Sorry guys, wishful thinking on some of your parts I know. He is not talking about GoTG (which in the grand scheme of Rhode projects is about the only thing that has moved forward rapidly and smoothly). GoTG tower won't even qualify as "years" from inception to reopening.

RoL on the other hand
I had a feeling he was talking about RoL.

Sometimes I wonder what happened with Tarzan and The Little Mermaid. They both got mixed reviews, and they both were on Broadway for little over a year.
However, the Dutch production of the Little Mermaid seems to be really popular (they made some song and staging changes), and Disney is using their version for all touring purposes now.
For the three years I've been living in Germany, Tarzan seems to have been perpetually touring the country. When I arrived in 2013, Cologne was full of ads for the run in somewhere like Stuttgart or Hamburg and at the moment it's full of even more ads for the Oberhausen run. The again, there has been a Bodyguard musical running for what seems like forever in a very large venue in Cologne...

Germany's musical theatre tastes are odd, to say the least. Tarzan is a big hit there, but their big cultural institution is Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express, which has been running for decades in a purpose-built venue in Bochum. Starlight Express is the biggest steaming pile of garbage ever shoved onto a stage, and the Germans love it. Bless their hearts, as my Southern relatives would say.

Off topic but I'm visiting SeaWorld for the first time today and, wow, I'm having an absolute blast! Can't believe I've lived down here for almost two years and neglected this place. It's a real gem!

I posted in the SW forum about my recent two weekends there. They honestly did a fantastic job with their Christmas offerings. And it all comes with regular admission!

For those who don't know, Starlight Express is a musical about a train. Not what happens ON a train, but the train itself, as represented by a group of roller skaters. According to Wikipedia, the show started out as an adaption of Thomas the Tank Engine, but ALW couldn't get the rights so he made up his own story about trains coming to life. I remember trying to listening to the cast recording once and all I heard was loud noises. It's the kind of thing that could have only been made in the 80s.

I don't always get the really obscure Family Guy jokes, but they nailed it in this case:

I remember watching that episode when it aired and I completely lost it. God bless Seth MacFarlane.

Mind you, Seth is a big broadway fan and nerd. He once put the entire Shipoopi number from The Music Man into an Family Guy episode which set off his fans on an internet rage.

So, if Seth is totally mocking the idea and content of a musical... you know it's bad.

BTW, more musical numbers from The Music Man should be on the Main Street Loop. Disney gods, make it happen.

Back from Rouge One.

Thoughts:
Back from the theater, and here's just a few points:

1. The Director's Cut will be available in Kafrene, and Kafrene Free!.....Ba-dum-tiss!

2. Was that Willem DaFoe voicing a trooper when the rebels broke Jyn free in the beginning of the film?

3. The ending! Good lord! I kept thinking of a poster here who insisted that the reshoots were to make things "toddler friendly" lol. Yeah, suuuuure. Here's a sample conversation of a child and parent watching the film:

Parent: So who's your favorite character?
Child: I like the blind Force user.

(BLAM)

Parent: Uhh well, who's your new favorite?
Child: I sure do like the shuttle pilot!

(KERSPLODE)

Parent: Geez...so um, how about now?
Child: I love the droid...

(BZZZZTHUD)

Parent: Crap. Pick someone else.
Child: The girl hero is awesome!

(VVVVLORP)

Parent: Let's get the heck out of here.
Child: Yeah...ok.

Not a kiddie movie. Sorry.

I was having a tiny bit of anxiety at the end because the nameless rebels
WOULDN'T JUST PASS THE DATA CARD THROUGH THE DOOR. VADER IS KILLING EVERYONE. PASS THE CARD THROUGH THE DOOR.

I kind of expected everyone to die but watching it all happen still had me sitting with my mouth open. Then Vader just came in wrecked all those Rebels's day. The pure terror... I loved it!!! :D
