It is fascinating how the RoA news softens the blow of the arguably worse FP+/NGE talk. The same goes for August's MiceChat update; folks get upset about Star Wars Land, but the Marvel project for DCA is even less appropriate for that park.

How is Marvel inappropriate for DCA? Marvel comics take place in the "real" world and making it an extension of Hollywood Land is thematically harmless in a park that is hopelessly jumbled as it is. It's better placement than anywhere in DL, that's for sure.

Star Wars in DL bothers me more as being "appropriate" than Marvel in DCA. Though, honestly, the ideal thing would have been a third gate with those two IPs as the backbone.

Honestly, when it is all said and done, the plans for DL actually look pretty reasonable. The RoA are being preserved with all of the traffic there. The views from Frontierland/New Orleans Sq/Critter Country should be relatively unaffected and the boat rides should be similar just shorter. The guest areas of TSI don't appear to be changing. The railroad will be a bit shorter overall but might actually have more interesting views added as it goes near the RoA and the stretch of RR being cut out wasn't anything of note.

To be honest, I think the biggest loss would be the Fantasyland Theater which is kinda minor in the grand scheme of things in that park.

The biggest issue is the loss of all the water stuff (including Fantasmic!) and the railroad for over a year. That sucks for that period but at least DL (and DLR in general) has plenty to do to occupy guests. Closing a few attractions isn't that big a deal there, unlike (say) DHS and it's horrible small attraction list.

On the plus side, there will be no planned loss of attractions (except the petting zoo and theater) and we will see much better guest flow with SWL connecting Critter Country and Frontierland. That will be great during parades and Fantastmic!

Edit: I'd be cool if they did similar changes at WDW as well north of the RoA. However, the difference is that MK actually has usable land in that area that isn't closed in which could be developed without losing any of the RoA -- if desired by the powers that be.

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here, but everyone that makes a fuss about Magic Bands apparently hasn't heard about Royal Caribbean's novel invention called "WOW Bands"... which basically do EXACTLY the same thing Magic Bands do.

And btw, this news is almost a year old.

Great Wolf Lodge uses similar stuff for their resorts -- the bands open the room doors, can be used for charging and are used for admission to the water park.

Wow indeed. On a ship, you're carrying your room key/card in you pocket at all times making purchases easy. A cocktail here, a latte there, your tab runs up real quick on a cruise for that same reason. The band will let them squeeze just that much more out their guests. Man the bill you get on your last day of sailing sucks. Just like the magic band. How long until DCL gets MM+ at sea?

Magic Bands are used on DCL in the kids play area right now to keep track of the kids, but that's the extent of it. Wouldn't at all be surprised if they extend it shipwide soon though.

Perhaps MK's future Frontierland expansion? Do you think they would connect the circle and bridge the area between BTMRR and HM?
