What else? Oh yes, we have IAAPA in O-Town this week. That's when every lifestylerwhore, every blogger, every podcaster pretends they are in the themed entertainment business along with O-Town fanbois with too much time and money etc.

Not coincidentally, D23 has its fall event at WDW next weekend where you'll likely finally hear some facts about Pandora (the project that is over five years old and counting). No, won't be there. So, no autograph/kissing booth, sorry.

well, I know I am the one telling you things like the GotG taking over one and now, possibly, two ToTs ... is crazy and dumb.

Already taking over one, possibly taking over another and possibly an Epcot pavilion also, even though nothing in O-Town has been budgeted yet for anything GotG...

Doesn't sound crazy at all!!

So, as per usual, Tom Amity Clueless puts up a crazy **** rumour and everyone runs with it. This tale was far out of the spoiled manchild's wheelhouse. This one was from all the way in China. A place he likely will never visit because he doesn't have the money of the other O-Town Lifestylers who have made the long journey of late.

The tale he spun was one of two brothers. One was older and lived in Hong Kong. The younger was more flamboyant and resides in Shanghai. It was a tale of supposed castle envy. Size matters my friends. Ask any fanboi when you play a game of "Find the Vinylmation."

The older sibling was jealous of his younger brother's size advantage and set about to blow up his MAGICal castle for a more ostentatious one (think anything Trump here). He too would have a large castle and not lose face, nor fanbois, in China. Sound good?

Except, like most of what you read on the Internet, it ain't true.

Just think about the stupidity of the story. I don't even want to poke holes into this because you should be able to figure them out on your own. Why this was so out there.

How does this happen? Does he simply make things up as he goes (when he isn't stealing stuff from me or others here or elsewhere)? I don't think so. Much like an old blogger who lives for attention and takes 10% facts and makes up the other 90% cloaked in folksy homsepun BS, I believe he (or, more likely a source) found plans for a castle rehab that has been on and off for years. Basically, Sleeping Beauty Castle in HKDL was built as a carbon copy of DL's like much of Main Street and the entrance. Except, unlike Anaheim's, which features a shop and a charming walk-thru, China's first MK has a castle that is really simply a facade. You enter one side in the Hub and come out in Fantasyland. That is it. Don't like it? Blame Pressler and Eisner and Co. (you could also blame Iger since he was the No. 2 at the company then).

For years, plans have existed to plus the exterior of the castle a bit and add something or somethings to it. The space exists as the castle was literally copied from DL. So this could easily be done ... or they could be a bit more creative with the space, although not much.

The point is that is all that will be done. HKDL still has some issues, although it certainly is a beautiful and unique Disney park now. No one has castle envy and the idea of this happening ... well, I know I am the one telling you things like the GotG taking over one and now, possibly, two ToTs ... is crazy and dumb.

I would suggest something to Tommy Boi, though. Make sure you know who your sources are and where their information is coming from and what their agendas are. Or else you will wind up with No. 69: Egg Foo Young on your face.

I am disappointed that people simply take his stuff for truth when so much is crazy like this. But then you see him on Ch-9, the ABC affiliate in O-Town and you realize that real news doesn't exist in this country anymore.

BTW, this episode reminded me of the entire Joe Rohde and Tom Ftizgerald are losing their jobs insanity, which did start here and then jumped to Tommy's site. Vet your damn information and these things wouldn't happen.
Appreciate the clear-up, Spirit. I definitely trust your word more than I do Corless's..es...es?

I, for one, have noticed a significant downturn in news/rumors lately.. Maybe it's just news/rumor off-season but it seems a lot slower recently and even Spirit has been posting a bit less. Guess it's a slow news week.

Oh, I did see the DIS earnings report and listened to Bob Iger and dissected the numbers (not nearly as good as @ParentsOf4 , I am sure) and ... I got nothing. I just am not overly interested in them or the spin.

Oh, and here is how it was spun to the Cast:

"I want to congratulate you on another incredibly successful year. As we announced earlier today, with your help we delivered our sixth consecutive year of record performance – with revenue, net income and earnings per share all reaching historic highs. The year was also defined by two of the most important achievements in the history of our Company: The return of Star Wars, with the creative and box office success of The Force Awakens, and the spectacular opening of Shanghai Disney Resort, which is already exceeding our expectations.

Additionally, this has been a stunning year for our Studio. With a phenomenal slate that included four movies topping $1 billion each in global box office – and a fifth that came awfully close – total box office for our Studio releases in Fiscal 2016 was an astounding $7.5 billion. I’m especially proud of the fact that Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm all contributed to this remarkable achievement. And their momentum continues: Marvel’s Doctor Strange just opened to huge numbers… Disney Animation’s Moana is already generating buzz ahead of its opening later this month… and in December we have Rogue One, our first stand-alone Star Wars story, which is fantastic.

