Congress has authorized the Department of State to rejoin the Bureau International des Expositions. If the President approves, this means the United States can once again host official World Expos (aka World's Fairs).

Not sure which city would bite for such an expensive project in this day and age. Seems like a World's Fair vibe has come and gone. We've had Fairs in St. Louis, New York, Chicago, San Antonio, Spokane, Knoxville, New Orleans. Who's next, or do we get a repeat customer? Minnesota seems to be more of a trial balloon.

I'd imagine a Worlds Fair in Florida or California but could be a repeat, if it happens.
The Minnesota bid is a real bid and one of only three for Expo 2022/2023. If any of those other cities are interested in hosting a fair they have 16 days to submit for 2025 and compete against Paris and Osaka.

Oh, didn't even realize bids were in place LOL. Thank you. Interesting. (I had the link open but hadn't read it yet, guess I should have waited to comment ...)

Is this a new 'magical moment' experience in Frontierland? I was walking by lasst evening and out of nowhere all these characters/dancers just appeared and started a hoedown flash mob. It was great fun and. If it was a test, I hope it continues.

With the worst class of 'stockrenters' being the HFT guys who add absolutely NOTHING to the market, But by virtue of being a few hundred feet closer to a telecom hotel they can take advantages of the trades before the rest of the market sees them, Once again proving the need for commonsense regulation in this case that all trades have a fixed 'latency' so just because you are closer to the issuing institution it does not give an undue advantage.

Besides THOSE stockrenters, there are those that if they had a choice of the stock A) hitting $145 to $150 in 18 months, then headed back down to the $40 to $60 range and staying there for 20 years or B) having it naturally consolidate, then do a steady march higher and be at $200 in 10 years, they would chose A. Nobody on the BOD should be among them.... I think the long term stockholder is to $DIS as the family who keeps their vacation budget under $15K....

That said, I think the ESPN layoffs is a step further that they'll do anything (even degrade an offering that might not even result in an increase in The Margin) to try to make The Street happy.

Lands based on the properties goes against what the concept of DL has been about for 62 years.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a bit tired of entire lands being themed off of one movie in the first place. Carsland is beautiful, but I do miss the concept of representing multiple movies in a land with a theme that ties the whole land together.

You mean the 2 lands in the whole world, one of which isn't even open to the public for a few weeks??

And the 2 more that have already been announced. Well, 3 counting the duplicate SWL in California...4 if you count the assumed addition of a Marvel land coming to DCA eventually.

It's pretty clear that TWDC has decided that this is the route that park expansions are going to take for the foreseeable future. I'm not a fan.

And no, it's not that I'm not a fan of the properties that have been selected. I actually love SW and Marvel. But I also like New Orleans Square, Adventureland, Frontierland, etc. It would be nice to see a mix of the two concepts, rather than just lands based on a single IP.

Couldn't agree more. Anything that gets knocked down is replaced with an IP. The only exception being an underwhelming New fantasy land.

I too love star wars and look forward to the expansion but I feel for those in Disneyland who are sort of losing their parks identity little by little.

Sorry, but SWL is NOT based on ONE movie. It is based on what will be at least 10 movies, multiple TV series, and a whole bunch of books. Marvel land, if it ever gets built, will also not be based on ONE movie, but several different movies. Completely different than both Cars Land and Pandora, which ARE just based on one movie. It is just not the same thing at all. Now one can argue whether SWL belongs in DL, and I for one, am just fine with it, but I know others have issues. They're most certainly allowed their opinion.

I won't argue that it would be nice if they added something like Adventureland or Frontierland in the future, but what exactly would you base a completely new, unrelated land on in any current park? Almost everything would already fit into one of the current lands, and the issue there is expansion capability for those. In current lands, it seems Disney is more willing to replace attractions, rather than add new ones. If that is all they are willing to do, then I welcome adding new lands, even if they are based on a single movie, as we are getting something brand new, as opposed to a replacement. Some would argue we should get both - and I agree 100%, but that doesn't mean that TWDC will ever do it.

There's more than 1 Cars movie, and many more Avatar movies planned.
Very true, but the current lands were based solely on one movie. They may add an attraction in Pandora based on a future movie, but for now, it's only the one. Does DCA even have room to expand CarsLand at all?
