A Look at the new Mexican Tequila Bar

I believe so. When you think about it, there are at least ten popular brands of Tequila. Each brand has at least three or four types. (Patron silver, gold, etc.) If this is successful the idea has potential. You could have a Bourbon bar in the U.S. pavilion, or a Scotch one in the U.K. pavilion.

There are actually three "types" of Tequila,
blanco/plata (white/silver) is your generic white tequila used for mixed drinks

reposado, which tends to be golden has been "aged" for a few months in oak casks

anejo (tilda over the n) which is aged for a year or more in oak. This is the premium tequila for sipping, not shots (reposado is also very good).

Hopefully they will offer some good sangrita (not sangria...see: http://www.tequilasource.com/sangrita/)

It's good having a work facility in Guadalajara (to do my homework)

Wow, I had not really been following this much, but I expected the tequila bar to be one of those temporary looking kiosks across from the pavilion. This is really nice!

Yeah, I'm rather impressed with it as well. :) For all those tequila lovers out there, this should be a welcomed addition (especially if there is a good variety of tequila available).

I think my girlfriend's mother will be doing the tequila tasting when we're down there in a month. I'm guessing the rest of us will pass.

Again, this was as close as I was able to get. I didn't notice it while I was there, but looking at the pictures now I notice an absence of tables and chairs.

There are a few tables and chairs. The tables have tile on the tops of them and the chairs are bar height.

Is there another entrance/exit to this little bar? I notice an "Exit" sign in the back of the room; is there access from outside the pavilion? :veryconfu

That's an emergency exit only and it leads to backstage.

La Cava del Tequila is now open for business at the Mexico Pavilion.

There is a poster in the Cast Services building at Epcot that states it will open on Aug. 31st. I originally thought it opened early too but it didn't.

Yes!

"Hey Tex, let's sashay on over to that there Amur'can Aventure place, and have us a Bourbon and Branch."

"No Tekillie Duke?"

"Naw, leave that for those Fanboy whippersnappers, tastes like the runoff from Luthers Boots."

First off, thanks to the other members here for their feedback from my post I made 2 pages and 24 hours-ish ago . One thing is for sure, this year's F&W Festival just got a whole lot more interesting, but also as mentioned a couple of posts ago, I'm kind of wondering what the coin factor's gonna be....Patron in a normal bar in my area is top shelf, so I can only imagine what'll cost in Epcot, not to mention the top line imported tequilas (yikes!). Either way, looks like a great addition to one of the more popular pavillions in the showcase.

Heading for the great escape.
Ode to Jose the curse of Cuervo,
So hard to say no though it gives one the fever,
Pretends to be friendly,
Then it's all over, over,
It's all over, over,
Pretends to be fine,
Then the curse of Tequila,

It makes me happy,
Con Tequila it feels fine,
Con Tequila when the doors are opened,
And con Tequila when they're calling time,
That's the curse of,

Sierra sunrise and Margarita,
They'll break your heart in the desert heat,
Tell you you're thirsty,
They'll tell you you're sober, sober,
It's all over, over,
They'll tell you you're fine,
Then the curse of Tequila....

If there's a lot on your mind it's there to help you forget,
To relax and rewind and leave behind the regret,
First sip makes you well before you know it it's time,
And you're saying to hell with the salt, lemon and lime,
Salt, lemon and lime, time Tequila,

That's the curse of Tequila.....

Oh yes...........................................

I can see that this is going to be where I am going to spend a lot of time when I'm in World Showcase, as if Mexico wasn't already one of my favourite pavilions. A couple of shots of Patron Silver (for some reason, it's the only tequila that I can take shots of and not feel like vomiting immediately afterwards) and then a margarita made with Patron Silver to take with me. Do you suppose they can do a kiwi-flavoured margarita slush, like is part of the Fiesta Margarita? Well, they can, it's a matter of if they want to or not.
