You just said it yourself. Predatory. As in, the Predator and Prey dynamic among animals. Some people are just really screwed up in what they view as prey. It’s sick.

The reality is that the world sucks and will continue to suck. Utopia is a pipe dream and “it’s a small world” fits in Fantasyland for a reason. We will always have terrible people in our society.

Just find what makes you happy and live until you die. That’s my philosophy anyway.
You can have your life philosophy, and i'm not going to disagree with that. But you were stating biological theories as facts and excuses for behavior, and they are neither.

The difference between humanity and animals IS that we can control our base animal instincts. To allude that men cannot do so, is obviously incorrect.
I never said only men cannot do so. My implication was anyone who performs these heinous acts are basically giving in to baser instincts which others can better control or simply aren’t in them as strongly.
You are either part of the revolution for human rights, or you are a deplorable, ignorant...who seeks to support those who seek to oppress you.
If you can get everyone to stop being mean and never be mean again which seems to be the goal of all this I’ll be right there with you. Until then I’m going back to my video games to escape the crappy world I live in.

The goal is equality.

Equality of opportunity.

And, if everyone is given that, then there is no reason why they won't have equality of outcome.

As long as certain groups are looked down upon in society, enough so to be the butt of jokes or derisive commentary...then these people, including women, but even more so those of other oppressed groups, will never be allowed to attain the heights of success they can achieve.

And, with that, diversity is never truly understood. Diversity is our strength, because, as a diverse group of individuals, we can have better stories for our movies, better designs for our buildings, and produce a truly inclusive environment for all that maximizes the abilities of every human, instead of tossing those who are socially discarded due to their uncontrollable nature.

I say make jokes about everyone equally. Some of the stuff people come up with are amazing.

On the rest we agree. I’m all for equality. It’s just that sometimes I see things being done by people in this movement that makes me roll my eyes at the whole thing like when people try to cry racism or sexism about every little thing even when they couldn’t be more off base in that situation. A good example of this would be a recent situation where a bunch of people declared the latest Mario game racist because he can wear a Sombrero and Poncho. It’s almost like the boy who cried wolf.

Even then it’s a very tough road ahead. I doubt there will ever be the utopia you people dream of.

We’re getting on the right track with the discussion regarding how social structures enable predatory behavior. Just wanted to add this piece about the psychological reasons why a man would force a woman watch him on a potted plant.

I absolutely agree that our social structures enable predatory behavior. Victim blaming has been around for millennia and is ingrained in the earliest teachings we received as children. I first called B.S. on this as a child of five when the bible story of Dinah was taught to me so that the whole point of the story was that it was Dinah's fault she got raped and then her brothers murdered a whole town - all because Dinah wanted to visit some girls in Ca'naan: https://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/bible-stories/2/jacobs-daughter-dinah/

Well, the answer is simple.

We should teach men not to rape.

Nobody is taught.
It is far more complex than our "animal natures".

The rape culture women endure on a daily basis is one that was created and written into our social hierarchy and structures of power. Systems designed and controlled by men, for the benefit of men.

With 1 in 4 women being raped or sexually assaulted within their lifetime, this matter impacts all of us on a daily basis. But, we, as a society, have chosen to ignore it until recently.

Why would we choose not to pay attention to the warning signs sent out by oppressed victims that only now, thanks to this movement, have the ability to stand together against their oppressors?

It isn't just women that are victims of this toxic philosophy. The differently abled, People of Color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, all have been victims, to varying degrees, of the patriarchy ingrained in colonial western thought. We are all taught it, reared into it, consume it through our media and our social interactions...and it is disgusting.

It only survives because we allow it.

We must allow them a voice, we must give them the proper spaces to cope and to heal, and we must empower them to fight back against those who would hold them down.

The way to move forward is to speak up about your stories. Shame others, stop laughing at offensive racist and sexist jokes, stop allowing women to be objectified by the male dominated media and workplace, and allow the oppressed not only an equal, but louder voice, at the table.

