Zero to do with politics the Murdochs are corporate raiders in the media space. They make their riches by buying companies and firing most of the staff. Selling some units and keeping others.

Boston Herald for one, Murdoch bought the Herald-American made the staff re-apply for their jobs most of them did not get their jobs back.

I happen to believe that a robust media business representing views across the pollitcal spectrum is essential to a functioning society.

Efforts by guys like the Murdochs to turn media into a corporate monoculture hurt everyone.
Buying a company and reviewing the employment of everyone is not illegal or immoral. In fact I hope Disney reviews the job performance of everyone who works at Fox. They also need to continue to review the management of Disney management and Fox management to determine which ones will lose their jobs in positions that overlap and not needed due to duplications. I know this sounds horrible but Disney is a company and should maximize their profits. They also need to reinvest in the company and using treasury stock is a great way to do that. Get over your anti Murdoch, anti Disney viewed. And watch out for Comcasts next purchase.

And it's guys like Murdoch who have destroyed the careers of ordinary americans so they can pursue their quest for money and power.

I DONT like Iger and think he's a bad CEO but compared to any of the Murdochs he's Mother Teresa

I think those who complain about Fox are really expressing their political views. Please give specific cases where Murdoch destroyed someone. Fox reported news just like the other networks. They have a bias towards Republicans just like MSNBC, CNN, ABC and NBC do towards Democrats. This is not a political complaint and if it is considered one then all the posts against the Murdoch's should be removed too.
Network executives like Bob Iger and Jeff Zucker are just as bad as Murdoch. In their greed, they abdicated their responsibilities as stewards of the public airwaves by turning news divisions, which are meant to educate the public, into profit centers by stripping away the news for viewership and advertising $$$. They may not have the “liberal bias” they have been accused of, but they’ve dumbed down broadcast and cable journalism at a time when a national consensus on the news of the day to have intelligent, rigorous conversations on the issues matters.

These companies have abused the public trust for various means and should be held accountable for their failings so they can be what our nation needs.

Actually it is Immoral, and the value extraction model of public company management dates back to Michael Milliken 'junk bond king' who was subsequently convicted of fraud

If you go back to the beginning of corporate law one of the great fears was the 'joint stock' companies would create an small oligarchy of very rich and impoverish the rest of the population. (See 2008 financial crisis for examples of this thought at work)

So early corporate law insisted that job creation and maintenance was a part of a corporation's responsibility as they needed to be responsible both to the community and shareholder.

We need to get back there before its too late

Well News International did get done for phone hacking in the UK. And the guy who is supposed to be getting a job with Disney was described in a parliamentary inquiry as a mafia boss

The best way to explain the Disney/Fox deal and the power/control they would have.

Disney sounds like a great place to work. Sexism started with Walt himself.
Believe it or not, Walt’s shop was better than the status quo at other animation studios. Problem was his “boys” didn’t take too kindly to seeing women hired or promoted in roles like character animator, visual development or story. The ‘41 strike saw the end of female advancement at the studio for a long time. (Mary Blair had just made the cut and was one of Walt’s favorites like Ward Kimball or Herb Ryman) A culture of sexism and male entitlement permeates through American society, the Walt Disney Studios, sadly, wasn’t immune.

With all the diversity training going on today, it is just a shame that we can't look back and judge people based on the times they lived. Walt gave women more opportunities than others at the time. Did he talk about his boys and not give women complete credit, yes. But look at Mary Blair and say women had no chances or respect and you are wrong.
