Overall this sounds like a compilation of rumours and figures from elsewhere. Yes, something is in the works park-wide and in specific areas. It's what exactly that's still up in the air, and has been for 4-5 years. Management know DHS needs a lot of help, as a park as a whole and with appeal for specific attractions. Carsland, Carsland and RSR, RSR only, Star Wars theming, various MI Coasters, yes even the Indy EMV have been banded about. But so far as I know it is still a work in progress. 500 mil could get an awful lot. It just depends who does it.

The park however does have more space available than it seems.

Quoting, because I don't want to lose this actual piece of insight in this silliness...but here is an example of making the joke go to 11-

"Since I'm doing the construction and am billing Disney at a rate of $220 million per hour all DHS is getting is an LCD screen that will feature Fanstasmic Mickey saying, "Welcome to Disney's Hollywood Studios" when you bring your magic band within 4.8 inches of the sensor".

Now, only 1 in 12 people would think that comment is serious. Also, I hadn't heard mention of an Indy EMV being plunked down in the studios in years. If they designed a new one that would be quite enjoyable. All those ideas would be enjoyable. Let us hope they do something at DAK and DHS and then hope that the something in both places is well done.

What's likely to happen is projects like an American Idol replacement will come out of much smaller budgets in the coming years.
It's hard to quote multiple posts on my phone but this keeps coming up so I'll address it with your post.

American Idol is virtually a non issue in all of this. It's a stage show. Standard auditorium, standard stage. When its run is over, it will likely be replaced with another stage show. The only investment needed will be removal of the few themed signs and such, new costumes, talent, and the creative development of the new show. There's really not much hard construction required. If and when AI is replaced, it won't break the bank.

That was what I wondered, on Google Maps, it seems rather boxed in?

Although regardless of how try to get there by car, I always seem to come in the little entrance rather than the big one.

I shouldn't have to spell out that its a joke or it won't be funny. I just try to make it so ridiculous that its obvious. If people still take it seriously, then I wasn't being obviously ridiculous enough.
Satire is best when it sits exactly on the line of 'for real?'. If it is too absurd it loses its edge, its fun.

Don't give in to the masses!

Depends on what your goal is. Now if Mr. Alt has a goal if being really, really dry and only have a few appreciate the humor, I would suggest that the best course of action when one of his jokes is mis-interpreted is to let it go. To each his own though. Over the top absurdity can have an edge and make a powerful point, but it has unique satirical requirements in joke structure.

Yes, as general guidelines, always let it go, and never explain humour.

A joke is never funny when explained, best to simply let it pass and try better next time. Lord knows at some point half of this forum has looked at me like I'm idiot, over yet another miserably failed attempt at humour. What can you, eh? :)

TDO needs to pick a park and build an attraction that knocks it out of the park, ala RSR, ToT or Potter.

Build an original attraction with that level of detail and money spent, everybody wins.
This.

I wish (old) Eisner was still there. Out of sheer ego he wouldn't let himself be pushed around. He'd make a budget and order an aircraft carrier in DHS, or a waterpark with a full scale Titanic. Just to top UNI and knock some critic's teeth out.

DHS is one of those parks I get all excited about going to then almost always am disappointed in it. It's a half day park at best. It' always feels crammed no matter how many folks are in due to design. It's still better than AK for me but it seriously needs some work done to it. There's just not enough to keep me entertained for a whole day. Perhaps because I don't like some of the rides/attractions. I still go as I like tot and RnR. I've never been on TSM because I refuse to queue for over an hour for something I can gain a similar experience from in MK. Perhaps I just don't 'get' TSM

How about hell no.

WDW has lost enough of its animatronic-heavy rides full of elaborate and detailed physical set pieces, way too many. Stupid idea to want to remove even more. Video screens, no matter how large, wide, or whatever cannot compare. One can only praise heaven above that Spaceship Earth's structure turned out to be unfit for the early plans they had to replace it with a roller coaster and remove all physical sets and animatronics in favor of projected screens.
Unfortunately the structure could not prevent them from shoving screens in the vehicles and making them the ride's underwhelming finale.

i say bring back the old studios , like when they had the back lot tour which was worth something , and all the sound stages ....
They can't/couldn't compete with Universal's rental numbers for their backlot, which was always better, and sound stages that are right up the street. Universal Florida was and is also way, way more accommodating for Production, you can shut down City Walk, and almost anywhere on property for filming. They have the edit bays, discrete products, mixing, ect all right on site ... Disney never really got it right at MGM.

I completely forgot about Fantasmic, wow!
Definitely needs a good refresh. It really was the best show on the property.

This sums it up perfectly.
