With all due respect...can someone please tell me one movie in GMR that is currently considered a "modern" movie versus a "classic?" With that said...I highly doubt any support for a "Great Classic Movie Ride" as it is already a classic...an old classic...an old slow moving classic..etc.

And it would really go with the décor of Yesterland.

It had a good run but it is time for something new.

What are you going to replace the rides with though?

If you go for the Top 12 (the number of main scenes in TGMR) Grossing Films/Franchises (not bothering to adjust for inflation so you only get "modern" films), and you get...

Avatar
Titanic
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Harry Potter
Transformers
Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
James Bond
Batman/Dark Knight
Pirates of the Caribbean
Toy Story
Star Wars (prequels)
Alice in Wonderland
--------------------
The Lion King (would be a replacement for Harry Potter)
Finding Nemo (would be a replacement for Transformers)

...and that gets you through the Top 23 Films

Now, actually, I don't think that that is a bad group of modern (1994-2012) films to base a ride on (not talking about the actual quality of the films themselves), but I would rather it be part of a separate ride
The Great Movie Ride: 1930s-1980s
The Great Movie Ride: 1990s-20XXs

You could have "The Great Movie Ride" and "The Great Movie Franchise Ride", but you have Indiana Jones and Alien in the current Great Movie Ride

See post #12 in this thread. Basically a history of film. Needs to have the emotional impact of the GMR finale and then some. I'd spare no expense to get it right. Within reason. Then remove the BAH for the premiere. :)

I got your point I just disagree with it. GMR is an amazing concept that needs to be kept

It puts me to sleep. Except the Wizard of Oz deal which causes me to want to bolt for the exits. I love the finale though. Touching and humorous film about film. No animatronics needed.

I completely agree. Tech updates and cleaning are great and very welcome. Maybe even some different show scenes wouldn't be a bad idea if done with tender loving care. But gutting the ride and removing any semblance of set pieces and animatronics to replace them with video screens (no matter how elaborate they are) is a horrible idea. An incredibly stupid one that would be a massive step down to what is currently there.

As a pp mentioned, I think all the movies in TGMR now are classic movies, with the possible exception of Alien, which can go AFAIAC.

(I liked the Howard post because it was funny and not because Lea Thompson is in her underwear.)

Just one screen in a well appointed theater. See France in WS.

An awesome film about film would serve the subject matter better. IMO.

Is "Alien" considered a classic movie?

A movie about movies is better than physically riding thourgh them? I don't understand the logic in that

Essentially that is what the finale is and that is the most impactful portion of the ride. I don't hate the ride, I just think it moves too slow and rates very poor for re-rideability. o_O The selection of movies will always be narrow by nature of the ride system.

Much rather see a film/theater as mentioned and expanded Pixar Place state-of-the-art attraction. Or some other attraction, perhaps Star Wars related.
