I would love to see Miami win.. even though that would put my Bucks farther from a spot.

I’m not at all confident about OSU tonight.. they’ve been so hot or cold lately. It’s frustrating. Regardless of my own team’s failure.. this has been an incredibly exciting college football season!

If Barrett is 100%, you've got a decent chance. But OSU needs to blow out an undefeated Wisconsin to convince the Committee to put a 2 loss OSU in, instead of a 1 loss 'Bama. And that's going to be the conundrum. If Wisconsin loses, will Bama - who won't be conference champs - jump OSU? Which means 2 SEC teams. Something the committee has never done in the final 4 - 2 teams from the same conference.

Right now, I think the top 3 remain the same...and we definitively know Oklahoma will be in there. So, Stamps, it's all on y'all. And we all know the committee loves the Tide.

Umm, may need to rethink my thoughts on Auburn - Georgia game. Auburn looks sloppy.

ETA: Certainly didn't expect this. Looks like the Dawgs will be the second team to make the playoffs.

If the trend holds, no only will Miami lose, it will be epic.... And I won't cry.

Awww poor Canes :(. This was a turning point though, I have full confidence that a Miami era is on the horizon.

..But this is hilarious-

Now we wait and see...
Bama or The Ohio State?

I don’t see how they can choose Alabama.. but I don’t know..
The craziness continues!

I have to be up in 6 hours for a soccer game.. guess I should tear myself away from ESPN and get some sleep. Please committee, do the right thing!!

Yeah, that was hilarious - how do you tear turf like that?

ESPN analysts are saying OSU over Alabama for that 4th slot after Clemson, Oklahoma and Georgia. You'll know by the time kiddo's soccer game is over, hopefully.

So Malzahn said he's staying at Auburn, kinda....

I get he's got history in Arkansas, but why would you want to leave Auburn for the Razorbacks?

Wow. Just wow.
I don’t understand it.

All I know is any Bama fan, or any fan, should never talk about strength of schedule again.
What a joke.
2 teams from the SEC, a conference who was arguably one of the weakest out of the power conferences.

I hope Oklahoma wins the trophy.

I told you they're in love with Bama. Saban really pushed to make the case for Bama, using the FSU game. I laughed, because by the time Francois was hurt, that game was over.

But Pen State could say the same last year.

My prediction - Clemson and Oklahoma playing in the National Championship game. And I won't care who wins.

I’m trying to be non biased and look at this objectively.. I still don’t understand it. The Championship, yes, I understand that argument because of last year.. but here’s the difference with the Alabama selection-
Strength of Schedule advantage- Nope.
Quality Win advantage- Nope.
Conference Champ advantage- Nope.

They don’t have any of the 3. Even if they had 1 of them then I could understand a little better. What they also don’t have- a 31 point loss. I guess that got them in.. I don’t see how the committee can claim that they are “the 4th best team in the country”. I’d rather see USC above Bama based on the supposed criteria.

Oh well, it is what it is.

Bama could shock us all and end up winning it all.. I’d hate to see it, but the last time everyone doubted number 4, look what happened.

Maybe that’s what the committee is hoping for.

And you would be correct about the Iowa loss. Chairman of the committee said that was a deciding factor in selecting Alabama over OSU. And winning the Big 10 didn't change it.

Then we need to go back to the BCS. Plug all the data into the computer - wins/losses, strength of schedule, opponents wins/losses, rankings over the year - anything and everything. Then let the computers select the 4 teams for the playoffs. But do it only once the conference champs are decided, so that can also be added into the calculations. .

I don't know how long it will take, but this year has really shown we need to expand the playoff system. I feel a little bad for the UCF fans... trust me I understand the thought that they really didn't play anyone, but being the only team undefeated I would like to see them in a 6-8 team playoff. I've told UCF fans they only way they are going to reach new levels now is to get in a new conference or see the playoff expanded.

I'm happy with the Coach at Florida we shall see how we do next year. Was not happy seeing our program crash down on it's self the way it did this year. Although I guess I can say glad we are not Tennessee.

Also happy for Jimbo Fisher I think with some time he will shake up the SEC West.

Here's to a great bowl season. I hope we see a lot of nail bitters.

If the Committee is going to list the top 6, then why not go to a 6, or 8, team playoff, as you mentioned. Then teams like UCF, Ohio State and Wisconsin won't be left out. If FCS can figure out how to do it, then Division I can.

Go to an 8 team playoff, at the minimum. Conference champs are in, along with others. That way, runners up with good records are in. Or just use the top 8 teams after conference champs are determined. I'm all for going back to the computers determining rankings. Plug in all the parameter data and let it figure it out.

I don’t want to go back to the BCS system, but I do think they need to expand the playoff teams.. not quite to NCAA Basketball brackets, but at least the conference champs.
It’s tough, because sometimes I do think a team can be better than the conference champ in their division.. but that’s not what sports are or should be about imo.. it should be about the resume...not an “eye test”.

My son’s outdoor soccer team lost in quadruple overtime in the city semifinals last year..We had kids on vacation and did not have any subs.. the kids were so tired, but never gave up.
Quadruple overtime was crazy, down to 2v2 on the field, no goalies, sudden death (they don’t do shootouts yet at this age).
At that point it is almost luck. We were the better team in every aspect, but we still went to overtime because of the scoreboard, and we lost when one of our players tripped and the field was wide open.
We didn’t go to the final, which stinks because 3 of our players would have been back, and we didn’t go to State.. that other team lost in the final game, the next weekend.

Most of the kids cried, my son cried.
This. Is. Sports. Sometimes the better team doesn’t win, whether it’s due to missing/injured players, or just bad luck. You don’t reward a team because they pass an “eye test”.
