Ya, Disney cant play the Frozen card anymore without looking extremely desperate (if they havent hit that point already) and with a lack of any actually exciting theme park news that doesnt involve recycling the words "coolest summer", Star Wars is their Paladin with 18 charisma and 97 hit points which can use the Helm of Disintegration and do 1-D4 damage as their half-elf Mage wields his plus-5 Holy Avenger.....oh wait, Paladins cant use the Helm of Disintegration, never mind. They will probly screw it up and just make an up charge event that will have fans drooling to spend $50 for scrambled eggs and bacon.

I think by bringing Summer Fun LIVE! (Gotta make sure it says LIVE!) AGAIN this year, with less, is already pushing it in terms of Frozen. Enough. Move on. It worked last year. No one cares this year. It 100% reeks of desperation. I mean, sure it gives guests in the busy summertime a little something extra, but it's desperate. How about, you know, building things?

They need to get a move on. No offense to Pratt but he won't always be young and in demand. Disney moves at such a glacial pace. I don't need a 55 year old Pratt just starting the new movies. LOL. That's if he's even still around Hollywood. He's shockingly normal and down to earth. He wants to move away from the limelight.

Yep. I have to take my mom in on a comp ticket for my birthday since I can't get her in. Yes I get that it's busy season, but it's not quite that busy.

I doubt they will take any away for July/Aug. They didn't last year.

Last year it wasnt blacked out more than 8 days for August. But July? Sheesh, 28 Days. This year? All damn summer. Now through August 22, I think.

Last year all those crowds were 6/7 range at MK. Of those blackouts, what, 25% of the time it was a peak crowd? I'd love to know managements reasoning here.

I can't believe some of the products that are advertising films and franchises. Ran into Target today and was picking up shaving cream (Barbasol) and it was themed to JW.

Across the way, I saw Listerine (for kids I think) and Crest toothpaste with Frozen, Star Wars and Avengers IP.

If you're looking for tie in genius, look no further than the freezer aisle in the UK...

Star Wars didn't come out yet. Give them time.

Jurassic Park should have had a huge expansion to coincide with Jurassic World. Instead they used the pad for Kong in 2016, when the Kong movie was delayed to 2017. The new meet and greet is cool, but it isn't nearly what should have been for Jurassic.
Yeh cos frozen is getting is ALL the love from Disney in epcot isn't it?!?! Once that tiny boat ride opens, and the meet and greet, that's it.....disney wont build anything else for frozen in WDW! Whereas there is space for an expansion at Jurassic park of a sizeable D possibly E ride according to other comments posted here already!Don't dare tell me that the boat ride is an E ticket....and personally I don't even consider it to be a D ticket either?!

Yep, through 8/22. It's ridiculous, and the response is go to the other parks. Okay, that's fine and dandy, and I could even understand if all weekends were blocked, but every day? I know a lot of spouses who have gotten APs for them and their children to be able to play during the summer.

Also there's a method to my madness here. I personally believe they're screwing over the cast.

So earlier, in another thread, in 2000 there were Eight blackout days at the MK for maingates. Attendance was 14.7M. 15.4M. (Edit: Wrong Column)

In 2014 there were 153 blackout days vs 19.3M attendance. Thats a 25% rise in attendance vs an astronomical 1812% increase in Blackout days. Also, Capacity was added with the Fantasyland expansion. (Checking the math.... (y2-y1)/y1 .... (153-8)/8 ... Holy Cow!)

This brings us to the mystery 101 days of "average" days that were blacked out. Yes, the 38 peak days, no one can argue those (25%), tho there were the 14 days (9%) that had no business being blacked out. I'm really leaning towards saying No, they simply should not have. Its bordering on egregious behavior. I mean there's no way attendance rose that much to warrant this, especially with Capacity at 90k+ with the 2012 expansion.

The only thing that would tell us definitively is how much of the MK audience is maingated in. Basically the percentage of Daily Attendance that is a maingate. Simple average would do....

We didn't go on vacation when I was growing up, as we couldn't afford to do so. But if we had, my mother would have done all the choosing and planning. Just as I do all of the planning. One week a year is with my husband's family, so I guess I don't choose that one - although I am the one who gets with them to make a decision on destination, not him. I am also the "tour guide" as my husband likes to say. I do all of the planning, even if he has determined the destination, such as a trip to Costa Rica a couple of years ago for a competition.

But going to WDW was never a major vacation due to proximity. I've gone with my children and without my husband more times than with him. So I don't know if I would have made a unilateral family decision to go there. ;)

We have no problem taking short solo trips to pursue our different interests; I travel a lot for my sports officiating, and he travels for his shooting competitions. I just recently spent a week helping my son get settled in a different state. I am now a 100% empty nester.

A trip to Costa Rica? Oh do tell. I mean Speck (remember him?) used to tell me about his trips there, sounds amazing....

At least the Barbasol makes sense seeing as both the first movie and first book reference Barbasol as the way Nedry was to steal the Dino eggs.
