I feel like I need to address the Star Wars idea:

I appreciate the enthusiasm about star wars, but I just want to make clear that making basically a giant Galaxies Edge might not be the best thing to do. Sure, it may be easy, but is quality Imagineering ever easy?

Never! Some of the most popular attractions were Walt Disney thinking outside the box with radically new concepts that had never been done before, and one of the best theme parks ever made was designed as an educational facility with rides (epcot). This idea in my humble honest opinion would be an easy cop-out of what could be a magnificent project.

I'll give my weight if we decide on Star Wars, and I actually don't want to mess with the vote, but I just wanted to put that out there for consideration.

I agree with this.

Star Wars is a beloved franchise but I feel like our park can be so much more than a “Giant Galaxy’s Edge”

I agree... the only reason I suggested Star Wars was because folks were concerned a park without IP would be unrealistic (something I’ve never really cared for, but I understand the critique).
Your right, but you traded one extreme for the other. We must seek to contain a happy medium, but lean towards the original concept idea.

Then what do we do
Of our current ideas, the only one that could reasonably include IPs without them taking over is the Lost Worlds... and even then, they’d be more distracting of the land’s main goal.
I personally think we could pull off a fictional Space Station theme without too much IP. I could see a little bit of Star Wars in it, but it can be limited to a subsection or a ride. There is plenty you can make up with space, whether that be light-speed travel, exotic planets, or whatever, the imagination is the limit!

Lost world's could work too, but I see the same issues potentially happening in both.

Bottom line is that we must have some amount of IP to be successful, heck even Epcot had Figment and Dreamfinder for merchandise.

I mean to a degree. An Atlantis area would be tricky as the only IP that would fit there is Atlantis which is oof. Other places like The 7 Wonders of the World could do the Statue of Zeus and do Hercules (I know it's technically the Roman name but the rest is set in Greece). It isn't the greatest, but it could work!

I guess... but even then, I feel like the IP is constantly distracting from the main product. You look at the original Disneyland and there was only one land of the five that had IPs... Fantasyland, and that’s a land arguably built around IPs, giving it an exception.

I worry the Space Station idea would be diluted if Star Wars got involved, unless the park was about Star Wars. Now this might seem like me jumping to extremes but what I’m getting at is the park has to be about something. How is this SpaceStation with normal Earth references in all the lands except for one Star Wars area working? Why not just make it all Star Wars at that point?

Lost Worlds works a bit better, although I do worry it is a bit cliche compared to all our other ideas.

Star Wars doesn't necessarily need to be involved.

Going back to Figment, both him and Dreamfinder were IP created specifically for the park, and then morphed into merchandising with popularity among guests.

If we create our own characters, we can fill the IP void without relying on movies all the time.

One thing I just thought of, Lost Worlds could become a Beastly Kingdom if not properly handled.

At the end of the day though, we must pick something, and we need to still pick a theme for our entrance land, which is this week's prompt. I really appreciate the deep thinking and discussion of ideas we've had so far this round and I think this is the best round we've done yet with this kind of brainstorming!

I'm narrowing the ideas down to the SPACE STATION and LOST WORLDS, which we can sleep on till tomorrow, when we'll make the decision and choose an entrance land theme.
