Adults at Character Dining

My DW and I don't have any kids and we always try to get at least one character meal per trip. On our last trip we ate at Akershus Princess Storybook Dinner. It was our favorite character meal so far. The princesses spent a good amount of time at every table even adults only tables. We have eaten at all of the restaurant that you want to go to. They are all good and also have good adult table character time. The only 2 character meals that we had a problem were 1900 park fare breakfast and donald's breakfast safari at Tusker House. The food was just ok in both locations, and we felt the characters didn't want to spend any time at our tale because there weren't any kids at our table.

My daughter (20) and I try to do at least 2 character meals a trip - always had a good time, waving the napkins, talking with the characters and getting pictures.

My next trip in September will be a solo one, and I'm plan on doing Chef Mickey's for my birthday (I'll be turning 52.) So go for it!

I usually go solo to character meals all the time. Don't let what others think stop you from going and having fun with the characters.:)

I am doing some advance planning for my next big Disney trip and though I have been to Disney countless times, I have never had a chance to do character dining. I am a total Disney nerd and I would love the chance to see more characters. However, my husband and I have not started a family yet so we would be there by ourselves.

I expect that it will be mostly families there, but do you ever see people without children in those restaurants? The character dining places we want to go to are Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, Cinderella's Royal Table at MK (kind of a character experience), and Crystal Palace Buffet at MK. Any advice would be appreciated....I just don't want us to look like creepy child predators. Thanks!

I did Ariel's Grotto with 4 people, two guys in our early 20s and two girls same age range a couple years ago..no problem.

Last week I did CRT with my girlfriend and now fiance, we were going to originally do crystal palace but when the table at CRT opened up...no way was I gonna turn that down. No problems either.

I don't think it would be weird unless you went to a princess type character meal with a group of adult guys...

so don't feel weird. Honestly I wanted to do breakfast at Ohana with Stitch really badly but it was all booked.

Adults love characters too!

My husband and I have done character meals several times. One of our favorites was Goofy and Friends at the Liberty Tree in MK. I'm really sorry they are no longer there. The characters interact with adults who are dining without children, and in fact, seem to really enjoy it.
I say go right ahead. It will probably be one of the most memorable meals of your trip.

I do and enjoy them. Although there is such a thing as too many. As long as you don't ask for autographs, you should be fine :). Sometimes it's fun to have a little small chat with the ones who can talk or just goof around with the others. Of course pictures are a must.

Why can't adults ask for autographs? There is no problem with that.

Just to echo what has already been said you will not be out of place and shouldn't have that feeling. My wife and I do not have any kids but do at least one character meal each trip. So far we have done Crystal Palace, Akershus and Liberty Tree twice when the characters were there. We are planning to try Chef Mickey's this September. It is a lot of fun to interact and get some pictures with the characters in this setting. I hope you enjoy your character dining.

Don't worry. You won't be the only ones. This is pretty common. My wife and I had breakfast at Chef Mickey's on our honeymoon. No kids at the time and it was still a blast.

At Disney everyone is a KID at heart. I have been to Disney 14 times - ONCE with a child. :D I ALWAYS take in at least one character meal each trip. I don't think families with children thinking anything of it. I am a Disney nerd too - I stand in line trip after trip to have my pictures with as many characters as I see. Always like to see how many different costumes I can find Mickey in and have my picture taken. :sohappy:

I've done Cape May and Crystal Palace with my husband, and our entire (all adult) family just did Chef Mickey's. For us, it's a must for every trip. Next time we're considering the Princess Breakfast at Akershus, to see some different characters.

People have to eat at WDW too! When you're going to parks like MK and counter service just won't cut it, why not indulge in a character meal? It's part of the magic of Disney!

I definitely recommend all of the character dining experiences you have listed. I also ALWAYS see couples without children at character dinings and it's not weird at all. You shouldn't feel uncomfortable it's really nice to see people without children enjoying the magic as well by doing character dining experiences. Have fun because Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Crystal Palace are all great choices!

Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace are not a problem...

But I would not DARE venture into Cinderella's Royal Table without a little girl(princess/high maintenance child)...lol... I don't think I'd want to venture in either way... but yeah...
My sister and I did CRT and didn't feel odd at all..if anything the characters really were more attentive. I asked the fairy godmother to find me a prince :king:and she got a kick out of that.

But, we also aren't very pushy either. I've noticed that the pushy people/kids tend to turn off the characters..had the best luck just sitting there, LOL. Every single character in CP snuck up on my very shy sister..

Wow. I never even thought about this being an issue for anyone. Wife and I have done this many times and never once felt the slightest bit weird. Most of the characters are great. We've done CRT and took our pictures with Cinderella and the rest of the princesses, as well--it was awesome.

Our family of seven adults ate at Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Our ages ranged from 19 - 50 and we all had a great time! We all interacted with the characters and took lots of pictures. We are planning to go back this Thanksgiving and will definately go back to Chef Mickey's. Go and enjoy!
