$500 million being invested in the Studios?

There isn't 500mil in the 2013 budget for it. However, I'd look for it to be a part of the fiscal 2014 budget, which would take effect October 1.
And what would such a 500 mil budget entail in terms of attractions? Cars Land, GMR redo like this guy is saying, something else, all of the above (which I would doubt highly)?

The site owner mentions that this could come into play at the Monstrous Summer Press event in late April. Is it possible this could be at the very least be vaguely mentioned then?

These DHS rumors are starting to make my head hurt. Announce something already!!

Doesn't your signature state: "Waiting patiently for Spirited Change!" ;)

I'm anxious too, but will actually be somewhat (pleasantly) surprised if we hear anything before D23. As Lee noted, the fiscal year starts Oct. 1st, so they could announce something at D23 in August, and then state, as they did with their Disney Springs announcement, "Construction starts in just over a month."

i believe RSR was 300 million
Really? I don't know myself, but it would seem like it would cost a LOT more than that. For Disney at least. As said, Fantasyland expansion apparently cost 500 million and had extremely little substance to it. Cars is a far more meaty experience (and its rockwork is incredible), i'd be shocked if it cost the same or less than New Fantasyland did.

CarsLand as a whole cost around 650 million.
I'd guess that this would be somewhat less for a clone since the design is already done, but I don't know how much less (would be surprised if that shaved an entire 150 mil off the price tag). And if this included a redo of the GMR and other aspects of the studios, I just cannot see 500 mil being nearly enough...

500mil would get you RSR and a reduced Cars Land. And maybe the Monsters ride.
I've not heard anything about major changes to the GMR.
And by reduced, I would assume that would probably be the exclusion of the Flying Tires and perhaps Mater's Junkyard?

Thanks for the info Lee! I also assume from the comments about Monsters that the ride may also still be under consideration?

That's not nearly enough. FLE cost 500 and look at what we got there; nothing of true substance. That park needs at LEAST 2 billion.

You mean to tell me we got nothing. As I recall, we got an awesome super cool LM queue and ride with plenty of state of the art AA's, double dueling dumbo, rethemed barnstormer, gift shop(s), enchanted M&G's, ubber popular restaurant (best thing in NFL), and a future coaster/mine train ride. You mean to tell me that doesn't float your boat or doesn't excite you.;) <<total sarcasm>>

What we have to hope for is that the majority of the funds get allocated to the future attractions and GMR themselves and not on the queue's, merchandise shops,M&G's,etc. as opposed to what resulted in NFL. But yeah, totally agree with ya.

So if hypothetically a reduced cars land and monster Inc Coaster would be built the “backlot area” next to current Pixar place. Pixar themed attractions would stretch from Toy Story Midway to Streets of America? The construction would be confined to that back corner of the park, allowing not only for a more controlled and less intrusive construction area and also for a grand reveal (unlike the phased opening of NFL) for the new area(s) of Pixar Place.

That sig has been up there for over a year. I think I've lived up to it ;)

With all due respect...can someone please tell me one movie in GMR that is currently considered a "modern" movie versus a "classic?" With that said...I highly doubt any support for a "Great Classic Movie Ride" as it is already a classic...an old classic...an old slow moving classic..etc.

Well that's some new rumor i've not heard here, though in another topic recently I believe this guy was stated to have some shaky information, so there's no telling whether this guy is legit.

And apparently a Cars Land is supposedly still in the works from insiders on wdwmagic. Would $500 million actually cover a Cars Land clone alone, let alone Cars AND extra work done to the Studios (like this supposed Great Movie Ride makeover)? Not even sure if $500 mil is enough JUST for Cars.

Granted I think a Great Movie Ride makeover with more of an emphasis on classic vs modern films is a great idea. IF done with loving care, particularly using actual scenes with physical sets and animatronics (scenes composed of nothing but projected video screens can go to hell).
It might, CA was $1 billion for the entire park. Does HS need as much help as CA did back in verge day? That said, this park could go away and I wouldn't even notice.

According to Wikipedia, the films are from 1932-1981 (Raiders of the Lost Ark being the latest)
The only "Modern" films in TGMR are the ones in the finale montage, unless Raiders (at 22 years old) is considered modern?

Presumably "Classic" v "Modern" could mean that one or two scenes could be changed, but they would be older films, for example, Snow White (1937), Star Wars (1977), rather than Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) - I can't see them basically starting the ride from scratch...
