How is ESPN changing? They don't stream their events to everyone. You must have their channel on a cable package and on top of that their are still restrictions on what events are streamed. There are ton of articles out there about people that don't even want to buy ESPN directly especially at price point they would need to be at. They don't have programming that is worth 15-20 bucks a month. Netflix has millions of hours of shows and movies that people want. NBA games I can just buy their package directly from them and do. MLB same thing. Monday night football on ESPN must be shown by over the air channel in it's local market for the teams playing so i'm good there. I don't need ESPN. I don't like any of their talking heads. I don't care.

I have answered your question. Traveling is a real thing that young people are doing more and more of. Yes soccer has grown but it had to because US was the only place in the world that it's not the most popular sport. But even if MLS continues to grow they won't be delivering it by ESPN. The model will most likely be directly to consumers or via streaming via Amazon, twitter or verizon.

Actually in the case of Soccer FIFA owns the streaming rights so the streaming will probably originate from MLS and they may not do an exclusive deal but simply license all comers.

There's no "theme park wars." Universal owns a minority stake with Amblin, which is Spielberg's production company. Consequently they also have a first-look deal on his films and distribute most of them (ET, Jurassic Park, etc). As part of this, they also retain rights to market products based on these properties, in addition to theme park attractions. So no, no wars, just a very very lucrative deal for all involved.

I was talking about Spielberg Vs Lucas where Lucas backed Disney and told Spielberg Universal couldn't do what Disney could do with rides leading Spielberg to help develop Jaws and King Kong and invest in Universal Studios. Lucas said Star Tours was the best thing ever.

Is someone really saying that Americans want to watch soccer? Absolutely not true.

Kids very much still want to play sports, and watch them too. The reason attendance is going down across ALL major sports is because it has become stupid expensive to go to a game. Not for lack of interest and not because people would "prefer to travel".

Sports are a way of American life, more than any other nation. Not to mention that sports and athletics are incredible developmental tools for children.
The Browns were so pitiful last year that resale sites were selling tickets for $1.

They still had a hard time selling the tickets :p

In the past 13 months, I've been to 2 Cavs games, 1 Indians game, and 1 Nationals game (could have gone to the Browns for my first NFL game, but 1. There was a lot of snow. 2. ... it's the Browns...) Lucky for me, I didn't have to pay for the Cavs or Indians games (thanks Mom!). Even in the cheapest seats can be expensive, and that's without food and parking money. I'd love to be able to go to more games (either in Detroit or Cleveland), but gas + food + drink (water can be like $4) + parking really adds up.

Also, if health standards change, I believe that football and hockey could look different in 10-15 years. Last year I did a lot of research on concussions for work, and the effects of concussions can really be horrific. People will still watch sports, that's not going to change, but safety could start being a priority for players (if Goodell gets his head out of his a** and thinks about the men working for him).

I agree -- it's less about the game itself, and more about the cost to attend regularly. 1 game a year is a treat, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop watching or being interested.

And in regards to concussions/health even the Browns OL Joe Thomas just said recently he is experiencing memory loss (he's only 32)

George also produced Captain EO which opened in 86.
And until then the concept of a Lucas attraction in a Disney theme park was foreign. Eo was a new IP with established talent. That eased the way for the Indy attractions, Star Tours, and Alien Encounter.

I dont know that the problem is Marvel IP in a castle park, its the worry that they would not integrate it as well as the Lucas projects. Stark Tours seems like a waste, but Anything > Buzz so I am optimistic.

Want to change American Football for the better, Take away the protective gear except for the helmet but make the helmet a SOFT helmet like a bike helmet, Protects the head from impacts but is useless as a weapon. That would quickly dial down the violence in the game once players understand that they can get HURT similar to Soccer and then football would shift more to strategy than trying to bulldoze the opposing team. You would still have injuries from running and falling and you would not need players who weigh 300 pounds because of the damage they could inflict.

I mentioned this in the Future World thread, but I saw GotG 2 last night, and I am almost positive that the Collector's Tower wasn't there (there were apparently rumors that Disney would try to tie the DCA ride into the movie). If the tower does show up in the MCU, my guess is that it will briefly be seen in Infinity War (Benicio Del Toro will be back for that film... though my guess is that he'll be killed by Thanos)

I've heard some suggest that it was in the Thor: Ragnarok trailer on the Grandmaster's planet (since he and the Collector know each other that would make sense to me)

Nice catch!
The Grandmaster (thanks for writing the name, I've just been saying Jeff Goldblum) actually shows up in the GOTG credits- not in an actual scene, mind you, he's just there dancing with the other characters.
