It's like Hong Kong's recreating this moment from Shrek

The frozen ride is a clone of Frozen Ever After.... hopefully, the Disneyland version is an E-Ticket and not Frozen Ever After

That's just advanced laziness. Why take advantage of new opportunities in a new build to make a stronger ride that doesn't deflate in excitement midway through when you can just build a full on copy?

Oh - I incorrectly assumed this was the LPS e-ticket destined for TDL/DL...

Let me redact a bit of excitement. I will return some of it if they aren't complete dumb-dumbs and fix some of the capacity and plus the attraction with it being a new build and all.
Nah, it's still a really dumb move.

Hopefully the BoD and HK SAR demand the LPS ride since none of this has been approved yet.

Yup and I can be sure the results will be better than WDW as the building will be built purposefully for the ride!

I wouldn't be so sure; everything was designed with that specific building in mind and track layout. I'd be surprised if there's any significant changes, going by what we know with it sharing the same show scene sequence (right down to the backwards travel)

Wow!!!

I don't know what to say about HKDL as I've only received a few notes and I have no time with Turkey Day travel coming up to source this.

But I do know where the money came from suddenly. Recall that frozen second gate? Well, now we can officially call it Frozen. As don't expect it to happen for a decade or more. All of those funds were transferred to this.
I think at least a part of the money was approved over 2 months ago.

Back in September on another site mentioned that HKDL's website didn't have Autopia as one of its attractions and the site mentioned it wasn't on the park map either. The sites that had this information was WDWinfo, Screamscape, and Laughing Place. The only thing is none of the sites mentioned at the time that Autopia was going to be turned into a marvel attraction.

I checked out the HKDL website to make sure that was the case and Autopia wasn't even listed like the 3 sites mentioned. I know that their Autopia was originally listed as a refurbishment, but it changed by the time I went to their website in September.

What caught my eye at the time was I didn't think a HKDL attraction would close for good without it being replaced. The only Disney theme park that did worse than HKDL in attendance was Walt Disney Studios Park and that itself made me think Disney can't afford giving Autopia the same treatment as they did at WDW for the Odyssey building.

Hong Kong seems to be in the same boat as us WDW Frozen fans. Just add a sleigh ride.

Well, it's no tall tale. In fact, it was just announced.

Just reread your post... who sounds like the fool now?

anyone noticed that the castle basic body seems to be the same as anaheim's?
I think they're just plopping a bigger castle on top.

Wow...Disney has pretty much taken over Variety's website today. That is a pretty massive PR push.

True. But this is also a very dead period with Thanksgiving in a few days and lots of folks traveling ... or even going to the movies as I just did (Fantastic Beasts was very, very good. But not great!)

But the timing of the release was likely dictated by the HK SAR government, not Disney.

Rivers of Light??!?

How about Rivers of Might (Not Open Before Pandora)?
How can this project be so screwed up?

The lake area is very calm, so how can GPS be unable to control the boats? If open water drill rigs can be kept stationary, how can it be so hard to control a little barge?

The Pandora building has a majority of the exterior that still needs rock work .

I like the facts, I enjoy the snark. I largely enjoy reading you. But sometimes the overbearing arrogance (you compared yourself to Jesus moments before the news broke) and bullying (that's what it is - it's not shots, it's bullying) are going to bite you.

The only correct response is to be humbled and apologize.

Brian, I am a very humble Spirit ... sometimes. And I apologize when I feel it is deserved. If you think I'm getting into an online urinating match with Amity Boi, you haven't paid attention to anything I have ever said. ... And I was not comparing myself to Jesus (and the Jesus I was talking about is my ex-lawn man!), so read closer. And bullying?!?! Hah. You obviously didn't see the man's public meltdown against his ex-fiancee and her friends last year. Look, I am who I am. I make no apologies for that.

I took a shot at Tom and while it wasn't accurate in hindsight, I could take many that are. ... But just ask yourself when he has ever reported a damn thing (right or wrong) about the Asian parks. He is based in O-Town and his resort is WDW. He was fed the information he was for multiple purposes.

I'm disappointed people are supporting you on this one (even passively with likes). You are right that there is a collective who are unwilling to question your every move.

You are kidding, right? You have an issue with people 'liking' posts? Why should people be questioning any of my moves (my information and opinions, sure ... but my "moves"?) I missed this and I readily admit that. But this isn't my job and I have drastically cut back my time even looking at Disney/UNI info online. My life is more important. My family is more important. And I don't wish that to sound defensive because I'd much rather be offensive (and, yes, in multiple ways).

