? about Buzz Lightyear's SRS

Please forgive me if this is posted somewhere else, search is not my friend.

Now that TSMM is open and doing well, what are the future plans for BLSRS, if there are any? IMO they are 90% identical. And, as BLSRS is the oldest it should be replaced.

Now, I know they just built a meet & greet next to BLSRS for none other than Buzz himself. Also with Toy Story 1 & 2 being re-released ahead of #3 I don't think it will be leaving any time soon, but my question is still of what will the future bring.

It is not going anywhere at it is an extremely popular attraction. The fact that it is similar to TSMM is no reason to shutter it. The only way it will be closed is if attendance to it drops.

I LOVE this ride! It's the first ride our son was able to ride where he could get his picture taken! He looked so cute at 6 months sitting there between us!:sohappy:

Oh well. But as I have said IMHO, having both open seems tacky to me, but I am probably(sp?) a minority in this thinking. I just think with the new one open it would be ok to replace the old one with something better.

Also, I should point out that I like SRS too, but now I know I can go to DHS and get the same ride on TSMM.

The appropriate comparison is not between Buzz and TSMM, but between Buzz and the other Tomorrowland attractions.

It's pretty cheap looking inside, especially compared to the similar attractions in O-town.

I think Buzz is fine, it just needs some big updateing, give it the guns DL has, along with the targets that light up. The current targets look old and dated.

It`s cheap, cheerful and very popular. It will be plussed but isn`t going anywhere for a while.

No, from the store next to Buzz in DLP. Yes, that version of the ride is an improvement on the WDW original. More akin to the Tokyo version.

If they did a rehab...I would really hope they would have the blasters not attached to the ride vehicle and be connected to a cord for free range targeting.

I find the comparison between BLSRS and TSMM the same as comparing Space MTN to BTMRR just because they are roller coasters.
I know both are shoot 'em games with Toy Story but each is a completely different ride, story, and experience.


I think that updating BLSRS to be similar to the DL version would be a very cool and well deserved plus.

I have to wonder if the OP has actually been on either ride...the only similarities are that they are both have something you point at at target to do something, and that you sit down to ride them.

BLSRS is a classic shoot-em-up type game...you aim at a target and pull a trigger, scoring points if your laser hits the target. The targets are three dimensional - they are 'real', at varying distances, with multiple sides. You, riding in the car, can control the direction the car is pointing by 'spinning' the car with a handle in the front.

TSMM has two 'guns', that you point at video screens showing different types of targets. Your car travels through the ride, spinning out of your control (not fast, just the rider has no control of it), until it reaches a target area. The screen shows different types of targets and projectiles - you shoot darts at balloons (and sometimes you feel 'air' puffs and water), you throw rings at the little green men, and that sort of thing. The cars spin between several differnet screens, each with a different theme.

That said, my family rides BOTH as many times as we can on a trip, usually three or four times during a three day weekend, and don't see that changing anytime soon.

Lets get back to the original post...what could the future hold?. i agree that blsrs is a good ride but it isnt great. imho, tsmm is way better! the sound, the lighting, the overall feel to the ride is great. both rides are themed with the same theme. why would you need two toy story themed rides?????? thats like putting a stitch ride in dhs. a nemo ride in mk. there is no need for it. so i think in the future it will be replaced with something new. a new movie perhaps. lol. i can see us all sitting in spidey carts shooting webs at bad guys. hahahaha

What about with Finding Nemo The Musical and The Seas With Nemo & Friends they are doing well it's the same story in 2 different parks...

The attraction doesn't exsist anymore as Spiderman but as something else now..

Yes i have ridden both of them and they are both rides that I enjoy. But They are more alike than both being shoot em ups. They are both omnimovers, Toy Story based, target shooting, two person cabs, and score keeping to name a few similarities. I liked SRS, but no that TSMM is here that space can be better used for a new attraction. And the only thing that BTMR and SpcMtn have in common is they are both roller coasters. Bad analogy. And, yes they are different rides and storys but the experience is almost identical.

I think Buzz is fine where it is. I think if they wanted to tear something down for somehting more useful or change anything it should be the monsters inc crap next door.

I do think that they should upgrade it to be like DL's Buzz ride. And while TSM and Buzz are similar they both pull in the crowds and are popular. Of course after riding TSM, Buzz is nowhere near as fun, but I think both can exist peacefully in the same world.