I also want to congratulate the talented, dedicated team at ABC News for their excellent coverage of the 2016 Presidential Election. Once again the ABC News team rose to the challenge and made us proud.
If you’d like to know more about our performance, you can listen to a replay of this afternoon’s earnings call by clicking here. As you can see, we have a lot to be proud of – this has been a year of huge effort and extraordinary achievement.
As 2016 draws to a close, I want to personally thank you for being an important part of our success, and wish you and your family a peaceful and joyous holiday season."

Bob

***P.S. Can't wait to see next year's results if civil unrest comes to this country like I believe is brewing! (And, no, I don't want to see that, but really won't comment further so we don't have the crazies running to Mom!)

This quarter I did the Play by Play as the usual suspects have not been seen much recently, I also am also eagerly awaiting @ParentsOf4 analysis once Disney files it's 10-K for the year.

Spirit, spirit, spirit. The first time I heard it suggested that JR might be in danger of being shown the door was from you when you suggested he would be the scapegoat for Pandora being locked in perpetual developmental hell. Now you can't even keep your stories consistent. I understand your grief this week but please keep your politics and incitement off the magical boards. Thanks.

Frank.

Pot... meet kettle.

It's astounding how much you litter your breaking news/rumors with utter garbage, innuendo and bitter little pop shots. The actual "news" in you posts can be distilled down to two or three sentences without the silly narrative that you're constantly trying to spin. I understand why Alvey or Lutz or Corless or so many other deified basement dwellers trump up their news into pages of BS when they actually have 10 seconds worth of things to say- it's for copy/pageviews and ad revenue.

My question is why do you feel the need to do so? Especially when other "reliable sources" around this site seem to understand that this is a message board- something you clearly have no grasp of. Over this entire thread, the pages and pages of worthless narrative you've created can probably be tightened down into a paragraph or two, and then 1/3 of that will be legitimate new information, 1/3 will be typical going with the way the wind blows speculation, and 1/3 will be utter unsubstantiated nonsense. And with that, you'll crow from the mountaintop about the 1/3 of the correct news you've broken, you'll take credit for confirming 1/3 of the news that everyone knew, and the remaining 1/3 you'll simply ignore and never clarify why your reporting turned out to be a "bad rumor".

And all of it will come with a healthy dose of "things are changing".

Probably because it's a message board, and not isolated to one version of facts and/or opinions? Just a guess....

If you really feel this way, maybe you can go to all the other blogs in the fan community that just steal his news and sell it as their own. Sure you may get some other inaccurate info and be a little behind the loop, but hey you can rest assured it wont have his commentary.

As for me, I'll keep reading his stuff because he brings an interesting perspective.

I think we need to remind everyone that he and all of the other "insiders" don't get payed to write on here. They do it because they want to. They do it because they want to share their knowledge and opinion with everyone else. Just like I'm sure you do too. The difference is we don't have any sources that have deep background on situations. We're indebted to them. Let's not get choosy with the messenger, because it's much better to have the news than not at all.

If I'm being honest, I don't know why most of them put up with some of the stuff they do. I would've just given up a long time ago. So thanks for continuing to be part of the community insiders!

Not the first time this has been said, but bears repeating every so often. Well done.

The news is always appreciated. But the schtick has become grotesque, and the cult of personality even more so.

It's just his shtick. And it's actually rather calculated. He knows exactly who reads his threads, and forms the message in a way he has found to be successful in furthering his agenda.

You have to take the good with the bad. I've learned to ignore the personal shots he takes at people. That's not going to change any time soon. But his info is quite accurate.

So as someone else said, you can find the same news elsewhere without all the color, but you won't get it as fast.

I say it adds.flavor to the discussion that helps propagate thought in the discussion at hand.

After all, what would Fava beans be without a nice chianti?

Just a pile of beans.

Thanks for all you guys do, like Spirit, Martin, Lee (where you at man?), and the rest.

The "schtick" is appreciated by most longtime Disney Parks fans, those of us who experienced the golden age of Disney; and while many of us look into the past through rose colored glasses (Disney was never perfect), the truth is that Disney is losing its magic overall. Their executives couldn't care less about the integrity and values that Disney used to stand for; these Execs only want to line their pockets and make their time at Disney look inflatedly positive.

So yea, people like me love to hear what these insiders have to say and think. It gives us a little hope that at least the whole ship isn't lost at Disney, there are a few ship-hands trying to right it. If you don't appreciate the truth that they share, or the opinions that we almost all agree with (example: paying millions to coke to keep the coke logo out of Star Wars Land is STUPID, and its the wrong direction for theming, that money could be better allocated), then you are free to avoid these insiders threads.

Meanwhile, keep the dream alive guys. I believe there will be a renaissance at the Disney company in the near future.