I
That's my two cents. I'm sure it won't be popular. Of course we are still friends, and will eagerly read along, but I don't like bullying. It's a schtick I think you'd be a way bigger person to drop.

Now back to the HKDL news which I've been eagerly wanting to discuss with you for like three years!! :D

And I hate bullying, so please don't accuse me of it (it is a very hot button topic for me and can get me quite nasty, quite fast). It's why I didn't vote for the orange-hued man (well, many reasons, but that was certainly a big one). Tommy isn't a child. He is a 30-something Disney blogging Lifestyler. I don't know him nor do I wish to, but I am sure he has never shed a tear over anything I posted.

I'd love to discuss HKDL, but I don't have any added information on this now and am off for the holiday very soon. But feel free to PM or the like and I will drop back at some point if something of great import comes to light. I love the park. I have since my first visit in 2008 when I was expecting this horrible little place and instead found a bit of Disney island paradise!

Very speculative, but I don't think this Frozen attraction pushed back Tokyo. Everything at Tokyo is massively delayed, not just Frozen. I largely think some elements of the second gate were pulled and are being pushed into HKDL.

No, it didn't. OLC's entire expansion plans were delayed. But after announcing the Scandinavian port for TDS, the next set of plans announced didn't say a word about the area because it was pushed back. Maybe it was killed entirely. I don't think so, as OLC reiterated it was happening recently.

Personally? They are not ready for a second gate. It seemed briefly like the momentum was in their favour, but they need a primary park that is making money before they rush head long into a new one.

I agree, but Disney always pushes second and third gates when other parks need new things. I also believe that if DIS doesn't build a second park within a certain timeframe, they may lose rights to that chunk of land. I would have to look back at docs I don't have handy.

Fantasyland desperately, desperately needed this.

The castle I think has that weird mish mash SDL thing going on, which I largely thought was ok. But SDL is undeniably boxy from certain angles. This streamlines it and shouldn't suffer the same problem. I like it in theory.

I don't. It looks godawful. Worse than SDL's which wasn't simply an add-on. I think this was likely a demand by the SAR that was simply non-negotiable.

I'm surprised TSMM isn't a part of this. Especially with buzz going away, the expansion plot left over, etc. Seems like it could have been a nice 2019 or 2022 project based on their proposed timelines. I guess it can always be added in later, but odd.

Not me. I am not even surprised they are killing Buzz there. No one seems to like it. I have been on busy days and it is always almost a walk-on. Besides, that means in 5-6 years, SDL can claim they have a Chinese exclusive!

The promise of the unique Marvel attraction... sounds like DL/SDL will go Captain America, Epcot will get a GoTG version, I wonder what HK will do.

I don't know. But the idea of Marvel attractions in MKs makes me sick.

Agreed on Fantastic Beasts, it was good but not great. I was in the Harry Potter world again but meeting new characters. I think what was missing was something youthful because in Harry Potter you saw a kid grow up and watched his story which in my opinion was part of the charm. This was a bit different but I think it set up well for the second film to be better.

Civility, critical appraisal, occasional calling of crap - but no one deserves bullying.

It's a theme park community, no need for being dour!

Never before have I been happier for insiders whom are far, far more accurate than Tom to be so wrong. HKDL remains my little park that thinks it can.
He deserves to be called out for his B.S., that's what I've done and if that's bullying I guess I'm Biff Tannen. His site has an incredibly large following and it's constantly spewing misinformation. It's irresponsible.

this is just throwing as much current IP in as they can with no real thought to any theme or master plan.

"Our intellectual property works great in theme parks." - Bob Iger [actual quote from recent interview.]

See - it 'works great' because Iger says so. Jeez Spirit why can't you toe the line?

Drill Rigs tend to use Inertial Navigation instead of GPS due to the inherent repeatability of Inertial systems, GPS unless you have access to the military version lacks repeatability i.e. the ability to return to the SAME position you were at a week ago. Inertial systems just need an accurate 'fix' initialize the system once that is done they can take you back to the same spot within tenths of a mm. Civillian GPS will be repeatable within 50' or so not accurate enough to choreograph a show like RoL, Accuracy is improved by WAAS and EGNOS but repeatability is still an issue.

Drill Rigs also use proprietary positioning systems which apply 'corrections' to an initial GPS derived position.

Anyone who knows Spirit personally knows he's not a bully.
I don't know him personally but just from his posts on here he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. He can be snarky but that's like seasoning on food to use a weird analogy. Optional, probably doesn't add much in the grand scheme of things but some people like it and it gives a different taste to the overall thing.

Hey, I just saw FB also. The 3:45p IMAX 3D at Pointe Orlando. I enjoyed it. I'd put it at an A-/B+.
