A Spirited Valentine ...

These are thoughts and discussions that you can be sure have been held at Disney. I would not at all be surprised if this is even something Iger was consulted on (I am going to ask some people who might know!)

I do know that assuming he stays in office you are going to have some very ugly moments at that attraction (worse than the last two Presidents combined). I'm honestly not sure if I will even go into that show for my own reasons. But in O-Town ... you could have daily fistfights breaking out in there the way our nation is divided.

Agreed...it looks amazing. Whether that will translate into increased ticket and merch sales have yet to be seen.

I recall that Diagon Alley was criticized for being a huge land of pretty things with only 2 attractions, I fear Pandora will have even less things "to do", no mention of special food or merchandise with it to increase the bottom line.

Food and merchandise most definitely are part of the experience. I'd also add that the land is an attraction in its own right ... yes, much like Diagon! :)

Without getting political, I'll simply say that a lot of people in that world assume others' political leanings ... and they really shouldn't. Much like the rest of the country, it's very close to a 50-50 split in terms of what direction bloggers/podcasters/Lifestylers lean. And many of them like to keep their views a closely guarded secret while others are loud and proud.

I largely agree with what you are feeling. I have Universal fatigue. Too much of the same thing. I love Potter, but ultimately UNI isn't 'The Harry Potter Park' despite being referred to that way in Disney P&R research. Transformers was simply a louder, longer, yet less satisfying, Spidey. Kong is more of the same. Sorry, UNI fanbois, but the parks are way too heavy on screens. If you have motion sickness there literally is almost nothing to do at the two parks. And instead of improving where they are weak, we just get more of the same and ... well, I don't know anyone -- even UNI foamers -- who are raving about Jimmy Fallon and Fast and Furious. Nintendo looks really, really great. But it is years away and Disney will have new and compelling product open by the time it debuts.

I think this is much like 1999 when IOA opened and the resort expansion happened, they have all this momentum and they're blowing it.

Volcano Bay ... I don't even know what to say beyond Jason Surrell (you recall that psycho who was arguing with fanbois on this site while his wife was in labor with their first child) doing media for it. I saw a major story yesterday, but didn't want him getting attention from me by placing it here. It's a water park. Probably a nice one. Already have three in O-Town. No one was clamoring for yet another.

I'm sure it will be nice... VB... But looking at all the photos from up above.. there is literally no berm... and not enough room to plant a forest thick enough to hide the roads on either side... How is this going to look from inside?

Exactly on point. For example, my wife gets sick on rides like mission space and star tours. People ask why we don't go to Universal, but it would be a waste of money for us since she wouldn't be able to ride anything without feeling sick for the rest of the day. They're way too screen reliant over there anymore. At least Disney still somewhat builds sets.

This is so true. We went through a phase where we were loving Universal, staying onsite for at least half of a week's trip. Now we are just over it. They need to round out their ride offerings. There needs to be something there that isn't screens, whether it's for younger kids or older people or people who just can't take the screens (like myself) I'm not saying that they have to imitate Disney. They can do it in their own way. Their nighttime entertainment is also a huge gap

I mean realistically Diagon only has one true ride... the other is a mode of transport between two parks... At least Pandora will have two fully fleshed out rides.

I could probably sit in that land all day and just stare up....
The only other possible ride they could've had in Diagon Alley realistically and staying true to the series would've been a Knight Bus simulator on the London side. That's a ride that really couldn't be done physically.

Very true about Fallon and F&F though I'm one of the people that really does enjoy Kong. Transformers too.

On food You mean Disney will be selling MRE's at the marines mess hall. Yup that will be an food experience all right they had better come with the little bottles of Tabasco sauce.

The 'pork patty with gravy' will choke a goat its that disgusting

Note anyone who has been in the military knows EXACTLY what I mean here

I know of at least two properties that I would consider deluxe, although those labels won't be used. One is the hotel at the entrance to EPCOT. The other is the Star Wars resort, although that one is much further out timewise.
Hm guess I shouldn't have asked. I know you're joking but a Star Wars resort would print money so they should just do it.

That got me thinking...

How awkward would it be for the President to leave the office early in a fury of controversy, only to be replaced by the VP, which would force Disney to shut down the show, update it with an AA of the VP, now POTUS, while the current President who left the office in disgrace would still be acknowledged on the stage during the roll call...

Really, what an even bigger mess that attraction could become.

This is the company that ran the CoP for ages without updates... and runs UoE with a decades old TV show... needing to be 'current and accurate'... not exactly a crisis for them I think :)

I don't know if you were trying to reference it, but Watergate occured while the attraction was open and Nixon was still in the roll call.

The real selling point of Volcano Bay is convenience. If you're staying at one of UNI's hotels and have already bought a park2park ticket, you're not likely to visit Typhoon Lagoon, Aquatica or Blizzard Beach, no matter how much better the other ones are. It's an additional burden of travel and expense most would not be willing to take. It's all part of the new UNI Bubble, which I'm not sure is something they can completely pull off.

Having driven past it I really am curious how they're going to pull off the "theme park" part of this. There is absolutely no way to hide I-4 and no room for a berm. I agree with others that besides the volcano, it really looks like an off the shelf park. I was hoping they would at least use custom colored slides to try and incorporate them into the rock work - instead they went with neon colors.

Disney will just leave it closed till a Hollyweird approved president is installed in office
