$500 million being invested in the Studios?

Yeah, it's a classic...but the second one was better.

Blasphemy! I actually prefer Alien 3, Fincher was the only one who I thought understood the original and tried to recapture the tension that Ridley Scott created in Alien. It's a shame Fox mutilated it the way they did.

The only change I would make to the Great Movie Ride would be the Underworld and Western scenes. The only things of note there are (a very good) James Cagney AA and John Wayne and Clint Eastwood; they don't depict films but whole genres. If they went with a classic gangster and western film, or films from two different genres even, I think that would be an improvement but I like everything else. I wouldn't touch Singing' in the Rain, Mary Poppins, Alien, Indiana Jones, Casablanca and Wizard of Oz, those are actual scenes that evoke memories of and draw you into those films.

The Oz deal is like nails on a chalk board. And it goes on and on and on. The animatronic is cool but the show is so loud and annoying and overly sentimental. So I never ride anymore.

Jay Rasulo's comments about cutting park spending in 2013... I can't see Disney announcing anything that will start construction until 2014, unless Disney want to upset shareholders with broken promises?
The Dream and the Fantasy were $1B each. Between Fantayland and DCA that's another $1B. NGE $1B. $4B total in the last few years.

Spending $500M at DHS is STILL a significant "winding down" of capital spend in the Domestic Parks and Resorts segment.

I'm not a huge fan of the film but the GMR is meant to take you into the films it depicts and I think the Oz section really does accomplish that. It can be nails on a chalk board depending on what kind of mood I'm in but last year the CM completely flubbed his lines with the Wicked Witch which I found funny at the time. Simple things amuse simple minds...

The CMs do a fine job. No criticism there. I have the same problem with the ride system in Energy. I just think it is too slow and has lost the wow factor. JMHO.

All these DHS rumors are driving me nuts; announce something!
Anyway, I agree with the people saying 500 million isn't enough. That would probably cover RSR, and an insanely watered down Carsland. A DCA styled, 1.5 billion dollar re do is what DHS truly needs. Look at the wonders all that money put into DCA did? It's attendance skyrocketed, and the same could happen to DHS if they put in the same amound of cash and effort.

They don't lie when they say the Great Movie Ride is a SLOW MOVING ride in all caps and italics at the front of the ride.

I'm going to go out on a limb here... Blasphemous, I know... But I find DHS my least favorite park, by far.

I don't visit the parks with kids, so that knock off a lot of the draw here. There's also a huge amount of retail shops (and to a slightly lesser degree eateries) compared to attractions and activities, especially on a more adult level... Which tend to be more waiting than enjoying.

I think DHS should take every bit of that $500M and do some radical things to breath life into the park. Because honestly, unless they do I probably won't visit again anytime soon.

Quoting myself to make a point because this is lost on a lot of people in these conversations. "TDO isn't investing in WDW" is usually a pretty major complaint around here and is often one of the favorite battle cries of the fanboys. There are a couple problems with this argument.

1. TDO doesn't set its own budget. They get x dollars and choose where to spend it, but they don't get to decide x itself.
2. The TP&R segment is spending. Big. If you think DCA and Fantasyland and the Dream and the Fantasy and NGE are stupid, make that your argument. "TDO is cheap" is not the same as "Parks is spending a considerable sum on major improvements but they're not in the areas that most interest me personally." Question where money is spent, sure, but it's dishonest to argue that it's NOT being spent, period.

Wow I totally agree with this. Honestly there is really nothing to do with kids here. Kids find the shows and the other attractions boring, heck I even find it boring. DHS is probably the most uninteresting park at WDW. GMR gets old when you go on it multiple times... The Backlot Tour is a shell of its former self, IJSS is showing its age. Honestly the only thing that's keeping the visitors coming is TOT and Rockin' Roller Coaster. TSMM too I suppose. I think it's going to take a lot more than 500 Million to reimagine this park because right now it's in bad shape.

I totally agree. One of the greatest Sci Fi movies ever. Probably even better than Star Wars to be honest. The film is quite underrated actually. I think its pointless sequels ruined its reputation as a great film.
2001 is better. As I am often reminded in my film classes; Star Wars is NOT Sci-Fi. It's a swashbuckler in space. Star Trek is Sci Fi. 20K Leagues is Sci Fi.

I didn't want to get into the specific adult draws but yeah - you nailed them. I also enjoy the 50's Diner. :)

Granted they just added the Jack Sparrow attraction... But c'mon. I'm not going back to see that.
