A Spirited Perfect Ten

Robb Alvey would be great if he didn't scream at almost every point of every ride he goes on. I'd probably watch his videos more if he didn't. I guess being obnoxious is a selling point for many things related to YouTube nowadays, though. Sad.
Seems screaming helps popularity.
I mean.. look at the #1 guy in youtube.. (Pewdewpie)

please please please please let's not devolve into 8 pages of debating which maker of carbonated sugar water is better...

So you're okay with seven pages? In that case. RC Cola it is. :)

The spoiler tag is finally catching on!

And greatly appreciated by those of us who have yet to see Inside Out or Jurassic World.

Unfortunately, he took time out of his Japan trip to message me a screenshot of this thread as a warning, so I don't anticipate our relationship improving any time soon...
If someone has to use these kind of silly actions/antics. Id say the friendship is not worth it.

please please please please let's not devolve into 8 pages of debating which maker of carbonated sugar water is better...
Cant be worse than a full debate of cheesesteaks or frozen in norway again..

not to mention that...

the big water dinosaur was more terrifying than the "dominus" and its merge of stufff
I'd say the Indominus is definitely scarier for one reason: We live on land. Mosasaurus can't hunt on land, just stay out of the water and you're A-OK ;) Plus, the thing can command Raptors. That's scary in itself.

Reply to post re: Jurassic World

True....but...who ate who? Just sayin'
Only because ol' Rexy gave that helpful push to the edge of the water. I will admit though if I found myself in a lagoon with a Mosasaur, I would be very scared knowing my death is pretty imminent. I did add one last line to my last post as well.

Haven't seen Tomorrowland, but Jurassic World sucked hard and long. It's a stupid movie with a stupid, repetive plot that was vaguely redeemed by the blinking indominatosaurusstu(sp?) eye behind the truck/wall/door/fake amber hunk. If Tomorrowland is worse I'm glad I missed it because JW was terrible.
That same repetitive plot where the dinosaurs are the heroes?

I didn't intend to start a Robb-bashing party, and I'm not willing to write the guy off entirely. TPR does amazing POV videos of rides I'll never get to see in person, and (like I said) I always enjoy hanging out with him in person. His wife is also really nice to me, and I've had a great time going on trips with them (our Sally Corp tour was fantastic). I just don't like the way he treats people online (myself included).

As for being a Disney shill just because he gets PR event invites...I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to get on WDW's PR list for years, so I don't begrudge anyone who does get in. I have lots of other friends on the list, and I don't think it necessarily means you don't have journalistic integrity.

I think the problem is that Robb is a theme park enthusiast and booster whose mission is to promote positive things about attractions. I'm a critic whose job is to point out the good, the bad, and the ugly as objectively as I can. I respect his approach, but he doesn't have respect for mine.

Unfortunately, he took time out of his Japan trip to message me a screenshot of this thread as a warning, so I don't anticipate our relationship improving any time soon...
A warning? Of what? I know he's sensitive about who people are friends with because he's big on alliances and such, but there's a point when some people need to step back and realize that their actions conflict greatly with that rest of the market and only make an already niche community fragmented and strongly divided.

Anyone with an IQ over 80 who saw JP 1,2 and 3 should have been bored by JW. It was the same movie with a derivative yet worse plot with the added bonus of terrible acting and an unimaginative script.
I will certainly give you that the kids (especially the older one) weren't great actors. I also had higher expectations for Sgt. Pyle, but he didn't ruin it for me. I did feel that Pratt was excellent.

I really enjoyed Jurassic World and Tomorrowland. I honestly can't fathom the heat some folks are throwing at them. Or it's just my taste in movies...

Been thinking about Tomorrowland, and how though I really liked it, it could have been better. What I would have done....trilogy.

Film one...the story of the ingenious kid, his jet pack, his quest to get to the Worlds Fair and ending with his discovery of Tomorrowland.

Film two...the actual story of Tomorrowland, Walt, Plus Ultra, etc. And then show what happened to it.

Film three...everything from the one we actually got, excluding the boy/jetpack/Fair.

There was a great story to be told there...but condensing it to one film crippled it.

I should totally have a job in Hollywood....
I'd be on board for all three movies, but if the first one failed you don't get 2 and 3. It's unfortunate, but I'd love to see studios think that way. It's also conceivable that in your outline, film one would be the least expensive story to tell.

Robb Alvey from ThemeParkReview. His page and POV videos would be generally considered elite within the theme park and enthusiast community if it weren't for the fact that he treats people like absolute garbage online.

I will say that the bad attitude part seems to be a more recent thing, and I've seen it happen to other people who have a presence and a following online. I think part of it comes from the inevitable stupid questions and trolls that happen on pretty much every website these days. After a few years, it can get to you.

There was a person who used to make Youtube videos about Japan several years ago, seemed like a super cool guy, but eventually he started getting very negative about things people asked him about, etc. and I think it was the same reason.

He has banned people for engaging in healthy discussions on numerous occasions. The most recent one being when he lost his cool when people very legitimately questioned whether Six Flags's new El Diablo rides should be considered roller coasters. Many people very calmly discussed this, with some people pointing to dishonesty in the marketing campaigns and setting a bad precedent for the future of coaster investments from parks. He killed the conversation, blamed everyone for ruining the fun, and banned them for speaking out against Six Flags.

He doesn't want a community of theme park and coaster enthusiasts. He wants likes, upvotes, and positive metrics to sell his site to parks. He wants minions and yes men to further his agenda.

Ah, that makes more sense.

Maybe there needs to be an UnTPR message board, like the UnDIS one

You're better off remaining unaware. No reason to burden yourself with the needless drama that follows him around.
unfortunately, with these kind of people.. as soon you mention them.. THEY BRING THE DRAMA TO YOU.
directly or indirectly (like indirect insults on their own pages, or outright telling their followers to attack for them)

Sounds exactly like Disney's PR Blog lol!