Become involved in organizations that actively promote equality, become involved in your child's education to ensure that proper lessons are taught, from consent in sexual education courses to historical systems of privilege and oppression in history courses. Teach them about microaggressions, and how, even innocuous things they do or say, might cause others discomfort, at best, and actively discriminate, at worst.

We, quite literally, need to undo decades and centuries of male dominated concepts of consent. And to do that, we need to tear down the walls erected to support those who fight against it, for their own benefit.

It is up to you to teach your children, especially young boys and men, that their advances, jokes and even, at times, presense are not appropriate, not welcome, and, even if not physical, are an assault upon their victims.

They must recognize their privilege, be it racial, gender or economic, and actively work to reject it to resolve the sins of the past. Only then can we, as a society, move forward with true equality.

There is no rape culture, 1 in 4 women are not sexually assaulted, you are intentionally lying and regurgitating false information to push your political agenda. YOU are part of the problem!

What we need to do is take things case by case and punish rapists and sexual predators of BOTH genders to the fullest extent of the law. We also need to not ignore actual evidence of potential misconduct by top Hollywood executives and actors as well as politicians and donors because of who they are. If you are posting images of child abuse to Instagram then you need investigated regardless of how much you donate.

That article mentions some possible excuses, but fails to admit that some men are just arrogant POS.

This is the real problem.....some people are just POS. Goes for women too who take advantage of the fact that adolescent boys are too jacked up on hormones to turn their sick pedo advances down. The rise of these cases makes me wonder how long that’s been going on undetected and if some of these guys weren’t created by just sick men who molested them but women too.

Similar thing with the story of Medusa. I learned that one from History Channel.

OMG.....someone presented Anita Sarkeesian as a source of credible info.
Anita has spoken in front of the UN. She is very credible.

http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/stories/2015/9/cyber-violence-report-press-release

She has a Master's degree and is highly knowledgeable in the social sciences field. Her ground breaking work exposing sexism in the gaming community , as well as harassment and sexual abuse online (1 in 5 women will experience this before the age of 24, you know), has done wonders to reach out and spread the message of equality to a new generation. A generation who, thanks to her work and the work of other advocates like Zoe Quinn, will be focused not on the colonial structures of the past, but towards seeding a new and brighter future for all humanity, where women, PoC, the differently abled and LGBTQ+ individuals are given their choice over their roles in society, instead of having gender, racial or other roles forced upon them by external pressures.

Thanks to work like hers, society will forge a new system of ethical justice, which is swift in cases of grievance to support the claims of the victim instead of the accused, pays reparations for past oppressions and destroys the patriarchal systems of control that seek to oppress all those who are not privileged.

It's time for programs like these to be mandatory on all campuses, to meet the CORE goal for safe campuses. CORE is Culture Of REspect!!!

Anita Sarkeesian was part of some teleseminar racket and never finished any of her Kickstarter-driven video series. In fact, she wasn't even the main writer of Tropes vs Women (that was Jonathan McIntosh) and almost all the game footage was taken from other Youtube channels and most of her research amounted to quickly going through stuff on Wikipedia. She's the Harold Hill of feminism and Zoe Quinn isn't much better.

McIntosh is a great ally to the cause, and his excellent work on the series proves his devotion.

But, he wasn't the one who had to face death threats, rape threats, and hoards of disparaging trolls on Twitter. That was Anita. Her bravery, in light of all of these, pushing forward on topics such as how, in games, women's butts are visible all the time...which hyper-sexualizes young boys, permanently damaging them and teaching them that women are sexual objects to be controlled, instead of equal partners in society.

She is a brave advocate to stand up to these systems, and has succeeded in gaining the ear of several large corporations committed to justice, like Twitter. And, her tireless work ushered the way for others, like Francesca Ramsay, to follow in her path, and spread the word to a new connected generation, who will, as a result, be highly aware and supportive of true justice in society.

Wow.....did they use drugs or some kind of torture to brainwash you? This is the unfortunate product of our education system. Scary and I’ll let you continue this with yourself as that is the only way you can argue with someone living in the same world as you.
