A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

Lots of information that I can't really share right now beyond broad strokes,*** so expect more DVC in familiar and unexpected locations at WDW, expect the new DCL ships to have a few substantial differences from the four existing, expect the SWE to open ... a few years after Anaheim's version, expect more expansion down the road at UNI in both parks using very familiar IP, expect some additional/different OLC announcements in the new year, expect the HKDL expansion plan to likely change before it even starts work in 2018 as SAR officials still aren't thrilled with all of it or the cost, expect that something will come to the MK soon in a familiar location and expect the plans for EPCOT to continue to change and morph, but not at all hold true to the original ideals of EPCOT no matter what Chappie says (he lies!)
So to resume..

  1. DVC will be finally added to other resorts (Grand Floridian? Poly?) and "moderates"
  2. Few substantial differences? So only SIZE? (because the new ships seem to be 20-25% bigger than the Dream class)
  3. So as everyone predicted.. TDO will "stretch" the building to save costs on SWE and will be way later than Anaheim's (despite the huge DHS need for attractions)?
  4. Expansion of familiar IP? So they did the go ahead for Fantastic beats or Ministry of Magic? or are we talking about more Fast & Furious/Fallon?
  5. MK.. finally the rumors of Stitch and autopia section? Or something different?
  6. As for chappie, we expected so. Marny has kept us well fed.. but still a bit hush hush ;)

The DCL experience is pretty scripted with lots of fans that will freak out at even the smallest changes, but they do need to rethink a few things:
  • The Dining experience on our last 7-day was a source of complaints from nearly everyone who we interacted with. I could see them tackling this in at least some way. From service methods, food quality and even the rotational dining.
  • More activities for older teens / young adults
  • More separation between adult and family areas
  • More up-charge items/venues like Venelope's Sweet Shop (not that I want this, but seems obvious)
  • More room classes for different family sizes.
I dont know about you.. but I had the best experience in food at the Disney Wonder... the food at Royal Caribbean's main dinning(Oasis) was PATHETIC compared to Disney.
Plus its BORING (always in the same big dinning area). I loved rotational.
And the separations.. Im pretty sure the problem are the families, not the ship designs imho.
I've seen many times where all the places say "no kids". Yet families want to push their "precious" to control them while they take their alcoholic drinks

So we're back to "a few years" for SWE after Anaheim? Let's not. It's regularly been stated mid 2019. So unless it opens this year in Anaheim ...
I have stated a bunch of times there is no way SWE opens anytime before 2020. the earliest it will open is mid 2020. Disney wants Disneyland to have head start on SW. They already have a huge head start on DHS.

Has the final size been confirmed? I say because the comparison images show them at least 10-15% larger.. of the Dream Class..

I would love to see more info of the new ships. I know that @WDW1974 already hinted the new names of these ships a a few months ago.
Yeah they released some limited details when they were announced.

I must have missed where he hinted at those. Any chance you could point me in the right direction.

There is a picture somewhere, but I think at best they are 1 deck taller and a few feet longer. I can't imagine they will add more than 10% additional passenger capacity. Any hopes that the new ships would be smaller than Dream Class but bigger than Magic/Wonder have definitely been dashed.

The original announcement stated they would have the same number of staterooms and the same passenger capacity. Also the announcement said they would have a gross tonnage of 135,000 compared to the dream class at 130.000.

Thanks...they still look 1 deck taller. But that picture is deceiving. I knew they weren't going for dramatically bigger than Dream class, but couldn't remember all of the specifics.

Disney wants Disneyland to have head start on SW. They already have a huge head start on DHS

Just by looking at the construction thus far, it's seem certain DL will finish their SWL ahead of DHS. But, how do you know that Disney wants DL to have a multi-year head start over DHS?

Yes in a PR at some point it was a ballpark figure. And it was around the percentage I posted.
