room.

No one looks at us strangely...and everyone smiles!
