A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

A resort that has been properly maintained and updated since 1983 where everything looks like it did on opening day... or a resort that is struggling to get everything operational by it's opening. That math is pretty easy for me.

But Shanghai has unique attractions you don't see in Japan, like the sight of guests defecating in the bushes, or breaking off bits of the castle to take home as souvenirs.

Once again, Drake made some very fundamental mistakes that should not have occurred, especially in regards to TRON Lightcycle Power Run. Unlike the Mark VIIs these are not things that others can fix after the fact.

Can you elaborate on that? I hadn't heard of problems with Tron yet.

The show building is fully exposed and visible throughout the park. The large canopy out front is sitting in front of a large, looming box. The queue is probably one of the absolutely worst in recent memory and a complete embarrassment for what is supposed to be part of the latest generation of E-Ticket attraction. It is nothing more than a few lights and graphics amongst blank walls.

The coaster itself is fun. It doesn't capture the intensity of the games but is a fun layout in how it moves about. It's biggest flaw is the launch that clearly heads straight outside where far too much light shines in as the launch faces south.

The canopy looks great for the approaches to the building and all the areas where guests move around the overhead track etc. The queue also has full wall video screens and high tech videos fitting for the attraction. I've not seen any end to end videos of it.. but it can't be empty from what we've seen. Plus you apparently cross over the load/launch areas as well for visuals of the ride (like Space at DL).

Seems overplayed from the different videos I've seen. Its a bigger issue for the front of the train, but even still its a good bit away from where the train launches from.

Which makes me ask an unrelated question - did they clamp down on folks taking ride videos? I know Japan can be difficult to film at, too - I'm just curious why we've only seen a few videos posted a few weeks back and I can't seem to find many new ones of the attractions. For example, I've only seen two real full Pirates ride-throughs - every time I think I've found a new one, it's just a re-post of one of those.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed.

What? I see plenty of videos from Japan. Thing is the language barrier makes it tricky to search for on YouTube sometimes.

I have too, now - but I thought that they previously had issues because of the ban on attraction filming. I just remember a period when it was difficult to find them. Could be totally wrong, but just something I've thought about now when I'm looking for Shanghai vids.
