A new park Icon for DHS!

SD is closed now and HW is not just films I think RnRC fits fine and represents the HW recording industry. They need to adress TV as well though. I have always thought an interactive TV studio where people can see what goes into a live broadcast would be great. I think if the tie it in with ESPN it would be great ESPN Interactive Studios!

American Idol Experience and the former Who Wants to Be a Millionare does and did just that. They represent TV and the audience participation is somewhat interactive. From what I heard (have not done it yet), the American Idol Experience sorta shows you what goes into a live broadcast.

What does the following have to do with Hollywood.

Toy Story Mania
Pixar Parade
Rumored and now canceled MI coaster.

The direction it is heading with its new attractions is in the total opposite direction of the HW theme.

Wow you really don't get it.

Toy Story mania is based on a MOVIE

Pixar Parade is based off Pixar Studios MOVIES

Monster's Inc. is a MOVIE

Am I the only one that is not missing this MOVIE theme :lookaroun

Last time I checked and heard WDW don't own the image rights to use the chinese theatre as a park icon, which would explain probably why they haven't used it as one previously. The hat is here to stay for the time being at least and I don't see it happening within the next few years due to the already proposed fantasyland redo that is set to use all of whatever little budget WDW has been issued. If they do change it, I would love for the earful tower to return to its rightful place as park icon. Its kind of forgotten about now and its a real shame. A water tower has been the icon on many famous hollywood studios throughout is golden age and since DHS is based on a 'mock' studio theme park I don't see why it can't be used.

I guess only movies from the 20's-50's count

I guess you dont get it!

Those are movies, but they have nothing to do with HW. If during TSM the toys showed you what went into making a CGI FIM then Yes.

The MI coaster and Pixar Parade how would they have tied into HW besides just being films?

Acutually during the 20th anniversary History of the DHS show with Imagineer guests at DHS, it has been confirmed BAH will come down sometime in the next few years.

Sure I do and movies from the 20's-50's are the epitome of classic Hollywood film-making. You seem to think any movie that represents this era is fine but newer films are not unless they show or educate about film making. Pixar has made some of Disney's best flicks. But since they weren't made "in Hollywood" they don't count. Star Wars was filmed all over the world and it offers nothing in terms of explanation but seems fine by you. You have such a narrow definition of what belongs in HS as it has to be filmed in Holyywood whereas most people think of the studios as just movies.

When it was MGM, did you feel any non-MGM movie didn't belong there?

Like you said they changed the park into a movie park/mock studio, movie attractions fit.

No, it doesn't.

Yes, it does. Walt always wanted to have a grand attraction that attracts guests to it when they enter the park. He has explained this in interviews. Now, technically they could make something else a symbol but Walt's vision was to have a big weenie that was a treat to the guests just like the weenie treat he gave his dog every night.

You are taking this Hollywood and Studios thing a little too far.

What do most people associate movies or films with? The vast majority of people will say Hollywood.

So, by your logic, Tower of Terror shouldn't be there because it has nothing to do with showing how a TV show works, but because it represents the TV INDUSTRY it can be there. Same with RnRC... because it represents the INDUSTRY.

Well, then what does Star Tours have to do with Hollywood? Obviously nothing because it's only BASED on a movie. Well, The Great Movie Ride is BASED on all kinds of movies, and I bet you have no problems with it.

I never said it had to be made in the 20's or 50's so please don't put words in my mouth. My problem is not with Pixar and I'm pretty sure they were made in Cali. The park is evolving into a park more like DCA. It really might only be half a studios park and half Pixar park one dayand I don't have a problem with that. But to make the argument that you are making that TSM is just at much of a HW studios ride as TGRM and TOT is just silly.

Yeah, and that is what the weenie does. A weenie does not have to be an icon though. Astro Orbitor is not an icon, but it is a weenie. Splash Mountain is not an icon, but it is a weenie. Everest is not an icon, but it is a weenie.

The theater functions nicely as the weenie for Hollywood Blvd. Same as ToT works for Sunset. The Earful Tower works as the icon for the overall park. Nobody ever said the icon has to be at the center of the park, look at EPCOT.

Well since TOT is set in HW in the 20's or 30's and is an immersive attraction that brings you into another world I'd say it's fine. TSMM is suppose to be a Midway carnival game, which is why it fits in much better in Paridise Pier in DCA.

Sorry to interupt, but just to get back on topic a little...I really don't mind the Hat. I think it's pretty cool actually. I don't see the need to change it, but it is too bad that the theatre is blocked by it.

It would be pretty cool to be able to walk down the main strip and see the theatre at the end of the way.
