WDI's output over the past sixteen years reminds me of Feature Animation going from its second golden age to "Home on the Range" and "Chicken Little".

Agree on 'Home on the Range' rather liked Chicken Little especially it's use of popular music to set the mood, Not as well done as the original Miami Vice's soundtrack but good nonetheless. The stealthy piece of the spaceship was sheer genius!!.

There is no question that currently Disney is the leader in ATTENDANCE, But much of that is driven by nostalgia. How many of TODAYS 'first time' visitors will return again and again as we did after our first visit to WDW/DL, With the cuts/crowding/price increases I suspect the 'conversion' factor is much lower today than it was prior to the Iger era especially the 2011-onward period.

Regarding DL, from my observations of my *very* large, multi generational extended family of friends and blood-relatives, the upcoming generations of young park-goers are every bit as in love with DL as my generation was. They love the recent additions and can't wait for Star Wars Land. DL is still the boundary-crossing, worth-the-money draw it's always been.

The site-that-shall-not-be-named is reporting that Hong Kong Disneyland wants to tear down their castle. The reasoning (the site says)? HKDL (meaning the HK government or park officials, it doesn't say) is jealous of Shanghai's grand (and original) castle and they want a new one.

Ladies and gentlemen, the peeing match has begun.

While I would love for them to get a new castle, they need not be jealous of Shanghai. That castle looks like a big box with spires

I think it began when China agreed to a Shanghai park. That castle is huge and ugly, more a statement than anything classy and beautiful.

Yes, one of the many areas where they seemed to go backwards in terms of Imagineering between DLP and SDL. The DLP castle is an absolute masterpiece that has become iconic in its own right. Even the color of the Shanghai castle is off-putting and I'm surprised such a hideous piece of work was signed off on for the park's icon.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the castle was torn down, but how the hell would they cover that up? The noise and the mess.
I think HKDL is owned by the Walt Disney Company VS Oriental Land Compnay....which means they would never spend that kind of money...
I am actually surprised the Shanghai park did not make their castle look more like the castle from Tangled... That would have been fresh, new and a lot more interesting to look at

but honestly with the mountain backdrop that park has, it should have been a larger more impressive castle from the very beginning VS a knockoff of the Disneyland castle... Seems to me that whole park suffered from some really bad ideas... like a Theme Park with very few attractions because they decided the Chinese really like shopping experiences and M&Gs better than any actual attractions.... and that blew up in their face as soon as it opened.

Hong Kong Disneyland is owned by Hongkong International Theme Parks. The Walt Disney Company owns a minority stake in the company with the rest being owned by the Government of Hong Kong. There is a similar ownership arrangement in Shanghai with the municipal government through Shanghai Shendi Group. The Oriental Land Company has nothing to do with the parks in China.

According to Mr. Corless, Hong Kong is replacing Sleeping Beauty castle with one that's bigger and better as part of a second phase of expansion to that park.

I'm not as Communist governments prefer 'Monumental' architecture as a symbol of the government's wealth and power and the SDL castle certainly fits that profile to a T.

See my response to @Bocabear 's comment same applies as the castle was designed to please the government not the guest or viewer I'm surprised it's not bigger than it is.
