NEW BRAINSTORMING CHALLENGE!
dlforward3-800x400.png

With the recent triumphant return of @DisneyFan18 - we're going to resurrect one of his old threads - 1902 Carthay Circle, a group brainstorming effort tackling projects across the globe.

With the recent announcements of Disneyland Forward, the vague but extremely interesting topic leaves a lot to be discussed, and the armchair imagineers here, working together, might have the solution!

Let's see what our best ideas are for this design, what it could be, or even, if it should be!
PUMPED!!!!!

Soooo, I know Disney has already kind of tossed some of their own ideas for what could be built in that area. It feels like this is almost a way to expand the existing parks into a larger footprint.

Personally I would go with
1 new resort
A small waterpark
An expanded “downtown” with attractions and shops on par with what you could expect at Disneyland. Like, basically an entire land existing on its own.

piggybacking off my own post lol

Imagine a miniature Fantasyland with like, a fully developed dark ride, stage show, M&G, and maybe one other small attraction, something analogous to Casey Jr or Mad Tea Party.

It could all be themed to one story (Tangled) or could be multiple IPs like actual Fantasyland. But it would be a great way to like, show visitors who (somehow) haven’t been to Disneyland what to expect, and also would be a great way for folx or families on a tighter budget to be able to have a wonderful Disney experience without breaking the bank.

And of course, you can always do something like “open to the general public from 10am-6pm and then resort guests only until 1am” or something like that. I can imagine there would be a multitude of reasons for wanting to do something like that.

I like that you are thinking about those who are on a tight budget...a lot of people have to save up for a long time to make a trip to Disney possible.

I think it makes sense for Disney to use the space for theme park extension. I know that if they had more space, they would go for a third gate. I think under their proposal, the cost of tickets will go up, which hurts the lower middle class even more. I think they are going to have to go for some IPs (like Frozen), not only because that is what they are proposing but that is also the easiest way to drum up interest in it (especially as they talk to Anaheim). Although some copies of attractions found in Disney parks around the world would be a good return on investment (of research), it would be good to have some designs that haven’t been built before.

Aww!!

I’ve always wanted there to be a way to bring the authentic Disney magic to those who aren’t as fortunate enough to be able to go often, or ever.

That Magic obviously comes at a cost, and I still think that cost is worth it. But the Walt Disney Company has a license to print money and could certainly afford something modest like a “free” theme park land. Especially on their own property where people are dining and shopping anyway.

How about doing an expansion to New Orleans Square allowing them to build a Princess and the Frog dark ride and leave Splash Mountain alone?
I mean your username needs to have meaning going forward. At this rate, some yipper-snapper is going to say, “what’s a brer?” Actually I don’t know the answer to that. (edit: it means brother)

I find it very interesting that Disney is basically building a grassroots effort (e.g. asking people to go to public meetings) to get this project passed. It would be an interesting thought experiment...what happens if it doesn’t work? Might they go to a different location?

Anyways it seems that both DL and DCA should get at least another land out of this expansion (that is, unless we decide to not make it part of those parks).
