That's well documented

Take that doc with a massive grain of salt.

For example, women being kept in inking and painting was established long before Walt at the big animation studios in NYC. Walt inhereited that structure as he model his operation in part on them and later brought in New York talent to improve the quality of his animated shorts.

A more productive conversation would be about the systems within which we exist and how we can be forced to inherit their strictures and how hard it can be to break them down once established.

So we are to believe the stories of 3 people who were all fired? The main one (mustache man) being one that was fired for generating walk-outs in the studio trying to create a Union?

Instead of believing the dozens of other accounts refuting such claims from women , blacks, asians, latinos and Jews? We'll just ignore the Sherman brothers and Floyd Norman, right?

Regardless, it's a pointless claim- because comparing the morals and values of the 1950s and 60s to the morals and values of today is a fallacy in and of itself.
Pitch that propaganda elsewhere.

I really would love to rant about how bad the FOX deal is for Disney, the entertainment industry and the American public. And how ignorant so many fans are about why this is bad for all of the above.

Oh, and since you love turning my threads into SW and Marvel droolfests, I'd love to tell you all how crappy the latest film was. And how Disney obviously doesn't care about what these films look like or do, so long as they bring in billions of dollars and billions more in lousy merchandise. But you'll say I am biased (I clearly had future plans as a Disney critic when I loved the original three!)

Hell, I might like to even talk about how DLP got smart and went to an old DL and decades-long TDL tradition of private limited attendance parties on NYE (Yes, they're closing at 6:30 on 12/31, but also offering free pyro to all over Lake Disney).

I might ... but I am busy celebrating the holidays. And y'all need to go see SW 3-4 times to make sure it was as bad as you originally thought (actually saw some dude on CNN #fakenews saying people who didn't like it should go see it another few times for the exact reason).

Just remember, the Spirit is never as far away as you might think. A very merry Christmas to my friends here and most people here

You're not biased, but apparently you, and I, and the many others who feel the same way about the new movie simply don't exist. According to what I've been told in other discussions, negative feedback toward the latest chapter in the galaxy far, far away is either fake news, or some sort of agenda set by "fanboys". Who knew?

But glad to see you back, and happy holidays!

As we sat watching the credits roll by on a cold night, we talked about how many fans haven't liked this and a friend pointed out the 93% positive ratings of critics. To which my only response was (and is) that they want to keep Disney happy. You might get away with a tepid Cars 3 review because that film will make its money in toys and DVD sales etc. But if Robert A. Iger wants you to like something you damn well better like it.

And, as well know, he's looking to die in office as CEO. He won't give this job up and this company is going to look unrecognizable when he leaves.

Happy Holidays to you too!!!

Yes, not shocking ... and notice how the Lasseter talk has quieted down?
I guess Zenia’s earning her paycheck these days?

Take a note of how the misconduct allegations against someone like Dustin Hoffman have had a high tide/low tide cycle. After a month of no new allegations, he was just accused, by a women who went on the record, of doing a Harvey. The piece where victims speak out with their names against Lasseter, if it ever comes, will put his career to bed.

Apparently Stan Lee actually approved of the Fox Deal with Disney.

Thank the maker. I keep being told I'm crazy for not liking the newest film. There is some good stuff in there but overall the story is just bad. At least a handful seem to think this with me. There are literally no back stories anymore.
It's possible you didn't consume the proper ratio of popcorn to slurpee to truly enjoy it.

Disney, under (and before) Bob Iger, has a known history for trying to silence and censor voices critical of them and their products, from bloggers to journalists to novelists to financial analysts. No conspiracy theories needed. That is a fact.

I don't for a minute believe film critics don't fear losing access to Disney events, screenings, celebs etc if they anger the company. You likely missed what they did to an LA Times film critic over the paper daring to ask critical questions about the company's relationship with the city of Anaheim and whether that benefits or harms the citizens of the city more.

So? Stan is from all accounts a lovely man who is devoted to his craft and his Marvel creations. And he has even been able to become a bit actor in the films in his 80s and now 90s. But his opinion is totally irrelevant to the deal. His focus is simply on what's best for Marvel. Owning IP that you are hamstrung from using is not good, but is the reality of where Marvel was 20 years ago.
