That product was controversial before any of ours times (hence its name) and they removed the controversial ingredient and replaced it with the more acceptable ingredient- caffeine - which is still a drug nonetheless. Today, Coke still taste the same because it is the only drink that is legally allowed to extract the flavoring (not the drug) out of coca leaves, hence the "natural ingredients" you see that is listed in the ingredients. Besides that, it is still relatively natural - water, high fructose corn syrup or sugar, caffeine, coloring, and it's "secret" ingredient "natural flavors".

Energy drinks and shots are a whole different thing. First, they increase the caffeine by a lot (don't know exactly how much) and they mix it with a whole concoction of chemicals with the deliberate attempt to replicate the effect of "upper" drugs. One of these is an amino acid called Taurine. I know they add B vitamins and other chemicals. The B vitamins alone are good for you, but combined with the other chemicals in the soup, they have a different effect.

It is known that people have died from these drinks when combining it with alcohol.

The Marvel brand targets kids.

There's just too many red flags here. This is not the business Disney should be licensing to.
Punisher kills people. Like... shoots them in the head. Punisher is not for kids.

Sorry for my deviation. Didn't know there was real "news" to talk about. What is that pic of?
It's Avatar. Not new, but flies in the face of the narrative that Universal is setting the world on fire while Disney does nothing.

So, no theme park news, but Disney is licensing to a questionable product category is the Disney news for the moment, unfortunately.

No.

Punisher is a different brand than Mickey Mouse and the rules for what's appropriate are different. Iron Man can say "****," Donald Duck cannot.

Yeah, um, Punisher is about as not family friendly as can be for a comic book character. You could make the point that merely having Punisher in their library of IPs is not good for Disney -- I'd disagree, but that's a separate debate -- but with Marvel already having him, I don't see how it is a big deal to use that imagery to sell caffeine drinks.

Kinda the whole point of Disney acquiring Marvel is to expand the different brands they own to have things that appeal to different audiences that the family friendly core brand of Disney.

What on God's green earth are you talking about? There are several pages discussing today's earnings release, in which TWDC absolutely killed it, driven by Walt Disney World.
Thought that was old news. I guess we're just ahead and we already knew that was coming. But, kudos to Disney... I wish they would stop making us wait and announce something already! Anything... Anything small... Like Ottisville... It's just a small town...

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I will say, every survey I've ever received had a full compliment of responses, from poor to great.

Does anyone have a screen shot of a Dis survey that has excluded the negative options? I'd be curious to see one.
I've had "Poor" and some equivalents but never an open comment box.

Every Disney survey I have ever taken (and that is a lot) both online and in the parks has had the options of: excellent, very good, good, just okay, and poor. Once you selected one of those options it had an open comment box asking why you rated it the way you did.
And that others now and in the past have repeatedly reported other experiences means that your statement that these options are always available is false.

Spirited Musings:

Don't tell @Lee, but the really cool comic show is called The Flash and is on the CW right now. And for UNI fanbois there's a big monkey on tonight!

Considering that 13 pages have been added between last night and tonight, I can only attribute that to either a Disney fanboi lovefest over earnings numbers that were predictable (much like UNI's) ... either that or Jimmy Thick has returned (has he been booted from the DIS Boards already?)

So, Shanghai Disney Resort is HUGE ... a watershed moment for the company ... Mickey and The Weatherman planting a giant red, white and blue (sure!) Vinylmation in Mainland China, yet again the three highest execs of the company refuse to comment on it. And the financial press doesn't care because they're largely all whores for the companies they cover.

I'm sure @ParentsOf4 has taken apart the numbers inside and out by now. But one thing that any non-numbers person can see is that Disney is still playing the tale as old as time about raising ticket prices, hotel prices and food prices as driving increases in revenue and profit. It really just is more of the same right now. I'm wondering if we'll have another price hike soon to take advantage of DL's 60th.

Wasn't at all surprised to see attendance down at DLR a few ticks. So much was closed in the first three months of the year and since the makeup of audience in Anaheim is decidedly more local (I just wish people got what that means there ... most think it means the equivalent of a Four Corners APer at WDW!), one can surmise the construction coupled with the upcoming 60th played a role.

DLP is still having its issues and has major attractions down as it tries to bring the park back up to standards in time for the 25th in 2017. Between that and the Euro economic issues, not surprised that there are still large hurdles to getting the financials improved.

A bit surprised about HKDL ... but, again, Disney gets the China markets it is in and going into. Sure, if you believe that then you have one up on Bob Iger.

The amusing thing about Avengers: Age of James Spader is that it is being touted as a summer movie. Summer begins on June 21st when last I checked (unless the kids have gone and changed it) and by that time, Ultron will be ancient history from most multiplexes. The way Studios keep moving up the summer 'season', you're going to see summer films unspooling in April soon (and not the last day, either).

Yep. A combo of earnings talk and what is being assumed was a thick sighting.

I always thought of "the summer season" starting after Memorial Day, but not May 1st, that is really early for a summer movie.
