So if Hong Kong Disneyland is getting a new castle with a new design, can Tokyo Disney get something new so each castle park has a unique icon?

(Or make MK's even bigger and more elaborate?)

I know neither would ever happen. Just a fanboy wish.
At one point, HKDL's castle looked like this in the design phase of that park.

Hmm, that's the first time I've ever heard the DLP castle described as ugly. But, each to their own.
I'll indulge you. ;)

I have a great fondness for the artistry of DLP. A very accomplished park.

Furthermore, lack of investment has left DLP a time machine. It is still 1992 in DLP. An infinitely more elegant Disney era. With DLP currently undergoing a massive cleanup and restoration campaign for the 25th, it is emerging as the Sleeping Beauty of castle parks, a timecapsule. Whereas the MK has been destroyed piecemeal into some sort of Disney Store / Vegas / snowflake land, a mean and sorry place.

But by default, by basic design of the exterior, Cinderella Castle is the finest ever build. DLP precedes the storybook style that plagues so much of modern Disney design, the notion that Fantasylands, or even castle parks, should resemble cartoon worlds. With flowing lines, pastel colour schemes, lots of plastic blingbling. An architecture of toon characters instead of people. The MK castle, and in general, looks as if it is inhabited by real human beings. DLP's like it is inhabited by a cartoon.

Having been to both I think it's an insult to the Vegas of 2016 to compare it to the current state of Florida's Magic Kingdom. The only thing they have in common is a shocking amount of strollers.
The strollers in Vegas are used to discreetly move large quantities of products necessary to keep the all-night party going on the Strip, so slightly different reason for their existence there...unless that is also the purpose of all the strollers in WDW? (Kidding, about the last part at least.)

But yes, for how much debauchery takes place in Vegas it's crazy how pristine everything is kept. If only WDW could fund better upkeep by figuring out ways of separating cash from their guests too.

Was at Studios tonight so of course I had to take my obligatory pics. This is still a tough pill to swallow (if it comes to fruition). I'm trying to enjoy and document the Tower in all of it's glory. I don't need to remind anyone of how horrible of an idea this really. Hopefully everyone can get out here to see it soon..

That may be the reason for some, but I saw plenty of kids under ten in those strollers all over the place, at all hours of the day.

Wouldn't a larger castle look out of scale next to copies of buildings from DLR's Fantasyland and Main Street? What about sightlines from the rest of the park?

HKDL Fantasyland is more MK than DL.

The scale is actually pretty bad. Certainly they don't need an Enchanted Story Book castle or even Cinderella size, but the profile needs to be at least 75% bigger. The scale is horrible and isn't designed for outside visual intrusions like real mountains.

I actually think SDL's problem is the hub more than the castle. Hong Kong's is definitely the castle.
