A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

I dunno, man. The Disney-faithful are pretty darned addicted. Even with Nintendo built I can totally see USF still failing to beat DHS in attendance. People just gotta have their Midway Mania and Frozen show. If Universal couldn't beat a half-demolished park with Diagon Alley, can they ever?

... Not that this is even a realistic question. Star wars land IS getting built. Both of them.
The Disney faithful, including myself, are getting pretty ed off at how they are handling their parks outside of Magic Kingdom though. Think about it, last year, DHS was still a full park. It isn't anymore. And I can't even remember the last time I went on Mania. Maybe 4 trips ago? I find it way too overrated!

Disney started the AoA resorts as 'Pop Century Legendary Years' and mothballed them for a DECADE when Wall St objected to their construction post 9/11. And the ESPN bleeding more than 1/2 million subs per month just started recently.

I know the story of AoA. Post 9/11 also had to do with bookings being so low operating hotels were shuttered. They didn't need capacity, there was tons off unused capacity. It was smart of Disney not to build those hotels out at that point. Barring an imminent economic collapse of the level of 9/11 and the 08 crash, it will be built.

Are we still on this conspiracy theory that SWL and the entire DHS redo aren't happening? I thought that was dispelled months ago when construction actually started

The first quarter TWDC reports lower profit/earnings than the previous one, the projects at DHS will get shut down so fast your head will spin. It's how business is done in America these days.

There is no question that WDI want(s) to build SWL in DHS (And that we as fans WANT it built yes even me), The question is with ESPN losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers monthly whether Wall St will ALLOW Disney to build it,

Because let's face it Wall St would rather that 3.5 Billion budget for SWL be directed to Wall St instead of theme park construction.

Look at what happened to Facebook they made some huge capital expenditures to support their future growth and Wall St reacted by dumping their stock en masse, Facebook was a Wall St darling when it simply passed money from it's customers straight through to Wall St, It's now a goat because they dared to build datacenters and other necessary to operations facilities. Once again demonstrating that today's Wall St more closely resembles a casino than promoting capital formation.

On this ESPN issue, I'm anticipating this upcoming qtly earnings to see how Wall St will respond, as meeting expectations in the short-run isn't 'good enough' at the moment, they are looking for future growth. If the stock takes any sort of slide, any construction projects will get strung out. If I were TWDC (and I'm not), I would be expediting construction instead of dragging it out like they've been doing; it could come back to bite them.

[Aside from facebook, see also Under Armour CEO on cnbc defending company performance about a week ago. (Ironically, I'm watching the Chicago Cubs parade in the background and Under Armour just got a big shout out).]

Your posts just get dumber and dumber. This actually hurts my head to read. It's currently being built, what kind of stupid comment is "Will Wall ST 'allow' Disney to build it".

I think you'd be more hard-pressed to find people who hope it actually comes to pass.
Most of us, while we may not want it, are resigned to the fact that they don't care one whit what a small number of vocal forum members want, and will go ahead with plans regardless. So it is just a waste of my time and keyboard to constantly complain about something we cannot change. My hope is that whatever they decide, that they do it right, and don't half- it..

Oh c',mon. They really only shut down 2 attractions - Backlot Tour and LMA. And Backlot Tour should've been shut down years ago anyway, so no loss there.

No question. Management gets what management wants and the concerns of the consumers be darned. I just didn't want the person I quoted to feel bad for hoping it won't happen.

The main problem is when you say consumers. I'm willing to bet that we are equivalent to about .001% of Disney consumers. I know if that percentage of people are complaining about something I'm doing, I wouldn't listen to them either.

I'm using "consumers" in its most general sense. Not specifically us here on the board. One just has to look at the announcement videos of the DCA makeover to see that we (as posters here) are not alone in the anti-GotG overlay. But it extends beyond just ToT and into ANY decision corporate makes. They don't give two rips one way or the other what the general perception is to their changes. They just make them because they feel it will boost their revenues.

The Street wants SWL to happen. Prior to Potter, you'd bet they'd be making a frowny face over it. Potter showed the street that growth and capex still works. And the Street in 2016 likes the diversity that $DIS has - and they will hope that it will help them make up for the 'new normal' for less ESPN profits.

It's also a matter of ego for the executive suite. Things like maintaining a resonating theme over an entire park or keeping an iconic lobby design over at an original resort, not so much (or at all).

Doesn't mean they won't take their sweet time on it. Gotta split that precious capex up between quarters...
