A Terror-rific Spirited 13th (ToT fans have lots to fear)...

I have heard that Yoshi's and DK are all practical, and supposedly, Yoshi's is an acid trip on steroids. The DK mine coaster has been in the works for years. It is the reason the JP amber mine project disappeared. Mario Kart is going to be a mostly practical mega E. I have conflicting info on if it will use augmented reality tech. I'm leaning towards yes. And Peach's Castle will be the land's "weenie". Yoshi's was not originally supposed to come to Orlando, but I believe that for several reason it will be included, which is bad news for E.T.

Disclaimer: This is all rumor so...we will see.
Oh no! I love ET! Steven Spielberg is going to be pis*ed!

Star Wars will ensure crowds keep coming to Disney....but does Uni targeting families make Animal Kingdom and Epcot get bumped further down the list?

If Disney don't invest significantly (beyond what's already announced) in all 4 parks I think much of the 'Star Wars boost' will come from people shuffling around their Disney days, then heading off to see Uni.

Exciting times either way,

Oh yeah. Nintendo is definitely going all out to build a better and different image for themselves. The Switch, Universal, Mobile, and talk of movies, etc. The NES Classic situation though is just stupid. How do you send out so little stock? :banghead:

Luckily I'm not one of the people that desperately wants it.
It's like the amiibo shortages. It seems like a stupid decision at first, but it might be smart...except for the fact that the NES Classic is their only holiday product, so it's just a really dumb decision.

Since when is any Yoshi game not an acid trip on steroids?

Steven Spielberg will be rolling in money from this. I think he still owns a portion of the park.
True, but he really wants the ET ride to stay. E.T. in Florida is the only one left.
He even got mad when they destroyed the boat from Jaws without his knowledge. It was at Uni-Hollywood and he said he used to go out to the boat and think. How cool is that?
However, the boat still got destroyed.

Spielberg has enough money, maybe he will just move it to his back yard.:p

The 3 Es are rumored to be Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Mine, and Yoshi's Island. The 2 Cs are rumored to be Mushroom Kingdom related flats.

Theme Park Wars 2020: The 10th Anniversary Edition is gonna be good.

The Star Wars Experienc VS Mushroom Kingdom

BTW, I think Pandora is going to jaw dropping, I love a lot of what they did at Disney Springs (The Boathouse, Morimoto's, and Homecoming all get two thumbs up from me.), and I saw Moana today and I absolutely loved it.
@Disneyhead'71 you might want to ease up a bit on your Disney praise...a post like the one above doesn't exactly support the narrative that you're just a UNI shill. The next thing you know you'll be trying to tell us that you like both Phish AND the Dead :joyfull:

Not to mention E.T. is in horrible shape from my trip last week. It's kind of sad.
I went it at the end of September, I was underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong the queue is great with the large trees, and the scenes on Earth are a lot of fun, but once we get to the ET planet its a quick downhill slope for me. Would be sad to see it go, but I'm sure the replacement would be just as fun. Although it wouldn't be as magical, as I don't think you can top ET's sense of wonder.

I thought it looked okay in September, but it had been a while since I had seen it. ET still has never said my name.:(
There was a huge patch of peeled paint at the back of the Green Planet room with all the little E.T.'s. The rest also seemed very dated with AA quality. Very sad indeed.
So Mario is coming to ToT?
Lol. It seems this thread has taken the place of Spirit's last thread as the new catch all.

Being in Universal is bad news for E.T. Don't get me wrong, I love Universal. but for better or worse Universal puts little to no value in old attractions. E.T. is the last original attraction left. It's on the chopping block. Universal is focused on NEW, and nothing is sacred. The signature King Kong ride can be replaced with an, admittedly cool, ride based on the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies. The signature Jaws ride/land can be replaced with a second Potter land.

It's just the way Universal opperates. E.T., Men in Black, Shrek, and Terminator should all be nervous. But I'm sure whatever replaces these will be amazing (especially Nintendo! even if I do still wish Disney was the one building a Nintendo land)

Only in USF it seems. Opening day stuff at IoA is mostly safe except maybe what remains of Lost Continent. This is what happens when there's little true expansion space. At least Kong came back.

Btw, this is exactly what Disney seems to be doing/have done with Hollywood Studios' and Epcot's opening day rides and other classics if all rumors are true* except that Disney does have the space to truly expand.

*With a few exceptions like SSE which I haven't read a single thing about it leaving.

Yeah, but would you say Universal "values" many of the rides and areas? Doctor Doom and Storm feel like after thoughts tucked in the sides. Seuss has looked faded and old everytime I've been there. What's left of Lost Continent is clearly only open because it hasn't been expanded into. Jurassic Park clearly isn't cared about or else they wouldn't have plopped King Kong in it (Skull Island and Jurassic Park are not the same place, they just aren't). Lets not forget all the othat exciting attractions in Jurassic Park that have all bbroken down except for the playground and kid glider thing. Toon Lagoon is more or less well maintained, but that's just because it has two hit rides. But they both have cheap looking dated effects that desperately need an update (or at least a new coat of paint).

And the whole theme of Islands of Adventure was that each land is meant to be, well, an island. Suess LANDING, Toon LAGOON, Marvel Super hero ISLAND, etc. Harry Potter makes absolutely zero effort to fit the island theme with its name or anything. It's simply "the Wizarding World."

I probably sound more anti-Uni than I mean to. I love Universal. But they build it and forget it unless it becomes huge. And when popularity drips, they let it gather dust and do bare minimum maintenance until they can replace it. It results in a lot of cool new rides with high tech stuff. A lot of the time it's just fancy ways to watch a 3d movie, but they are reeeeealy fancy ways to watch em lol.

Disney places more value on classics and build those up. More practical effects are used as those are more timeless. Sure Jungle Cruise looks dated, but they have held up more or less for decades. Disney markets and gives attention to classic attractions. Sure some things get replaced, but nothing signiture like Haunted Mansion or Splash Mountain. BUT that means that Disney is slower to build new attractions because "new" isn't the focus, classic is.

It's different models and both have merits. Personally I prefer Disney's strategy, but Universal has some individual rides that I prefer over nearly everything at Disney.

Sorry, for rambling so much lol

I don't get it, I thought we were only talking about rides actually getting replaced?
