A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

I root for side Marvel characters more than I root for the new main Star Wars characters.
Honestly. I guess they just assumed that because they're fighting for the Resistance that people would connect with them. Nope. Luke was a great character you wanted to root for because he was an underdog and had a genuine reason for wanting to fight the Empire.

It's obvious they are trying to be different with this trilogy, but in doing so they created a story feels incredibly lazy.

The way they’re being different is putting their #1 focus on trying to be diverse and progressive rather than on writing a good story or good characters. This can be seen in Solo as well with the new droid and it’s also why anyone can use the Force without training now as well. They go down their checklist and think it’s enough. I’m one of those people that really doesn’t care how diverse your movie is, I want good characters. Give me T’Challah over Finn any day of the week. That’s a character to root for. Hell, even Shuri.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottm...ers-infinity-war-fends-off-solo/#334fb61a70e9 Deadpool 2, which I really enjoyed, is paying the price of being right between an Avengers movie and a Star Wars movie. These 3 films are cannibalizing each other (I know D2 isn’t Disney, but if the Fox deal goes through, it will be). As the article states, the week before Memorial Day isn’t safe anymore, especially if another movie comes out the next week.

If I was Disney (or any other company), I would definitely take a look at what months typically underperform, then stick a big blockbuster there. February worked for Deadpool and Black Panther, and August was great for the first Guardians film. There’s far less competition in months like these (January is incredibly ripe for the picking, studios).

“Zootopia” killed it in March ‘16 versus “Moana”, which has its knees cut off by “Sing”.

I’ve got high hopes for Captain Marvel next year, as it’s being released in March (and the cast looks good)

Bumping Infinity War up a week was a great strategy move by Disney. Solo should have been pushed back a couple months to late July or early August, just to space out the Star Wars movies a bit better

There’s better ways to do a swan song. Everyone knew Luke, Han, and Leia wouldn’t last forever but we thought they’d be treated better.
I liked the movie so I felt they did okay. Are there better ways? Sure.

I thought TLJ would have been a much better send off for Leia than Luke.

BTW, is anyone else getting weird PMs from that gyro guy - the one who was all "aliens hate Christmas"? (Please say it's not just me. Please say it's not just me. Please say it's not just me.)

Yeah, I got one, too. But then again, I had joined in the discussion of incarnational xenosoteriology.

Did you folks see the Chinese thread invasion a couple weeks back?
Yeah, they keep returning too. Usually filling the forum around midnight Pacific Time. Sucks. Big thank you to the admins here for clearing it up before I wake up again :)
Glorious isn’t it? Maybe Disney will get a wake up call in time for Episode 9 to actually be good.
We can only hope, but I'm not holding my breath. A look at Iger's "likes" on Twitter will tell you all you need to know...

Unfortunately, the new Skywalker saga movies are filled with cringy acting across the board.

LOL the fanbois on various sites were absolutely devastated the actor playing Crylo didn't get an Oscar nomination for his performance, because they think that trembling and looking like a toddler about to cry is "great acting" hahahaha.
