He is right, but it a comes down to timing. If the SW installment goes Jar Jar Binks, he will look like Nostredamoues. If not, he will look like an average prognosticator. He is a broken clock predictor.
Even the original Jar Jar Binks movie still took in a ton of money, and this Star Wars movie has Luke, Han, Leia, and another generation of fans behind it.

Anyone thinking that Episode VII is gonna be another jar jar type disaster in fans eyes isn't paying attention. Everything we've seen so far looks like they got it right, or at the very least in the ballpark.
Youre right, Not a chance this will fail. JJ is a fan and a talented film maker. He already assured us of a better movie due to use of practical effects.

This film has zero percent chance of being worse than 1-3 and could even best 4-6 as far as being a good film.

Although practical effects aren't what made Star Wars great....there's no denying that this will be a good, successful, history-rewriting film. I just hope he doesn't do what he did in the second Star Trek movie where the nostalgic callbacks infiltrated the plot and made it predictable. Keep the "wink wink nudge nude" to easter eggs and it'll be fine.

It will be better than fine if Abrams was inspired by the same things that inspired Lucas, as opposed to just the earlier SW movies alone.

Reminder that each Prequel film had more practical effects and miniatures then the entire original trilogy combined. Yes, there was blue-screens everywhere, but the bulk of those fantastical backgrounds and cityscapes were done with bigatures as it was just more cost-effective to build it and digitally composite actors into miniatures then it was to model all that stuff at the time.

But the amount of CGI that was used when practical effects were muchere better was staggering. The biggest case IMO was Jabba in the remastered trilogy. How terrible was that?#
