Good to see Narnia won something ( how could it not be nominated for best score though?!!?!?!? UGH!!!!! ) and good for Racheal Weize too. I loved her in the mummy movies.

I'm not watching either, but this page is quite handy for knowing who's got what so far: http://www.oscars.com/
I'm actually liking it this year. Maybe because I've seen some of the movies. But they're also being much more silly this year and showing actual movie clips of the nominees.

So yeah good job so far this year :)

I'm watching because Jon Stewart is hosting, and I think he's hilarious. I haven't seen any of the nominated films (the only movies I saw last year were Chicken Little and Revenge of the Sith). Stewart's monologue was very funny, with mild jabs at V.P. Cheney (big laughs from the crowd) and Hollywood being liberal (silence). The opening bit with past hosts turning down the chance to host again was hysterical, too.

The rest of the show? Meh.

They haven't at all.
They have, slightly. First, not laughing at a couple of Stewart's jokes. Second, Clooney's acceptance speech got into how great Hollywood's history of liberalism is. Prior to that tangent, Clooney's acceptance speech had been one of the funniest ever.

I don't like Clooney so I tuned him out

But at least it hasn't been overt. Whatever...if it happens that's their problem. They have all eyes on them, and they'd be stupid not to take advantage of it I think. But anyway, enough of that. The Oscars are enjoyable to me :)

I can not beleive that Revenge of the sith and Harry potter have gotten absolutely nothing! They were the 2 highest grossing movies last year!

Interruption?

I disagree. The job you have in creating the score is not to create the best piece of music you possibly can, it's about creating something that tells the story through sound in a way that fits the movie. The Gustavo Santavalla did the best job in doing so. Mendelssohn's violin concerto is amazing, but could you see it going along with Brokeback Mountain?

This is by far the best Oscars I can remember. They aren't taking themselves so serious and the parady clips are hillarious. The montages are breathtaking and the set design is beatuiful.

THREE 6 MAFIA BABY! That was fantastic.

No political statements either! No Bush bashing either! Maybe they realize how little we cared about their opinions.

This one show has changed my opinion about the Oscars telecast. The awards are still political and they still need to have some kind of award for action and comedy films, but at least they seem to be more loose now than ever.
