Welcome back @WDW1974 and Happy New Year!

Being the huge fan of the project that I am, I can't help but ask about Nintendo. What are your thoughts on the released art and what was seen in that video they did? Any info that you can share too? I also look forward to any other info we'll get in this big new year for Orlando parks fans with both big players seemingly bringing their A game. Next year looks pretty dull though *sigh*

Here's two promotional images from the Disneyland website for the homecoming engagement of the MSEP. As far as I know these images are brand-new and haven't been used before. The rest of the images on the site are of Magic Kingdom's run of the parade

You could have at least given me credit for copying and pasting my post from the Disneyland forum verbatim... ;)

I love Martin, but there is no way in hell that SW would ever be ready in FL within two years. Just no.

I'm sticking with that my sources originally told me... 2020. They haven't changed their tune. I guess it could be possible to stretch and hit the end of the year holidays for 2019; but, with the way things work in the swamps - I just don't see it happening.

We will see the real difference in timelines soon as work scales down on the berm in Anaheim and turns its focus on the guts of SWL. It's the pace of construction that's the difference. Compare pictures of Anaheim's construction site to anything being built at WDW and notice the difference - the number of people working and the hours they are putting in.

The best barometer for WDW's SW timeline is paying close attention to TSL. It will get a full year in the spotlight before the other project steals its thunder.

Oh, and welcome back Spirit.

Okay, so perhaps the actual goal dates are what Martin said, and Spirit is simply saying that all signs point to them missing those goals.

I wouldn't say Spirit is saying "all signs". He says his 2020 or 2021 date is what he's been hearing from his sources and he's inferring the rest. The inference being how slowly Orlando has built stuff in the past.

But there are other signs, notably Martin's sources which give an early date and the photos of the construction sites moving merrily along. Could the DHS suddenly slow down... sure. But, I think you'll have LucasFilm kicking up a fuss if it slows down. And look how WDW scrambled to stuff as much SW into DHS ahead of their announced schedule and then kept adding even more SW stuff. I think there's an internal push not to lag and to get DHS 'fixed.'

Either a rebuild like Hulk or something new entirely. Last I read on OU is that if it was new it would probably still be a coaster. My personal hope though is a Forbidden Forest dark ride.

Orlando informer has hinted that it's on the chopping block and won't likely survive 2017.

I hope it stays coaster based.....dragon challenge is too rough a ride by today's standards and they don't dual anymore because legal is a bunch of babys....so that gimmick is gone. So I hope for a coaster ride of sorts through maybe with dark elements think mine train but less useless.

Lucas film is disney....they have no power here and will do exactly as they are told....or get fired. (That's how disney operates)

The ToT still is safe. It was announced at a D23 event that GotG is not coming to DHS's ToT.

Of course, things change and execs change. But you can be sure they're not taking ToT offline for an overlay, if that would ever happen, until the two new Lands are built. So, it's safe for at least 3 years... unless some exec goes mental.

This....safe ONLY because of parks awful capacity.....nothing more....Bob can say whatever he wants on stage he will do what is needed to sell more plushies.

If it's safe because of the park's awful capacity, then why will they eventually be shutting down GMR for the Mickey attraction? One doesn't match up with the other. I think that was just an excuse to save the Tower. If they really wanted to overhaul it they would shut it down and do it.

I believe that Mickey is part of the reason GOTG isn't coming to DHS at this time. The park can (apparently, and I disagree because it absolutely cannot handle all of these closures without immediate replacements anyway) handle GMR down, OR it can handle Tower going down, but not both, and Mickey has been deemed the more important project, so Mickey gets to claim his victim while GOTG gets canned, pushed back, or sent to Epcot to destroy Disney history in a different way.

Ops (very very very understandably) balked at the idea of a DHS that would consist of Star Tours, Rock 'N' Rollercoaster, Muppetvision, and the shows for at least a year. The unfortunate side effect is that because the shows didn't get updated/replaced when they were supposed to, nobody wants to take them down now for fear of turning DHS from a half day park into a quarter day park.

Are we sure the Mickey to GMR thing is still happening? These plans seem to change so frequently.

@WDW1974 Onto another subject and I hope I don't start something, but I'm wondering the general feeling of those involved in adding the PEOTUS to Hall of Presidents. Any hints of Iger's feelings of putting this guy in his most popular park?

Iger made a statement on this way back in November, they already basically had his bust done then as well.
